A true advocate for children with cancer, Karen Mims isn't your ordinary middle school student. By choosing to shave her head, Mims raised money for The St. Baldrick's Foundation to help children afflicted with cancer and the families of young cancer patients who need financial help. As a child of deployed military personnel, Mims knows the loneliness that children with cancer experience. Wanting to let these children know that they are not alone, Mims sacrificed her hair as a show of moral support to children with cancer.
