You could use Auto Hide Weapons, but I would personally recommend "Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)" (yes that's the full name of the mod). It lets you customize how Geralt wears his sword, be that both on the hip, both on one shoulder, X-form on the back like in TW1, one on the hip and one on the back, and aside from the presets you can alter all the position and rotation values yourself for a custom setup. And you can set it to automatically put your swords on Roach when you mount and dismount. It takes a bit of tinkering to find a good configuration, and minor clipping is unavoidable if you're wearing a cape. But IMO it's way more immersive to wear your sword on your side, regardless of whether or not you wear a cape. Also, I prefer having Geralt's swords on his side because it's physically impossible to unsheathe a longsword from your back IRL without a custom scabbard, and Geralt has full scabbards on his swords.

the smearing of light sources in STLM is not acceptable. If you come from photo and film making, you can not understand why such worse failures are added as features- same as mud screen or water droplets. why should i get the feeling of carrying a dirty glass screen in front of my head or wear smeary glasses? how is that immersive? it is annoying and a deal breaker.
No, I tried a reshade once, but my game was really broken after it... Also the reshade really made my performance bad, it felt like playing with 10 fps. The difference with a reshade and without isn't even that big in my opinion, therefore I wouldn't recommend it :/
the biggest advantage of using a reshade is for screenshots tbh, if you want to take really good and cinematic screenshots you can configure a reshade to look however you want, the issue is it drops 10-15fps on average so it's not recommended for gameplay. what I do is have the reshade installed but I keep it disabled. I use the PageUp key on my keyboard to toggle it on and off when I take screenshots. Hope this helps
@@ARJUN-nz9qw Vanilla, so completely without mods? You can try to search online if someone has a bug fix for it, best you describe your shimmering as good as possible on google and then see if something comes up... I don't know if I can help you any better, sorry :(
If you downloaded and installed the mod correctly: Important is to put the "dn_menu.xml" file from the mod folder into your bin folder in your The Witcher 3 files. Then you should have a gap without text in your ingame menu, it's hard to spot the first time it just appears as a bigger gap between to menu options but you should be able to click it and get to the mod menu. However if you want to fix that and have the mod menu option have a name then download this mod: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/897
I just tested the mod I linked you again and it does work to fix the mod ingame menu, however I wouldn't recommend it. My game was working slower and things were updating in a weird way. So I would recommend to just keep the mod ingame menu invisible. Again you can find it if your ingame press escape, then choose "Options" then there should be a gap between "Video" and "Languages". Click on that gap and then click on an invisible option above " Back". Then the Atmospheric Nights menu should be opened :)
I think FCR3 mod really missses here. Its a mod that rebalances the game and makes some thing more balanced or fixes some things that should work that way.
Not really... But there are some things you can try: First download Script Merger and check for any compilations with other mods. Also make sure that you really followed the installation instructions from the creator on nexusmods so that you have the mod installed correctly. And last you could try to describe the bug your experiencing on google and see if other people have the same bug and fixes for it. Hope this helps :)
I would also recommend the NPC sword scabbard mod. It might not sound like much, but random soldiers look so much better with a scabbard rather than having their swords just floating on their bodies
Photorealistic Reshade + HD Textures + White Orchard Lighting Everywhere are the only three visual mods I will ever need for this game. I honestly think it’s perfect, and you can’t top perfection!
hello, ive a question regarding moids and reshade: those mods and reshade you have mentioned can be activated using only the reshade app or you have to download other apps to use them?? im new in this and I have no idea... Thk You !!
In case someone watch this after the next gen patch there are many mods that incompatible with the newest patch, here's some of the example in this video. Hd project reworked: doesn't need anymore because they implemented this in the new patch Super turbo lighting mod: works but for DX11 version, i haven't tested for DX12 but it's likely glitchy Meadow: doesn't work anymore (all grass mods were broken due to the next gen update) Aqua: doesn't work anymore (there's alternative water mod for the next gen, if i remember it's enhanced water.) Atmospheric night: there's next gen version for this, so it works Autumn flora ench: never tried this Next gen candle: idk about this, better not to try it More shadow: it works Improved Sign: same as atmospheric night Autoloot: same as atmospheric night
Don’t forget you need Immersive Real-time Cutscenes if you want the changes to NPCs (and Geralt included) to take effect during the pre-rendered sequences.
