The elephant in the room is the 19th Amendment and feminism, broadly. While both are outside the Church to speak, both reflected and also drove, the culture. The church mirrored that.
Great discussion. The kind of (often parachurch) generic evangelicalism that helped form me was definitely the “minimalist” variety that you guys discuss. It was almost as if John 3:16 (rich as it is) was all that was consulted in forming the overall theology. Also, I think the discussion you guys have about how attitudes toward institutional Christianity are related to eschatology is really helpful and important.
