This track is really putting on display how great of an emcee/lyricist Em is. I think what separates him from most every other rapper is his technical skill/technicals. all of his tools in the toolbox are ridiculous but his delivery and cadence/timing are on pluto or mars somewhere. It’s like every bar has multiple double/triple/even quadruple entendres. I honestly think that it has gotten to a point that he doesn’t ever have to try hard to do it after he has been writing for this long it just naturally happens, which is an insane skill in and of itself. That Michael J Fox scheme is insane, he ends it with “Michael J Fox will come to a stand still” which is insane enough, but the beat turns over again to start the next bar and it sounds like he’s starting the next scheme with “during an earthquake” but he’s really still drawing off of the parkinson’s thing, Fox can’t stand still normally, but no one can stand still in an earthquake because the earth is literally quaking (shaking). To start that next bar with that as if it was part of the next scheme and rhyme with it “urine in your face cause you’re fake” but still. have it driving the point home of the whole ‘stand still’ thing from the previous scheme/bar like that is next level writing/emceeing!!!

I remember when this dropped i had been bumping relapse and it felt so re energized and unique...this was one of my favs on the album and on fire. loved the album so much i remember that i understood 25 to life the first time i heard it as a writer myself, it helped me catch the meaning just by the hook alone. no one i jammed it with knew what it was about and it made me appreciate the metaphor even more. very inspiring album
