I enjoyed this special. Monk is such an underrated show and a positive and a negative to this was it felt EXACTLY like another episode of the show. It felt familiar and comfortable. It didn’t really feel like a movie but I really liked being back with these characters and everyone played them like they never left!

Great review! I was a little dissapointed with this movie overall, thought the script was poor and very few laughs... but was happy to see the cast back together. I guess none of these reunion type shows/ movies can live up to your expectations.

So Hector Elizondo is retired from acting? I wonder if Dr. Bell saying he was retired then was a reference to the actor being retired then. Probably and nice reference then. Probably getting some good residuals from both Monk and Last Man Standing TV shows he was on anyway, so probably doesn't need to keep acting.

      He's 87. I sure hope he's retired.

I didn't like it at all. Monk wasn't Monk and Randy wasn't Randy. I stopped watching Monk when they said that Trudy had a daughter. That ruined the whole story line. I checked in once in a while and when Randy married Sharona and moved to New Jersey that was it. I never watched it again.

I agree with you. I was a diehard Monk fan, and the last episode rubbed me wrong, too. The ending was trash, Trudy's tape served as a cheap deus ex machina, and undermined Adrian's decade and a half of torment. I guess the new Adrian "makes sense" in a bargain bin schlock, hack writing sort of way-- he lost his will to live since he solved Trudy's case. I despised the movie, but the ending was particularly bad. I stopped it when they turned into Touched by an Angel.

Big fan of the show, didn’t care much for this film however. Felt lazy and empty, the soul was not there, and I found the villan to be formulaic, bondesque in the worst way? And overall just not as intelligent, cunning and diabolical as some of the better villans from the show such as dale the whale, the judge, the chess master, etc