glad you mentioned STLM, I have the 3.2 ALT (darker/foggy novigrad) it looks so natural and realistic in game, it's by far the most consistent lighting mod. It makes the game so much more enjoyable, i was honestly shocked by the difference and i tried other lighting mods. For even more immersion Friendly HUD is a must have mod, you can make entire hud only appear in combat, it's entirely customizable in the mods menu, running around without hud is really immersive and if i need to check quest objective or the minimap all i gotta do is hold J or M, you also have 3d markers by using witcher sense so you won't be needing minimap very often
auto-apply oils is great for your 3rd playthrough sooooo much less menuing I also installed a mod to reduce the wind all over the game, 'cause trees aren't supposed to move like that
I will make another video about mods in a few weeks, where I'm also gonna explain a bit how you can install them. But it will not really be the perfect guide for beginners. However you can probably find some really good tutorials on RUclips, so I'd recommend to just search for easy beginner guides and you will probably find a video that will help you :)
Some "Quality of Life/Gameplay" Mods that don't break the game .. Auto Apply Oils .. Fast Travel from Anywhere .. Indestructible Boats .. Jump in Shallow Water .. No More Rolling Down Stairs .. those are just a few that just help the game flow and reduce some of the minutia/tedious crap that is meaningless .. I think at least one of these is in your "Part-Two" Vid ..
For Geralt's hair, I personally use "H2O - Heavy Hairworks Overhaul." It fixes the hair color and makes it look a lot denser and overall more like real hair IMO. I'd also suggest: All Quest Objectives On Map Friendly Hud (this is a must for me, and the first mod I downloaded for TW3, as I hate mini-maps in Open World games) Friendly Meditation Besserwisser Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style (swords and scabbards only)+Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update Alternate Ciri Leather Boots - No High Heels All NPC Scabbards Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want) Accessory Slot Mod Hoods For lighting I use Wiedzmin Lighting Mod + True To Life Rework reshade setting. I'm not a huge fan of the vanilla Griffin set so I use "Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style" (only extract the "modmcswordsnscabbards" file from the archive) and use the "Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update" for the armor retexture. The "Updated" armor doesn't require the original mod, but it also doesn't affect the swords/scabbards, which is why you should install the sword file (but not the armor file) from the "Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style" archive. Sorry if that was a little ramble-y. Also if you're going to use the Feline armor, I recommend activating the "debug console" and giving yourself the invisible mask (I think it's the "Geralt robbery mask" or "witch hunter mask"), so you don't have to wear the stupid grandmaster hood. Unless, of course, you like the hood, in which case you should probably consult a doctor. And I would explicitly advise AGAINST using the "Critical Slow Motion Combat Mod" as it broke my game which appears to be a common occurrence, judging by the comments on that mod's Nexus page.
@@plaiimade try Phoenix Lighting Mod Ultimate (or the latest version of Phoenix Lighting mod) trust me I thought Super Turbo was better and I used it first, then I switched back to phoenix and never came back ;)
The BEST thing about "Meadows" + "Autumn Flora Enhancement" + "Super Turbo Lightning Mod" is that this mods will tottaly transform the graphics, without having to mess with the complicated (and, sometimes, buggy) Reshade. You only have to add the mod to the proper folder inside the local files. Thanks for the recomendation, the game runs smooth and beautifull, I endorse these mods.
I hate mods that use community base mod, the shared and stuff mods.. They are Effing annoying when one thing isn't playing nice it ruins everything. Can't be doing with all that fannying around with script merger and stuff. I found it to give me tons of problems. I'm using basic mods at the moment, the one that gives you supreme and extreme settings, immersive lighting, a couple addons to them like the 420 grass works really well tbh. Would like more improvements but that increased detail in the distance mod just nah it requires the other stuff so it hates me. Well done getting it working and looking as well as you did.
also i have the no dirty lens effect mod and the other one for no water on the camera lens and the lens flare removal too. They help with immersion. Everytime there is drops or lens flares on the camera lens it just kills the immersion for me reminds me im just a camera instead of being geralt
Super Turbo lighting Mod is so overrated, it's broken, there are alot better with some actual real time reflections on puddles "PHOENIX LIGHTING MOD" is the real deal.
