+Janell Kristina i like your volume choice of background music. Its not distracting yet relaxing. Well done. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I too had an identity crisis - 7yrs ago. I think its a process for every human to go thru. I found my identity in my Creator as i was rescued from much darkness and depression in life. It had me bound and now im free. I hope the absolute best for you dear one. A life of peace. Much love to you on your journey. 💜
I’m inspired! I know some people are just miserable and feel the urge to spread that misery, but how do you down vote a video someone makes about their personal life experience? It’s confusing to say the least.
Our lives seem so similar. I come from a very poor background, I recently came out of a very extreme religious organization I was in for years, I am finishing up pre nursing, I find myself constantly at the mall spending my small check on clothes that I think make me who I want to be, etc. Thank you for sharing and giving me hope :)
First of all I love your haircut. It really suits you. Second I definitely hear where you're coming from. For me there was a long time between when I left my all consuming religion (in small part because it never brought me the peace or joy I was seeking) and when I discovered that there was a lifestyle that could give me what I was looking for. I had always enjoyed a good purge of my posessions and was never much of a shopper, but it wasn't until I discovered minimalism that I discovered that I should lean into my simplistic, frugal and minimalistic instincts. Doing so led to a career and lifestyle overhaul and I'm so much happier now than I ever was for most of the last decade becoming a "success". Go figure. Thanks so much for sharing!
I'm not a minimalist but I try to live as if I were because I hold on to physical and mental things which we all know is super unhealthy. I just wanted to add when I started freeing myself from "stuff", I started with my closet and then stuff from childhood. It has helped my sanity immensely.
Just randomly came across this video and honestly after watching it, its really made me reconsider my life and what really gives meaning to my life. Highly considering incorporating minimalist traits in to my life now. Thank you for this! ❤
just found out about your channel.. i cab relate to you being a minimalist and being a nurse as well.. I was not born rich but when I had a work, I was shopping all the time, so I turned to being a minimalist once again because I was full of debt.. now, I am on this journey as well and sticking to it.
i cant belive i realate so much with this. what am i doind with my life. I found this video by chance in the same day I was going thru my closet and im so glad, thank you
Minimalism really helped me during my transition out of religion as well! Totally familiar with the feeling! It's a great start to feeling free! Glad you found it:)
Thank you so much for sharing your journey!! Very inspiring how letting go of clutter in the mind (beliefs that don't empower us) is related to getting rid of clutter in our space. After watching this video, I think I will have more ability to understand my own mind and impulse to buy as ways to feed ideas or believes about myself or my worth that no longer serve me.
Your story about school and coming out of a religion is so similar to my own...and I am so glad that I can hear a different version of my own story coming from a different person. I really love your ideas of minimalism and trying to find that happy life away from unnecessary items. I will try to do this with my own stuff...thanks for being you!! 🤗
I'm planning to have it up by the end of summer! I keep debating about how to film it and end up filming something else instead every time. And thank you!
I’ve been slowly cutting down on things I own. I am still working on it but I can relate to you in that I’ve down the college/debt thing. Now I’m working a full time busy job and it feels like I’m drowning when I come home to a house just packed with stuff. Letting things go is hard for me even when I don’t really have a huge attachment to it causing me to have anxiety/breakdowns. I love that I found your channel and you’ve inspired me to delve more into cleansing/purging unnecessary things from my life!
You are a very wise girl. I'm a new sub & enjoying your Channel + can relate to a lot of your video content. I'm getting a lot out of watching your videos.I have always had issues with clutter so minimalism is intriguing to me. I've tried many de-cluttering techniques, read organizational books and watch organizing & de-cluttering on RUclips. That's how I first found your Channel. ☺️ I hope you find spiritual peace, ✝️ I left the denomination of my youth. I still have the love of God but have not been able to find a church that I can commit to. Good luck with your nursing career 💜 I have been retired from nursing about 10 years due to a chronic illness. I worked a lot of years in med-surg but really miss working as a home health hospice nurse. A good friend of mine is also a nurse traveler. Soon after he started working as a traveler, he got rid of most everything except what he considers necessary for comfort. he is now living a more ☯️ minimalistic lifestyle & quite happy with the freedom it brings. He has less things to worry about when he's home from an assignment. I have been doing well with my addiction to shopping, I haven't bought anything but necessities in almost a year but I get major anxiety when I even think about throwing away anything of value LOL! 🙉
This video really spoke to me!! Everything you said is exactly how I’m feeling right now. I just recently started my minimalist journey I’m currently downsizing all my belongings and trying to find purpose in my day to day life again. I definitely feel like I’m stuck in a cycle and it’s not the type of life that I want to live. Glad I’m not the only one who experienced this. Love your channel #newsubbie
It's part of the growing pains, but that means you're growing! Don't feel bad when you see things in your life that you no longer want, thank them for guiding you and showing you what you do want!
