Thanks for the tip. I wouldn't mind doing this on a one story house, but mine is 2 stories, probably 25 feet high, and I just don't feel comfortable getting up there. So I hired someone to get up there.
But on my one story garage I'm gonna fix a leak.

I had nightmare leaks beginning after a year from the install by a transient Hispanic crew hired by a local company after a hurricane ripped 100 tabs off. I had no leaks even with that many tabs missing. They shingled the house in one day. The guy with the fast nail gun ripped across the shingles with lightning speed and misplaced dozens of nails. As soon as the heads rusted out, the leaks began. There were so many that I purchased a metal detector to spot the misplaced nails. That was a slow process to cover the whole roof but eventually I came up with 2 to 3 dozen misplaced nails. Some of the nails had actually pushed themselves up and were visible. The bad thing is that I had warned the guy to slow down with the nail gun. I speak Spanish very well, so he had no problem understanding me. I chased one of the leaks for nearly a year before I found a nail that had pushed its way through the shingle and was very visible. My ceiling and wall are stained in the area of the leak and I'm afraid to open up the wall to see how much damage was made. The contractor was absolutely no help at all during the whole ordeal. Next time I will find some local roofers and give up on transients who are in a big hurry to get it over with and leave town. After a hurricane it is extremely hard to get local roofers. That's why the Hispanic groups take advantage of the situation. The problem is that they are gone and never to return and contractors will not face up to the situation.

Wow what a take to tell! Thanks for sharing that info. Definitely a reason to shop local. Glad you were able to fix much of that yourself

I think the only better fix is to replace the roof