That mod is so broken aswell , i tried all light mods all are broken ,phoenix changes water and makes it muddy plus breakes reflecfions in i doors pools etc. Vanilla light is best trust me
Awesome video! And yes like mentioned many mods you say didn’t work with you can be fixed with load order or scrip adjustments, W3 script language is not to hard
I NEED VIDEO HOW TO INSTALL MODS FOR WITCHER 3 PLS! Seriously.. I suck at this. Found an old vid explaining mod manager and script merger, but that didn't work for me. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm trying an outdated solution.
If you download a mod from nexusmods there is usually also a README.txt file which explains to you how you need to install the mod step by step. If you just follow those instructions it should be an relative easy thing to do :D
Brother, thank you for sharing your great video with us. It helped a lot of witcher fans just to see what you can make of this beautiful game the witcher 3. God bless you man!
The coolest mod on the appearance of Geralt Gwynbleidd is Lore Friendly Geralt Retexture. I always use it. In this mod, the changes are made in moderation, tastefully and bring the image of the hero closer to the book look. At the same time, the mod is compatible with others, does not cause conflicts and bugs. And I think that mods like autoloot destroy the gameplay, deprive the game of the main thing - the player's interaction with the world.
For everyone seeing this. As an experienced w3 modder for a couple years. This is a video not made by a proper knowledgeable w3 modder. I would not recommend this video to anyone.
the only problem i have with all these mods is the infinite loading screen glitch that happens whenever i die. have a really nice pc, ultra settings on everything, i run the game on hdd (idk if that's the problem)? whoever has the same problem lmk how to fix it thx 👍🏻
Check if you installed all the mods correctly, then you can also download & use a script merger to check for any problems between the mods. Last if nothing helps try describing your problem on google and if you're lucky someone else had the same problem and maybe a fix for it aswell. Now I've seen somewhere that infinite loading screens is something that can be fixed by the mod limit remover (you'll find it on nexusmods) but I'm not 100% sure. So I'd recommend to do the things above first and then try to install the mod limit remover
I think the auto-applay oil mod is very practical, you don't have to open your inventory each time you encounter an ennemy is automatically select the right oil.
@D_ans I agree with you for a boss fight but when you encounter small monsters like drowners, or Nekkers, it get's annoying really fast to open your inventory each time !
I can't get the Meadows mod to work at all. When I install it everything is flat like it's the fairway on a golf course. Plus I get infinite loading screens at random.
I had a similar problem once too, try things like Script Merger to check for compilations with other mods and maybe also install "Mod Limit fix" if you have many mods installed, infinite loading screens sounds like a problem that could be solved by doing that
What perfection could be in one video, I started the game in 2017, and still around the 3rd mission maybe, but after watching your video, I'm gonna mess with mods until I'm satisfied with the quality, and start playing it soon :D
That is a mistake on my part, a lot of people mentionned that these two mods are incompatible. So I'd recommend to just go ahead without the AQUA water mod
Was playing with the camera for some time and just didn't like it that much. I just prefer vanilla camera settings, but that totally depends on opinion!
You should really give Enhanced Edition a try at least once. Especially if you're going back to the game after a while. It'll be like playing a completely new game. The combat is a thousand times more enjoyable as well, though it does have a learning curve. Combine it with Random Encounters Reworked, and Vlad UI and you're playing The Witcher 4 early access.
We have very similar taste in mods. The only difference is I went with immersive lighting & friendly hud. I prefer immersive lighting because it adds a more realistic gritty tone/look to the game world. Absolutely love it in Velen. Edit: I also chose Elysium over meadows. Somehow it improved my fps overall by about 3-5 depending on the area.
wow editing the settings file to increase the grass density and render distance absolutely TANKS fps! I have a 3080ti and Intel 11600k and lost about 30fps on average plus frame time spikes started to exist when they didn't before, I lock my witcher 3 to 100fps but after editing those files it would drop below that and was stuttery, pity.
That's really shit to hear, even more when because this problem hasn't happened to me. Unfortunately I don't really know how you could fix that, just make sure it is really the fault of editing the files(and no other mod incompabilities), and if that is really the case, then I'd leave the vanilla files intact cause that sounds like it sucks :/
@@plaiimade I didn't expect a reply so thank you, and hey I still appreciate the video, do you not notice any fps drop at all when you alter to grass settings via the ini file?
Sometimes my game would stutter a bit, but nothing that really was a long term issue. I really played with all of those mods and the modified files for a long time and it was all fine, for me atleast
Has anyone tried this combination of mods? I have Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop with a Ryzen 5600H and a RTX 3060 and I'm wondering what the performance hit will be like.