Randomly came across your video. You are a very inspirational young woman. The beauty within you radiates. I have a friend who has ignited the minimalist spark in me. I'm sure I'm much older than you two and it's surprising how much emotions we also attach to these things. Reason why I said I was older, because as we allow our years to pass by and hold on to these "things", it can be more challenging to get rid of them BUT I WILL!! Namaste sweet soul! 🙏✌️✨
i just found out your channel today, and i've watched a lot of your videos. And planning to watch all. Bottom line, this will change my life. And i'm so happy to cut down things, ppl and stuff that i don't need or somehow toxic, in the near future. btw, love you hair. xoxo♡
Hello janell. You are amazing n an inspiration.I am still on a journey to be a minimalist. I feel being a minimalist is the purpose of my life but i am too engrossed in materialism because of social pressures and cultural obligations here in India.I m always looking for inspirations to give me that push to break the shackles n be what i want to be. Love from India
Janell, just found ur channel and it's really resonating with me in many ways . U mentioned in one of ur videos that u overhauled ur credit from a 520 to 760 - AMAZING BTW! CONGRATULATIONS lady! Can u make a video about what YOU did to rehab ur credit ??? I would LOVE and TOTALLY APPRECIATE it!! Also, since I'm nosy LOLOL how's about a video about ur BF?! I bet he's cool AH! OK, that's it. Many thanks, may good follow u always... Elizabeth 😉
Very nice video. Do you also do any kind of fasting? Water fasting, dry fasting or Omad fasting? You are awesome and amazing. Thank you for sharing. You are strong and courageous. Have a very good day.
do you think adopting a minimalist lifestyle takes the stress out of your job , in that, you have the option to leave a high paying stressful job for a lower paying less stressful job?
It defiantly can! It will take some changes in that persons life in areas like spending habits, life style, and living arrangements, but changing any one of those areas can reduce stress. For me I found I'll be stressed out no matter where I work, but finding a job that kind of makes it worth it in a sense has been a huge help.
Like most people heading off to college for the first time I had NO idea what I wanted to do with my life. Something about the whole process makes people feel like they need to make a lifelong commitment and that there was little room to change your mind or "mess up". Probably has to do with the thousands of dollars you have to fork over for classes and books. Either way, I was definitely feeling the pressure. My parents were in the middle of a divorce so between that and trying to figure out what I wanted to pursue I was moving around a lot in short periods of time. Every single time I moved it seemed I had MORE stuff. Most of it was clothes and beauty items. I realized I had put myself in a never ending cycle. I would think about my future and its set expectations, I would realize I wasn't as successful or happy as I wanted to be, and I would go and buy items that fit my idea of an "ideal" life. Obviously it never worked and would only make things worse, especially for someone like me with a general anxiety disorder. I felt trapped in school, trapped in the divorce, trapped in my disorder, trapped in perfection, and most importantly..trapped in my possessions. It was through observation and contemplation that I realized I had a CHOICE in stress and what I spent it on. I also realized everyone had a different stress threshold before it becomes unhealthy so being anxious over things you cant change or care about is a WASTE. I've dumped a lot of stuff ( even my bed ) but have applied it to other areas in life as well....I've let go of friends, habits, foods, and hobbies if they have effected me negatively. I honestly didn't know there was a term for all this until a few months ago. I've always thought of it as the art of letting go.
I feel like so many people can relate to that, and even though I only have a year of school left sometimes I still feel sucked into something I'm not sure about. Sorry to hear about your family's divorce, that must have been brutal with everything else going on. The art of letting go is a really lovely way to phrase everything, I'm glad it's worked out so well for you! I was the same way in letting go of people/ habbits /social media and even foods too. I hope everything is going well for you! xoxo
Le agradecería si haces vídeos en español , pero un montón de trabajo sólo se puede poner subtítulos en español . Portugués al español es mucho más fácil ! Gracias !
"Live with what you Love & what you Need..." I really like that meaning & I am loving your channel ! :-)
It's been my favorite way to describe minimalism so far, thanks for love! :)
You are stunningly beautiful. And your story is beautiful too. So excited to follow your journey. So inspiring!! (Love the chit chat video style too!)
Thank you so, so much!! I have a few more planned that should be coming out in the next few weeks :)
+Janell Kristina yay!!

Oh totally. I recently went thru my closet and my hoard of books. I'm not done. But I just feel better not having stuff to fuss over.
Very nice and very articulate. I too am on a minimalist journey. 🌴🌴🌴🌞🌴🌴🌴

I went through a very similar change in faith and used minimalism to help me through it.
Your videos are so enjoyable I already watched 3 in a row sis

Her face at 4:46 tho 😂
I cringe at myself every time I have to edit lol 😅
Google Murray Bookchin
Which religion did you leave? Don’t leave us in suspense!
Christianity haha
I knew it. What else would make you feel that way.
JW?
I already know. Sigh. Love to you.💙💛❤
I’m curious also because I left a very conservative religion but I respect your decision not to share.
You are very beautiful!!
Your story is VERY similar to mine.
That's cool to hear! How so?

is it a coincidence that most people started questioning their religion in the early 2016 to now Kinda weird . But different boats float .
Amo seus vídeos ♥ pena que não entendo tanto inglês :(
