fun fact: the bass line I did on 'Herbsight' was kinda (INADVERTENTLY!) inspired by Bow-Wow Wow's 'I Want Candy' 🤷♂ (I realized this in the middle of the night one night after we wrote it lol)
Necrotic Nick- Hey! Thank you for the killer music! This new album is amazing. Dude, I may have to go back and jam that song with a fresh insight now lol. I'm a child of the 80's so I'm super familiar with that song (and the goofy music video lol). Sorry it took so long to get back you but I hope we pointed a lot of people in this album's direction with this review. Take care, man!
Necrotic Nick- I love every album I've heard from them. Mandala of Fear was a year ender for me as well and I might dig this one even more. I'm hoping we put a lot of eyes on this one.
This just made the list. You had me at U.S. folk. I love bands that can be described as "an amalgamation". Vocal dynamics is a lost art form in metal it seems. Just listened to the first two songs. I"m not familiar with this band at all so thanks for the find guys. There's a dark beauty and dark atmospheric nature to the album like Damage Done. Or other stuff from DT at the time. It makes you think you're in a movie. This is meant to be listened to in a patient manner. The first song cranks. This is straight up album metal. I love it. This one will be on the short list at the end of the year, much like Mutants from last year. I haven't heard anything like this before. Just listened to it all the way through undisturbed, holy shit guys. This music has so many layers to it. This is like pink floyd metal. If there's a band that I like that I try to draw to, they have some Agalloch in them to me. Maybe its me but when Agalloch was at their peak, I got vibes like this from them too. Phenominal album guys.
Necrotic Nick- A little bit. I honestly didn't care that Mikael stopped growling as much as I missed the heavier guitars and this brings a ton of hefty riffs.
I’d never heard this band before, but this album was a great accompaniment for a long jog in disgustingly humid weather. Also, between this and Panopticon and Wayfarer, it really seems like the fusion of experimental metal and traditional/Appalachian American music is having a moment.
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, summer's about to launch a full on assault of 90 + degree days here. Not looking forward to it lol. I do like this trend of embracing US folk elements into heavy music though. I like that when those elements are used well you can really picture a setting in your head.
Totally. Rime of Memory was my 2023 pick for AOTY, but it’s so hard to recommend to people: “Yeah, so it’s like atmospheric black metal but also has coal miner protest song stuff happening? Sort of?…look, just trust me.”
There’s honestly just too much good stuff coming out to check out. Definitely checking this one out after this review though! Also need to engulf myself in the new Ulcerate before your review (I’d imagine) since I hear it’s on RUclips
Necrotic Nick- Yeah, there's been a lot killer stuff dropping here lately but I'm totally cool with it until it comes time to do year end lists lol. The Ulcerate review is up if you haven't checked it out yet too.
Never heard of them, but can’t wait to jam this. Sounds beyond awesome. Totally off topic, but speaking of rankings… How about a Hate Eternal ranking? I’ve just started to listen them, gonna work my way through the discovery. First album was pretty killer!
Hadn't heard this band but checked it out after a big rating from Angry Metal Guy. Album is amazing. Love the gothic country elements they blend into it.
Necrotic Nick- Easily one of my favorites of the year for sure. What did Angry Metal Guy give it? Generally that site seems to slam bands here lately lol.
@@thrallsofmetal They gave them a 4.5 out of 5. I haven't noticed them slamming stuff that you guys like. You, Angry Metal Guy and Blaine from Banger are my main sources for finding new metal releases to check out.
I liked this album. I need a few more listens. Some points of it I wished for the female vocals to be about -4db in the mix. Seems too up front at times. That’s just my observation, but I do appreciate all the harmonies.
Necrotic Nick- She does seem to occupy one particular space vocally but I think she does an excellent job. I think she's also featured way more on this one that on their previous releases too.
Guys, so after 12 hours of non stop listening I have to say, it's the perfect RDR2 grind ablum lmao. The Herbsight...the riff at 3:14...serious Opeth vibes. This album is crafted, not written. One of the most re-listenable metal albums, from beginning to end, I've heard in a long time. So deep and layered. This band composes music that is greater than the sum of their parts, this is a lost art form. And you guys are right to be stingy with the 5's. 5's IMO should never be given at release, they're earned over the years. 5's stand the test of time.
Necrotic Nick- You know what: in my opinion this level of excellence is across all their albums in my opinion. If you dig this then I strongly recommend checking out both of their earlier releases. This band's songwriting skills and their ability to blend styles is incredible and it's always an immersive listen with this band. Yeah, this one and a few others have been close to that illusive 5 but I think this one is growing into a 5.
thank you! 🖤💛

Huntsmen never miss.
I've had this on constant repeat all weekend..outstanding 🔥🔥
Also a criminally overlooked band .
Necrotic Nick- I love every album I've heard from them. Mandala of Fear was a year ender for me as well and I might dig this one even more. I'm hoping we put a lot of eyes on this one.
Huntsmen are awesome! I haven't gotten around to listening to this yet and according to your review, I need to change that immediately!
Necrotic Nick- If you already love this band then you're about to love them even more. This albums is simply amazing.
Not too much sludge making waves these days. So good for these dudes and their successful hunt.
And one woman…
Necrotic Nick- This band needs more ears on them. Everything they've released has been sick as hell.
I just noticed something, congratulations on getting on the 18 thousand subscriber mark. 🥳🎉🎂🎊
Necrotic Nick- Hey! Thanks, man! It still blows my mind we've made it this far.
Holy shit this albums awesome. Why haven’t I heard of them before this is awesome! Great shout guys 🤘
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Make sure to check out their other albums. They all rule.

Necrotic Nick- Probably should have answered this comment first, huh? lol.
I can't believe I was sleeping on this band. Great review! Thank you!
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! I'm glad you dig it! Their other albums are killer too by the way.
The more I listen to it the more I realise it really helps fill that Opeth shaped hole left by the last 3 albums
Necrotic Nick- A little bit. I honestly didn't care that Mikael stopped growling as much as I missed the heavier guitars and this brings a ton of hefty riffs.
Man…was thinking Nick was gonna give this 5 stars! Soooo close to that rare perfect score 😩
Necrotic Nick- With every listen it inches closer to a 5 honestly. This album is flat out amazing.
They remind me a bit of the band Spotlights too. Very strong album!
Necrotic Nick- Not familiar with that band but if they sound like this then I'm game for sure.

Never heard tell of these gents.
Necrotic Nick- It's hard to describe as it's a blend of a lot of stuff but I'll say that it's damn good.
Never heard of them, but can’t wait to jam this. Sounds beyond awesome.
Totally off topic, but speaking of rankings… How about a Hate Eternal ranking? I’ve just started to listen them, gonna work my way through the discovery. First album was pretty killer!
Necrotic Nick- One of the best listens I've had this year honestly. I'd love to rank Hate Eternal in the future for sure. I've been a fan for years.
Never herd of this band but it sounds killer ill give it a spin at work tomorrow for sure
Necrotic Nick- I hope you dig it as much as we did.

Not familiar with this band, i will definitely have to check them out.
Necrotic Nick- I think if you like Mastodon and Baroness some of this might sound a bit familiar.
@thrallsofmetal huge fan of both bands for sure.
Do you think you will review the new Blood Feast?
Necrotic Nick- It depends on what all comes out that week honestly.
Prepare for new Ulcerate
Totally agree. 5 for me.
Necrotic Nick- The review is up if you haven't seen it yet.
😂 your title says BUTT DrY 😂
Necrotic Nick- LOL
How dare you compare any other band to TOOL. TOOL IS TOOL
Necrotic Nick- lol