how about a mod that fixex the graphics on pc ? you set textures on ultra there is shimmering becauso of LODs , the ingame anti aliasing is a made up form of fxx and taa and is blurry, the sharpening on low when anti aliasing is off is too sharp, the texture quality on high doesnt look high enough , when set on ultra the pc can use more vram than on high but looks worse ? i have known some badly optimized games but witcher 3 (talking about 1.32 classic version not next gen which is trash) is just graphical optimization hell. cant even enjoy thedamn game on my 1440p monitor, i guess you need a minimum of 4k display

@@LegendaryGlasses I think the best way is to safe your game in the Royale Palace in Vizima. Look at the lighting without the mod installed, then install the mod and load the same checkpoint and see if the lighting has changed. You can also see in the video how much the lighting in the Royale Palace changes, so you should notice it if the mod works.
Also thanks for all the nice things!
If only I could use mods like these for console
I have this same problem with my Switch games.
I can't use Zelda mods on it as it is a console.
RUclips mangles the PQ of this video, man.. Just FYI.
the smearing of light sources in STLM is not acceptable. If you come from photo and film making, you can not understand why such worse failures are added as features- same as mud screen or water droplets. why should i get the feeling of carrying a dirty glass screen in front of my head or wear smeary glasses? how is that immersive? it is annoying and a deal breaker.
Fair enough that makes sense... I still like it tho, at least sometimes. But it definitely isn't something good
What is the order of installation of the mods?
I don't think there is really an order in which you need to install these, it should hopefully work in any way you do it
@@plaiimade thanks, i tried the mods and it really good :)
@@pedrocazador22 no worries, I'm glad that you like them!
Are there any new gear mods?
Do you mean mods that add new armor, hoods and clothes to the game? If you do, there are many mods like this around!
@@plaiimade Exactly, especially swords. You should make a video about these then.
Do you use any reshade?
Very nice work
thank you for this

Playing right know with mods on the steam deck 🤓
Hi, how can i display the menu for mod atmospheric night? I don't see it in the settings.. ty
Hello ! When I put the meadows mod the grass Is really buggy 🥲. You know why ?
Not really... But there are some things you can try: First download Script Merger and check for any compilations with other mods. Also make sure that you really followed the installation instructions from the creator on nexusmods so that you have the mod installed correctly. And last you could try to describe the bug your experiencing on google and see if other people have the same bug and fixes for it. Hope this helps :)
I would also recommend the NPC sword scabbard mod. It might not sound like much, but random soldiers look so much better with a scabbard rather than having their swords just floating on their bodies
and add in the dirty NPC scabbards mod and it'll look and FEEL immersive
Best showcase of mods - I really love that you show the difference in the same scene so I can compare
thanks :)
Thk You !!
A lot of the mods that you couldn’t get to work are actually very simple to fix. Either by using a script merger or adjust your mods load priority.
How do you adjust the mod load priority again I haven't modded ina while is it renaming the mods?
@Sir Soma I don't think a manger is recommended for modding
In case someone watch this after the next gen patch there are many mods that incompatible with the newest patch, here's some of the example in this video.
Hd project reworked: doesn't need anymore because they implemented this in the new patch
Super turbo lighting mod: works but for DX11 version, i haven't tested for DX12 but it's likely glitchy
Meadow: doesn't work anymore (all grass mods were broken due to the next gen update)
Aqua: doesn't work anymore (there's alternative water mod for the next gen, if i remember it's enhanced water.)
Atmospheric night: there's next gen version for this, so it works
Autumn flora ench: never tried this
Next gen candle: idk about this, better not to try it
More shadow: it works
Improved Sign: same as atmospheric night
Autoloot: same as atmospheric night
Don’t forget you need Immersive Real-time Cutscenes if you want the changes to NPCs (and Geralt included) to take effect during the pre-rendered sequences.
Have you found any crash issues with that mod?
glad you mentioned STLM, I have the 3.2 ALT (darker/foggy novigrad) it looks so natural and realistic in game, it's by far the most consistent lighting mod.
