100% agree with a lot of comments. I don’t watch ex JW videos for childish commentary and juvenile jokes about the governing body. I watch for a thoughtful analysis regarding a fairytale religion that dominated every waking moment of my life for 18 years. Thank you for being a thoughtful voice in a crowded clickbait space

Lloyd’s “voice” was the first activist voice I heard. The first message that resonated was the WT handling of CSA. I don’t pay attention to the ad hominem attacks of Lloyd. Move to strike as non responsive. Lloyd, we love to see ya. Having said that there are other activists who might appeal to others. Lloyd is great and other activists are great is not a conflict. The humorously serious style Lloyd has is still for me like a Macallan Scotch. Classic. Right Uncle Tony?!

My point is that I have seen other ex-JW videos create “reaction videos” in regards to Lloyd, which is fine…it’s actually how I found his content in the 1st place and started watching all of his ex-bethelite interviews.
It’s not a competition, but at the same time I’m not interested in sound bites, memes, or jokes to discredit the JW religion. Personally, a comprehensive break down of the flaws and control tactics help me rationalize how & why my college educated family members still somehow believe in a Dr. Suess equivalent and forced me to do so for my entire childhood

I remember the days when I was fully indoctrinated and I would feel so bad if an older person I witnessed to rejected my message. I would say to my field service partner “how sad for a person to have lived all those years without coming to know Jehovah.” Now being happily awake for several years and seeing that older couple, now 98 and 99 years old, I was shaking my head and thinking: “how sad for that older couple to have slaved all those years for this cult!” Lloyd I too felt bad for them. Thank you for all your hard work! It has really made a difference to so many of us. My husband stumbled upon JW Survey back in 2014/2015 when in his distress he was seeking answers about the request for resolved monthly donations. We eventually left in 2017 and never looked back after being indoctrinated for over 40 years. The governing body is clearly a joke!
I used to work with a Jehovah's witness and he told me that even if Armageddon does not arrive he will still remain as a Jehovah's witness. I say good luck to him. But are the numbers dropping in the watchtower organization and is it true that many are leaving the watchtower organization

It never ceases to amaze me how the Governing Body tells you what the Bible means (especially when it clearly doesn't mean what they say it means) after reading a scripture. Then they tell you how you feel about it. The audience of the Governing Body has given up thinking
They ( GB) tell the JW body what Jehovah thinks and why he does things the way he does. Didnt you know that? They just know. But they admit (reluctantly) they are not inspired - only guided by God if you know what we mean- because God does fills their heads ( not inspired mind you, just guided) with riddles and ambiguous thoughts which must be revealed to the JW masses as "truths" only to be then partially or wholly retracted for an update of "new truth". I cant help notice the similarity of this leadership to George Orwells "1984" where there is a Ministry of Truth that determines what is truth and for how long that truth lasts.
@fifthdimension1984 The highest complement you can give someone in George Orwell's 1984 is to call him a double plus good duck speaker. This is because the government in 1984 forbids a handful of words every year, and the indoctrinated must make do and talk funny (not like JWs)
Amen. I'm actually going to a therapist for some stuff. 7 years out and I was actually expecting my therapist to just tell me what I should think/feel. Instead he's helping me think on things and come to my own conclusion/undertlstanding.

Actually, it's not only baptized JWs that will survive. It's only active baptized JWs, who attend every meeting and nod along with all the new light and accept the GB as "the truth". Of course you are correct, a baby can't do this.....
Great rebuttal, as usual. I just think that the tribulation change is big for jws. It basically gives them hope that their df or ds family/friends would be able to repent last minute

I think the new light of the great tribulation could be big if witnesses thought critically about it thoroughly - because now we have the opportunities for death bed repentances or repentance/baptism once we have tangible evidence for Jehovah’s Kingdom. If I was still a witness I would definitely take that as a green light to leave and do my own thing until that time comes 😅
Just a side note. I’m in Australia, yesterday on abc news (a well respected news channel) there was a report on a CSA case in WA… it wasn’t favourable!

