      She did it wrong though
You have slick it with a brush then wrap, or blow dry mostly straight
And then wrap it not twist it, and make sure it’s as close to your face not in the middle of your head
It takes practice and a couple trial and errors but it’s definitely doable 😊
We have to do a couple more steps as curly girls but I’d always do my hair like that in highschool and college saved me years of damaging it 👍🏻

You have to comb scalp hair slick then put a old school fabric headband on top of scalp like pulling a halo over your head. Then wrap 1 inch sections around the headband tight while adding more hair but dont pass 1 inch thickness. I have curly thick hair and it works that way. Run blower on cool to make sure scalp is dry. The drier your hair is when doing this the quicker it dries. You're putting too much hair and its loose so your curl pattern even though its thin is still noticable. Also that fabric used on that tool is not gonna work for curls it wont let you wrap it tight to form a new curl pattern. That tool is for limp straight hair

Mel- in THEORY it should work fantastically once we straighten it and it’s ruined earlier than expected. Instead of a washday I THINK that without dampening using one of those things on our SMOOTHED hair WILL work. My course smoothed hair wave ringlets perfectly if I finger coil straightened hair. It’s definitely a surprise. I don’t know how or why- my guess is the damaged straightened hair regains a quarter of its actual curl or wave if you dampen straightened hair with a gel on your hands for a thicker sized portion of already straight hair. It’s a hack for sure a hack I haven’t seen. But I ve been doing it when I straighten for years. I just don’t straighten my own anymore. ❤

So the scarf curl wrap you did in the other video was a better success huh?!🤔 I'm not really sure how using a scarf would be any different than using the rolled silk tool that you used in this video when you got the much better desired results. Now, your approach and technique in this video was definitely different from the other one you did with the scarf but I'm not sure you gave this a fair chance. Well... for one, you started with blow dried hair in the video with the heatless scarf curls video but you should have gotten the same results with this silk rod tool as you did in the other video especially if you had started out with blow dried hair. Also, another person noticed and commented that your technique was different too and I must concur with them (they mentioned the way you wrapped the hair around the tool was different, and I noticed that too. You twisted the hair as you wrapped it around the tool instead of smoothing and combing it through as you did in the heatless scarf video. Therefore, your results are going to be way different lol. Another difference is that in this video you try this with wet hair and with the other one (scarf heatless curls) you did it with dry hair and got better results and you were more patient with drying time but obviously no real drying time involved but you let it stay in overnight. I'm curious as to exactly how long you let it dry for was it overnight or not because if not that be a major difference too. Why would you rush one way of styling it and not the other, but if your hair is dry versus wet starting out you got to realize you're going to need to double your allotted time for drying if your trying to do this "heatless" also. Making sure your hair is completely dry before you take the hair tool out is definitely key and will give different results. Your technique and approach using the scarf and the silk rod is different but had you used the same technique and wrap method then you would have probably gotten the same results. I think you should redo this video and do a comparative analysis of dry vs wet hair for both tools, and keep the techniques the same that way your giving each tool a fair shake. This is blow dried hair on each tool vs wet hair on each tool (scarf vs silk rod wet vs blow dried hair)...🧐🤷🏽‍♀️ just a thought 😏😉

I have to start with blowdried straight hair, so if I've already straightened it one day, and want a different look for the next day or two, I'll do this. I do have to VERY lightly spray it with water. After wrapping, I'll use a little bit of hairspray and go to bed. A little hair oil after removing it in the morning, and it's good to go.

And then obviously you sound when you break up the cross but make sure your hair is completely dry. I have 3B 3C hair and I realize since I was like teen I want to say that my hair will dry however I said it while it's wet. It's just having the right products. And I never used to get my hair professionally done for like a terrible experience as a kid so I would never like straighten it or do straight styles. so I master doing techniques like this I think before they were Tik-Tok trends. just make sure your hair is very smooth and then give it enough time to fully dry with a setting styling product I like moose those wrapping mooses are like amazing. especially when you want your hair to retain curl

I believe this is for people with straight hair... I don't think you're supposed to add curl on top of curly hair....?

Doesn’t even work on my 3a curls lol!

I think you’d have to blow dry or straighten your hair first. Might as well use foam curlers at that point though 🤷🏽‍♀️

I don't know if maybe this was the problem, but for one you twisted it while wrapping around.

Right! That is not for our hair.

That satin material and the way you wrapped it are why. Find one with different fabric and do not twist the hair. Comb it flat.

I think it's because your hair is already naturally curly

I prefer a medium curl verses the teeny tiny curl look on you i think its gorgeous.
But i guess its preference, it looks like you like very tight curls

Have you ever considered giving the repair the time of day or a scientific breakdown for the curlies who need something lazier than a Dyson?

You don't need to do this. Your curls are beautiful, and with this technique, your hair is completely a mess 🤔

This would work for you if you blow dry your hair 1st

I wouldn’t touch this "technique" with a 10 foot pole, it screams to me wavy frizzy limp tangly hair all over. 😅
