You can put just about any engine in these...I knew someone that had a 83-84 I believe....black...bbs lace wheels...black interior really nice car...one of my all time favorite
It's a beautiful car, and as long as you forget or don't know that the chassis is basically a 1953 Studebaker Starlite it seems like the most modern thing 1n 1963.
i love the car. I know someone who owns a 64 in maybe the same shape. I am tempted to get it if i can get it for a good price. I am wondering what i should pay. pristine ones iv seen online are like 30k.
Take a look at Bring a Trailer. Search Avanti and they will show what recent cars have bid to and as well as selling prices. You can look at the ads for previous sales and get an idea of what they go for. Good luck!
This was the sexiest, most futuristic American car on the road in '63 , also the safest as the Avanti had disc brakes two years before the Corvette , it also had a padded dash long before they were mandatory .
This is my life. I have a R2 in my garage also....
Awesome! I had a 63 R2 back in the late 80's. I worked on this one to help a friend. Fun to be back working on one!

They did a great job with the resources that they had!
Not true. The chassis came from a Lark convertable. Studebaker tried to use as many off the shelf stuff they could for the Avanti. I owned one.
Beautiful car!
Thanks Carl. It belongs to a friend who is selling it. I got to take it out on a few drives and it was a lot of fun!

22k miles
It is a really nice, solid car. The underside is amazing. The doors shut nicer than any Avanti I've owned or worked on in the past.
This is one ugly cheap looking car!
Sorry John. I don't agree with you on that.
@@neilloughlin7080 That's like calling your baby ugly LOL
