When I was in Japan in 2005 for a military exercise, Narita was the international gateway, and Haneda was the domestic airport. We flew from Seattle to Narita, and then took a bus across town to Haneda for a flight to New Chitose Airport. Boy, have things changed in 20 years!
Appreciate the story about the shrine. When visiting Japan, I often stay in the Yokosuka area which is about an hour by train from Haneda. If I travel domestically and have a morning flight, I stay near the airport at the JAL or MyStays hotel the night before. It is located a few minutes walk from Anamori Inari station. I will visit the shrine next time I stay there given its history and good luck for safe travel. Thank you for the video.
i play atc3 & atc4 game, and quite amazed how japan designs their airports, especially haneda.. the runways placement and assignment for take off and landing is quite unique...
ADDENDUM: The Taipei route in Haneda's domestic era was a necessity because Taiwanese carriers would be a pain in the back to mainland Chinese airlines operating at Narita, should they ever cross paths. Communist China does not recognize Taiwan's sovereignty, seeing it only as a rogue/breakaway province.
Very nice and history awesome 👍👍👍👍
Thank you.
I’ll be flying into Haneda in two weeks. This video was very informative and interesting.
Haneda is a wonderful airport.

Market has changed for the better. Its now possible to do that very same trip you mentioned with just a stop at Haneda using one airline -ANA/JAL.

Has this sentiment changed now with both HND and NRT serving domestic/international flights?