This is a huge deal! I was raised with this belief! As a 6 and seven year old i wished my father would die now before 1975, so he would die before the great tribulation. I spent my whole child hood wishing my beloved father would die so he could survive. It was torture. If i thought he would be able to see the great tribulation, change his mind and survive, that would of made a huge difference to my childhood! They tortued me with that old light. I am furious that they are joking and laughing through this change. I think it is criminal to laugh over that new light!
Whenever I hear that ‘ Jehovah ‘ is giving new light etc etc. It reminds me of a cat tormenting and toying with a mouse.
I don’t know how my son , who is an elder can sit and listen to all this same old nonsense. Year after year after year.

How is it that they claim that they are uninspired and still claim that Jah is directing their decisions.? If God is guiding your decisions aren't you being inspired on which decision to make? Is their an actual difference or is this just another word game
Ah yes that is the paradox right? We are not inspired by God ( too many mistakes being made to claim that) BUT we ARE guided by God and the GB is moved by holy spirit to make the "correct" decisions on matters - which might require more corrections at a later date btw- and He only reveals things in small doses. The rank and file dont raise their hand to ask how come because it will lead them to the judicial process and we all know what the outcome of that usually will be.
If the GB were ever to tell JWs that they now used a dedicated phone direct to God in their chambers (wireless of course), the sad fact is that most JWs would accept that because the GB cant be wrong.

The new light is important and it does change who will survive. Now people can convert even when it is objectively clear JWs are the "truth". It means that there's no point in being a JW now. Just wait and see if Great Tribulation comes and if it does, "return to Jehovah". That is a big deal.
Though I am a faded JW, I do absolutely believe 100% that the "end of this system" will arrive. I do accept the prophecy discussed in Daniel concerning the statue ( as the march of the world powers) being smashed out of existence and replaced by the "rock" of gods kingdom and that humans will live on earth forever and only God knows what after that. To me its logical and makes sense. It's what the "lords prayer" emphatically states in saying "thy kingdom come...thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"... That said, God/ Jehovah/ Yahweh being the ultimate reality and the source of intelligence itself will no doubt clean this system up once and for all and allow humans to live as was intended- in harmony with God, themselves and nature. Such a society still needs to learn and build things and use the resources of the planet ( and probably eventually beyond that). Of this I have no doubt. How and when this transition occurs will stun everyone , including JWs.
Thank you Lloyd for this. In my opinion, if you did nothing else but annual meeting rebuttals and regional convention rebuttals, you would maintain a huge following. Its in these two areas that JW's produce the most nonsense. They feel as though they can say absolutely anything and get away with it as you see here in this annual meeting.

You are so right about wishing it was easier a long time ago..people gave years of basically free labor away. As I child I was forced to go out in field service and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. I wish there was only 2 meetings a week when I was dragged to the hall. These new witnesses have it way easier. They still get bamboozled on everyday basis.

Lloyd i enjoy your podcasts a great deal. I fell away from the Jehovah's Witness Religion more than 20 years ago. I fell away because of how hypocritical things were. For the most part they didn't practice what they preached. Back then they were all about the money, and It shouldn't be that way. I basically got treated bad because my family was impoverished, and i didn't have a good job at the time. At the time the Elders, and others in the congregation said things that hurt my feelings, and I never have gotten over it to this day. People that are supposed to be good christians, can be all about material things. But during the meetings they are just putting on airs. So many people that claim to be servers of Jehovah are pure hypocrites. True christians should care about one another.

