The post office is a crappy job now too...they let them work 364 days, "fire" them, then rehire so they don't have to pay benefits...

200 stops 300+ packages.. No breaks. That is what Amazon wants the average delivery driver's day to be.
It's unreasonable, unsustainable and downright inhumane.
Then to not even make 20 an hour when we all know they should making more than that.

This Pontiac Station is in high volume for packages. These Amazonians go through between 90k -120k packages all on fast production lines that get increased during sale periods like this. They are required to stay 50-60hr weeks and are sometimes scheduled last minute without any pto coverage given. So imagine working a 2nd job while dealing with 10hr shifts here, that require you to work past your physical limits each shift overnight. I think unions are what they need at Amazon. Each station is different, but knowing how much management pushes these people to reach corporate set quotas. It falls on the backs of the associates and the drivers. Which is why alot of stuff is brought back to fulfillment centers if there is not enough help to meet these high quotas in just one day.

We need to get rid of the idea of "personal responsibility". It's something Reagan pushed to avoid being held responsible for his bad decisions. We need to once again find social responsibility. We are all part of an economy and a society and we all share responsibility for it. Everyone in the US has a tiny bit of responsibility for everything that happens in it. It's the only way crime can be solved, or homelessness can be solved. If everyone accepts the social responsibility in solving the problems in their country. We have had 40 years of just victim blaming and saying it's their "personal responsibility" and the problem has not gone away, it's only gotten worse.

I worked at the Amazon Sortation center in Lancaster, NY (outside of Buffalo, NY) and Union City, GA(outside of Atlanta) and alright I liked working there because it was fast paced.... Those 4-5 hours you work feel 12 as fast as those packages come and and fast as they want you to work. Only reason I left is because they offered me a permanent position in a department I didn't want. If I could have stayed on the line I would have but keep working on getting promoted.

I am not in the game. But Amazon will never let the workers unionize. These people are at-will employees. Amazon have and will simply fire them. The Teamsters are making them big promises but they don’t have any teeth. The Union can’t do anything about the people who get terminated. Because the employees are not union. And if they want to go to court. Amazon will say go for it. Spend your millions over the next ten years of litigation. Home Depot fought them off the same way. They just closed the stores that voted to unionize, and opened new stores with different people. These people best get to work, or find another company to work for that is best for their needs.
