    Hello, I'm a Haitian citizen. Haiti is a founding member of the Caribbean community. But unfortunately, because of the catastrophic situation of my country, we have been relegated to the last rank. We can't enjoy all the benefits to which we would be entitled with our passport. But I'm still hopeful. One day Haiti will rise from the ashes and once again become the pearl of the Antilles.

    Thanks to watching you Andrew I actually made sure to get my Caribbean passport (in this case Trinidad & Tobago) as both my parents are from there. The unbelievable thing is, I paid less to get that full passport (£44) than I paid to renew my UK passport (£75)! Crazy.
    Knowing that T&T is part of Caricom means I can stay in several islands, not just T&T; in addition, the embassy tells me that spending time in Latin America is less likely to attract the 'wrong' attention because, as you've said, coming from a small island isn't really cause for concern.

      Having a US and United Kingdom passport isn’t really diversification? It’s pretty much the same passport. Too high paying tax countries and the UK is isn’t part of the European Union anymore. Most Black people whether they’re born there or they naturalized have UK 🇬🇧 US 🇺🇸 Canada 🇨🇦 Australian 🇦🇺 passports because those countries allow black immigrants to migrate there, but not the EU countries.

    I am from Dominica, and survived the aforementioned hurricane years ago, and yes we are well underway with developing a climate resilient island nation. Proud to say that we are home to world's first sperm whale reserve, as well as the world's 2nd largest boiling lake (2nd to New Zealand). Probably the closest place to the garden of eden on the planet. We have no dangerous wildlife, probably the freshest water on the planet, and some of the most hospitable people you'll ever meet. If you want this citizenship it is well worth it, and I say to anyone with doubts, come visit and see for yourself. For a small island there's always something great to do outdoors, and you'll do so while breathing some of the purest air on earth. If you hold another island's citizenship you're free to visit as long as you wish since we have open borders to our sister islands.

    Sounds great, but just keep in mind certain Caribbean countries are geo blocked.
    At least you can do monetization on RUclips etc and much easier to do a remote job (well many people probably does, but most of us are doing a physical 9-5 job) and gotta keep in mind the cost of living in certain countries out here as well and do some research about the value of their currency.
    (You also gotta keep in mind using a VPN for doing certain things online)
    While the US dollar maybe good and is maybe more money from $1 USD from the currency of that country well... while yes, that's true, but most visitors in some countries don't like high the prices since certain products are much cheaper in international countries.
    At least you mentioned the hurricanes though...
    I'm not complaining, or stopping you guys from doing this, but while this is a great opportunity especially emergency purposes (like in case where you are something happens), but please keep that in mind.

    Surely the best reason to do a Caribbean CBI is that Trump keeps saying he's going to scrap citizenship-based taxation. If that happens, then a US citizen could become tax resident on Antigua or St. Kitts and pay no income tax or CGT (Dominica has income taxes). Logically it makes sense to become a citizen of one of those two because it helps win the argument with the IRS when it comes to the tie-breaker rule (Dominicans can live there, but then so can US citizens without too much difficulty, citizenship though helps cement the argument that you are tax resident there). No doubt there will then follow some sort of crackdown, so it's a limited time opportunity albeit a big bet, because it's unclear what Congress will actually do. Living on Antigua or St. Kitts year round isn't really practical because they have very high custom duties and VAT, but if you spend 90+ days there you can be tax resident. So you either spend some time in another country, or you spend 182 days in the US and 183 days in the Caribbean and potentially pay no US income tax or CGT. If that law is repealed. Big "if".

    If i were going to live in a carribean country I would want to live in Cuba. I tend to like Communist countries or countries with authoritarian governments. So far I have lived in China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Brazil, Chile, Philippines and Peru and I like China, Vietnam and Cambodia the best. Not only can I speak the languages at a higher level but I like the music, food, government, and I think the ladies in these countries are the best looking. I can also work as a teacher in these countries. i didn't leave the USA for economic reasons I left for political reasons. Americans always told me that if I do not like the US government I should leave so I am doing what they told me to and I left and I am happier living in Cambodia than I have ever been in the USA.

Well piracy is really just boat assisted robbery/assault so any country with a crime problem and lots of coast will see some of that unless you have a very diligent coast guard. Not sure if those countries have ever been accused of such …
      I also doubt there is any piracy going on in waters patrolled by either the French, British or US navy(most of lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico and French Guyana) as that would be more than a little ballsy.

Likewise there are islands like Trinidad or Aruba that are very close to Venezuela, making timely interception before they leave territorial waters difficult from a purely logistical pov.
      The French especially have several military bases and harbours in the area and they consider the islands there part of France. Apart from that think ports, pirates need a base of operations, I.e. a country either so corrupt they tolerate them or incompetent enough to not notice them. Stay far away from those places.

    I have a question for anyone who may know......if the USA Government puts in travel restrictions for a country, do ALL US Citizens need to leave even if they are Permanent Resident of the affected country?
    I'm wondering because today there's reports of "cartel" members in Mexico shooting over the Mexican/USA border. I'm concern that the new president Trump could enact travel restrictions that are attached to his proclamation that the Cartel are terrorists and put in a travel ban in Mexico. Sounds a bit extreme but so is everything else he is doing. I'm really concerned.

    • @PinkieSmith
      @PinkieSmith 23 часа назад +1

      I don’t see how travel restrictions have anything to do with residency. A travel restriction just means you’re restricted to where you can travel to.
      Individual countries decide which restrictions to put in place for residents (ex: can’t vote if a non-citizen), visitors (ex: can’t work without a work visa), citizens (ex: not allowed to travel to certain countries), or against certain countries (ex: those Muslim bans).
      If you’re a permanent resident in another country, keep living your best life. If that country wants you out, they’ll let you know. I seriously doubt the U.S. can force you to come back, unless you’re a wanted criminal.

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 23 часа назад

      @PinkieSmith That's what I was thinking. But then I thought about Iran, North Korea and Cuba, and at least months ago US citizens weren't allowed to travel there. I'm thinking on those lines if things got really ugly. And yes I'll stay right where I'm at. 👍