Dear Lloyd... IMO you have a good voice style and manner of articulating issues that people can understand. I know you have had your ups & downs but by and large you are good to listen to and though sometimes i think you go on some what I would call "inane" topics or try to make an issue from things that i would consider very minor issues, you nonetheless do a good job overall. You would make an excellent radio host or broadcaster for subjects not only concerning religious matters but just normal life matters. Cheers

Yes its an obvious question is it not? The GB says they are neither inspired nor infallible .....but Jehovah guides us in what we say and do and particularly when we provide "spiritual food at the proper time". Well, in the bible, to be inspired by God is to be bourne along by holy spirit to say and write what God wants to be said and written. Is that not what you are claiming? There is no half truths here. Jehovah or God will NOT inspire you or guide you to say half truths, part truths or make statements that are later reversed or discarded and cast off as falsehoods only to be replaced by "new light" which may or may not remain as "truth". No, such antics are more that of human leaders manipulating their followers and making sure that they have a system in place where the followers cannot question their proclamations.
For GB voting, if god is directing them why wouldn’t it always be unanimous.
God makes it so 7 think one thing and 4 think another thing? That makes no sense. How hare they directed by god if not unanimous?
The great tribulation talk is a change, because it enables people sitting on the fence to suddenly convert when they see the churches disappear (not that I believe this, seems a ridiculous teaching to me)

Well, so what did I learn from the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Watchtower Society? The people who died in the global Flood in the Noah's Ark story and the residents killed in the Sodom and Gomorrah tale might be brought back from the dead after Armageddon-- possibly. Interestingly enough, the Society flip-flopped for decades about whether the people of Sodom would be resurrected or not. The previous interpretation was that no they would not. I have no reason to believe that these events are anything other than mythical or legendary (Sodom and Gomorrah could have been real places and could have been destroyed by some natural catastrophe that some people later thought of as having been brought about as some kind of divine punishment, I suppose).
But then again, everyone had to die in these two catastrophes except for the single family in each story that Yahweh chose to save. Among those who perished -- surely that would have included babies, very young children and pregnant women who were soon to give birth to children who were viable and able to live outside their mothers' wombs. What did the children do in these stories that was so evil? Because the adults did stuff that God deemed wrong, and therefore, the children were guilty by association because they happened to be related to allegedly bad people? Generational punishment? I find that to be rather unfair. So, if you can try to justify that idea as a JW when it comes to the tragedies that take place in the Noah's Ark and the Sodom and Gomorrah stories, then if one of your ancestors did something wrong, shouldn't you also be punished? I mean, you came from the same family as this alleged wrongdoer, so surely you must be equally as corrupt and are cursed to repeat the same mistakes and errors of your ancestors.
I mean, what could possibly ever go wrong with the concept of generational and collective punishment, right?
The thing about Sodom, is that even if 10 people are resurrected from that mess, then J broke his promise to not destroy it all. Catch-22 on that one.
You should look into Michael Heiser's theology work on the flood and the reasons behind it. It will rock your world! On RUclips he has lots of lectures and talks, probably check out anything related to 'The Unseen Realm' first. It makes you look at every decision God made entirely differently. It's a fun rabbit hole to go down.

Research teams? Research packages? Sounds like a product development team. Something new to help the WT membership issues. New recruits and retention.
Perhaps big J is training up a few angels to run the internet/satellite infrastructure and build laptops etc after Armageddon.
I reckon the Amish people would be better prepared to survive.

Given the Society is saying that people may survive Armageddon by (re-)joining during the Great Tribulation, the question arises as to how long the window of salvation will remain open before the message of doom is preached - presumably with the first attacks on the Witnesses. Not to be complacent, but at present there is no indication of the act which will kick-off the GT, the UN attack on the world empire of false religion.
Imagine risking your life hiding watchtower literature from authorities under a government regime while spending 1500 a year preaching in secret for decades of your life to only watch a GB member mock the teachings you spent your life protecting and preaching.

Anyone else think the talk about GB needing unanimous was def hinting that maybe that's why Tony Morris was pushed out....I am thinking he wasn't passing New Light and wanted to remain status quo.
Also find it odd they are really talking about R&F doubts about past light. Where Splaine talks about wait we don't have the answers? I think there could be a few ppl waking up as you can clearly - if you listen - see they are making it up as they go along and it's a human org. In past publications we said this....but do we know that for sure? So you're just saying stuff not based on the Bible? Why should anyone listen?