What about hd monsters reworked mod? I just want to know why you didn't like it.
auto-apply oils is great for your 3rd playthrough sooooo much less menuing
I also installed a mod to reduce the wind all over the game, 'cause trees aren't supposed to move like that
Can you make a video about how to install the mods I’m relatively new to the pc Community, please🥺❤️
I'd also suggest:
All Quest Objectives On Map
Friendly Hud (this is a must for me, and the first mod I downloaded for TW3, as I hate mini-maps in Open World games)
Friendly Meditation
Besserwisser
Griffin Armour Retexture Witcher on the Path-Style (swords and scabbards only)+Griffin Armour (On The Path) Update
Alternate Ciri Leather Boots - No High Heels
All NPC Scabbards
Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)
Accessory Slot Mod
Hoods
For lighting I use Wiedzmin Lighting Mod + True To Life Rework reshade setting.
Wow dude you really took some time to write that comment. And you suggested some amazing mods, thanks for that I‘ll try those!
Critical Slow Motion Combat did work for me but it does seem like many people have problems - so I think your advice is fair :)

Super Turbo lighting Mod is so overrated, it's broken, there are alot better with some actual real time reflections on puddles "PHOENIX LIGHTING MOD" is the real deal.
indeed. just because it's the most downloaded, doesnt mean it's the best.
IMO I think it's the one that looks the best, but ofc Phoenix Lighning is amazing aswell :D
That mod is so broken aswell , i tried all light mods all are broken ,phoenix changes water and makes it muddy plus breakes reflecfions in i doors pools etc. Vanilla light is best trust me
Fuck I just realised that the game still looks so beautiful without the mods also
absolutely true
Appreciate it, thank you!
Aw shit sry man :( I'd love to know whats wrong with my video, so I can improve for future ones...
the only problem i have with all these mods is the infinite loading screen glitch that happens whenever i die. have a really nice pc, ultra settings on everything, i run the game on hdd (idk if that's the problem)? whoever has the same problem lmk how to fix it thx 👍🏻
No fast travel signpost in Bloody Baron’s keep?
I think the auto-applay oil mod is very practical, you don't have to open your inventory each time you encounter an ennemy is automatically select the right oil.
@D_ans I agree with you for a boss fight but when you encounter small monsters like drowners, or Nekkers, it get's annoying really fast to open your inventory each time !
I see a few that you listed that I would love to add, but last time I did my mods got everything working perfectly and would hate to redo it
try making a duplicate of your installation of the game, then you can mess around with whatever you want and it should be okay (it worked for me :D)
I can't get the Meadows mod to work at all. When I install it everything is flat like it's the fairway on a golf course. Plus I get infinite loading screens at random.
I had a similar problem once too, try things like Script Merger to check for compilations with other mods and maybe also install "Mod Limit fix" if you have many mods installed, infinite loading screens sounds like a problem that could be solved by doing that
What perfection could be in one video, I started the game in 2017, and still around the 3rd mission maybe, but after watching your video, I'm gonna mess with mods until I'm satisfied with the quality, and start playing it soon :D
thx & have fun!
I'm doing it right now
Auto Loot should be a thing in new RPG game , i used it in AC origins as a unlockable skill it changes the whole game

i'm realy interested in absolute camera mod. ¿Can i ask you why you did't like it?
Was playing with the camera for some time and just didn't like it that much. I just prefer vanilla camera settings, but that totally depends on opinion!
You should really give Enhanced Edition a try at least once. Especially if you're going back to the game after a while. It'll be like playing a completely new game. The combat is a thousand times more enjoyable as well, though it does have a learning curve.
Combine it with Random Encounters Reworked, and Vlad UI and you're playing The Witcher 4 early access.
I don't like Meadows mod. It removes all the brown grasses, which makes absolutely zero sense in MOST of the world the game takes place in.
Guy where is More Quick Slots?

wow editing the settings file to increase the grass density and render distance absolutely TANKS fps!
@@plaiimade I didn't expect a reply so thank you, and hey I still appreciate the video, do you not notice any fps drop at all when you alter to grass settings via the ini file?

some others also had the same problem, so it's kinda confusing, but I'll try to help nontheless.
First make sure that you are at the right path, when you're on desktop click the windows icon in the bottom left corner, then click the documents icon on the left side bar. Next find the The Witcher 3 folder that should be located somewhere in that documents folder. If you open it there should be a user.settings file. Next right click the file and choose to open it with editor, then you should be able to edit and change it. When I did this my file actually duplicated itself, so at the moment I have two user.settings documents. And I can only change/edit one of them, so you'll need to see what happens for you and edit the right document.
I hope this will help a bit, if not feel free to answer back and I'll try to help again!
