Honestly, the prices for the quality is insane. I already have 3 bottles of Bois Imperial by Quentin Bisch, clear standout of the house, I receive compliments pretty much every time I wear it.

I bought because I think the last Herod formulation is ridiculously weak in performance, specially for the price point. Being made by the same perfumer, it is definitely worth it.

Fig Infusion is one of my top freshies and Divine Vanille at least stands up to its designer contemporaries for a solid price (once the weird opening wears off after ~5min). The Discovery Set is great too, because it's both cheap as dirt and you get a refund voucher for a full bottle purchase, which you have little reason not to take advantage of because the bottles are so cheap unless you hate all of them.
I don't personally get much similarly between DV and Herod. I get Herod's tobacco note too strongly and don't smell the osmanthus, which I do notice in DV. Orange x Santal was my biggest disappointment, not so much because it smells bad but I get so little orange that it's maybe 80-90% plain sandalwood for me.

can I please ask. Which would you choose as a male fragrance the Vanilla or Fig one?

    • @RisingChaos
      @RisingChaos 4 месяца назад +1

@@aaron4387 An odd question, but they're both pretty unisex. I'm not going to split hairs and proclaim one is slightly more masculine than the other. Herod is marketed as a men's fragrance and Divine Vanille is commonly compared to it, though, so conclude what you will from that.

Just took a shot on Divine Vanille. Unfortunately it's backordered until February. Also the discovery set is no longer available, so factor that in before you purchase.

I'm a big fan of Essential Parfums, i liked about 5 our of 8 of their fragrances, which is a great ratio for a house to have (especially at that price point). I've been preaching the gospel of their fragrance discovery set to people in the community, who want to get into niche. In my opinion it is the best starting point you can pick

I've always recommended Essential Parfums for a starter niche house if people never have delved into niche fragrances before, along with Mancera, Montale, Molinard, and Happyland Studios. I enjoy their aesthetic around certain fragrance notes like vanilla, bergamot, vetiver, rose, etc. And honestly, I prefer Divine Vanille over Parfums de Marly's Herod. I swear it smells JUST LIKE Herod without any percentages or anything. I wore both on my skin at one point (I had a sample of Herod) and I seriously could not tell any difference at all.

Got the sample set . Most medicre at best, bois imperial is ok and devine vanille is a decent alternative to Herod PDM. These two are the only ones i would recommend but nothing is amazing from the house .

The spellings of Bergamote in Nice Bergamote allude to France... and I believe Nice is here is the city rather than the English adjective

Bois Imperial was the standout for me.
Vanille, Fig and Orange were all beautiful in their own right but the longevity was terrible so not great value in my opinion.

I gotta politely disagree here. I got this set a few weeks ago, and I feel like every single one of these frags is extremely forgettable. The only one that is even mildly interesting is Bois Imperiale, which is Quentin Bische frag that is essentially just a very slight variation of Ganymede, and I feel that Ganymede is still better. That said, Ganymede is considerably more expensive, so if you want a very close frag to Ganymede for much less, Bois Imperiale is for you. The rest are either very feminine leaning for very forgettable. Sorry, bruh, but this ain't it.

I smelled about 75% of this line and I agree. I felt it was been there, done that stuff that didn’t feel very “niche” in quality. I’d rather just spend $150 on something from Ormonde Jayne or something.

Bois is similar to Ganymede but it's definitely more than a "slight variation". It has the mineral type thing Bisch does and you can obviously tell he did them both but they dry down completely differently. I personally think they're different enough and good enough to have both but I respect your opinion on it and I do agree Ganymede is still the better frag out of the two.

I think - just in my opinion - that its pretty masculine, clean fresh and easy to wear fragrance.
I find it exceptionally strong so if you aren't into full on projection it might not be your thing.
I wont wear it to work. Its too strong for that environment I believe.
I stumbled upon this fragrance from a guy on the beach who had it on. He was at least 2 meters away from me and it was strong smelling even in that enviromnent.
