The guy in the mental institute is named Lyman, John's best friend, and the original owner of Odie (Oh-Dee). The little cat in the window is Nermal, he's a little kitten that tends to annoy the crap out of Garfield. Arlene is Garfield's girlfriend, and is most notable for the long neck, and large front teeth. The woman in the park is Liz, Jon's girlfriend. She's a vet.

Theory:
Garfield always had the virus in him, which is why he could talk, and walk on two legs. He was waiting for more people to enter the house, and for the right moment to kill and expand more of the virus, Lyman, the man in the asylum was Gorefields first target, for getting Jon away from the house a lot. Lyman escaped Garfields attack and tried to warn the police, they didn’t believe him, thinking he was insane. They put him in the asylum. The reason why he disappeared from the comic, sending Jon into depression, he rarely left the house. Making it the perfect time for to attack.

That's cool af, but note in the og comics, Garfield was never even talking. Jon didn't hear him, just us the readers seeing his thought bubble.

The man in the mental hospital is named Lyman, he was a character in the comics many years ago but disappeared randomly from the comics. He used to live with Jon and was the owner of odie. People don’t really know what happened to him

I come back to LumpyTouch’s Garfield Gameboy’d video every year around Halloween time to admire his masterpiece.
Here is the story if you don't understand the guy in the mental hospital was lyman and he was odies original owner untill he mysteriously dissappeared well apparently in this universe he was sent to the mental hospital because everyone thought he was crazy but Lyman was not crazy and he actually predicted what was going to happen. After 2 weeks Garfield turns into gorefield and kills odie and torment john while he is trying to get a sample of gorefield so that he can leave because nermal is working for the government and the government needs a sample of gorefield to make a vaccine but apparently the government also needed Arlene anyway after jon enters the basement nermal dies by gorefield and jon blows up the house but he and gorefield are still alive and gorefield captured jon but not kill (i think) because gorefield says jon completes him. After that lyman escapes from the mental hospital blaming himself for odie and jons assumed death which for some reason gives him powers (btw mike you should have finished the video first) well you think thats it right? Wrong because in gorefield horrorscopes there are 13 different gorefields that exist in the zodiac universe's and the gorefield you get is determined by your zodiac sign. Well that is assumedly everything i hope?
I know that there's an old garfeild comic book that had a series of mini stories, some very dark too. Think was call Garfield Nine Lives or something like that.
There's a cartoon version two, but that left out/changed the story on some of the lives

If you watch the rest of the Gorefield video at the end Jon blows up the house. Then Garfield is very tall and says the world is ending Jon. I will keep you safe. Then I'm pretty sure you can see Jon in Garfield's stomach. Then we see Layman A.K.A the guy at the beginning and he talks about how he failed Jon and his friends.

Gorefield transforms once more, and tells jon that the world is going to end. The game ends, and a nuke drops. Gorefield saves Jon from the explosion by eating him, and they fly off to who knows where. Later, lyman, the guy in the asylum, mutates and seeks vengeance for all that has happened
