I just cried when Darryl said there's potentially a reboot of the Noah's Arc coming back. If I can cry just from the IDEA of the show returning, I will literally be balling if it actually comes back. This show means so much to me as a black gay man. I've rewatched it a million times and I never get tired of it. Never.

Excellent Interview with Darryl Stephens. I actually had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful man when he came to Detroit back in the early 2000's and he was shocked that I recognized him prior to Noah's Arc blowing up. He had a shine unlike many others. So glad you interviewed him Sampson. Congrats to him and continued success to both of you. Sending Love By way of Metro Detroit. And Yes....Lets get another round of this Pivotal show that brought our voices to the masses and yes they were/are trailblazers indeed. Much Love man!
I was a huge fan of Noah's Ark, it was a great representation of a mini aspect of the gay culture! For the first time for me, it was more than a conversation... I actually saw on the small screen relationships between some gay men, not all, but some (which opened me up to learn more) and it was appreciated. I have gay family and friends, that I love, so I was happy for the world to see friendships and loving relationships in the gay community. Thank you Darryl Stephens, and definitely thank you Sampson McCormick for this platform.

He is a legendary icon!! He is still on my bucket list of people I want to meet! I love him! His character was ground breaking in Noah's Arc! The show alone was iconic! We need this show back. I love the Chronicles.. that was cute but I need my series back!!
In regards to Darryl not feeling "safe" around straight Black Men, I understand. And my mentor @TheAstrologyLady explained to me why. And it has a lot to do with our "energy" and our spiritual makeup we were born with. The best way I can explain it as, "we as Black people have these certain 'rules or codes' we expect each other to follow. And if one of us doesn't then we automatically get shunned, disrespected, rejected or harmed for not following along with those certain 'norms' that we are expected to adhere to as a people." We already know as "Black Men" we're "supposed to" exhibit an persona of masculinity and toughness. Anything else is perceived as "weak" or "inferior!" And so, when those of us who are more "OPEN" and "FREE" with ourselves, we automatically are breaking the "code" and therefore being put at odds with "our brothers" who want us to hide and assimilate, just like them.

I've always thought that. I love his speaking voice. It's so different from the voice he uses as Noah in the show. But I loved Noah's voice too.
Before there was POSE, there was Noah’s Arc. Although strangely short-lived, (wink wink) it was OUR “Queer as Folk.”
Excellent interview Sampson! Darryl Stephens has to be one of the most articulate, down to earth brotha’s we have been blessed to behold. Noah’s Arc was one of the most Iconic television shows of our times. It gave a very wide range of same gender lovin men in which many of us saw and identified with. Darryl Stephens Christian Vincent, Rodney Chester, Doug Spearman, Jensen Atwood, Jonathan Julian, Jennia Fredrique and Wilson Cruz, created in a short time, a series that will be seen and admired for generations, yes generations, to come.
(I give honorable mention to “DL Chronicles” as another well written, well acted series gone way too soon.)

I totally understand what he was saying about not feeling safe around straight black men. I have felt that way for years and sometimes I still do. It is definitely some trauma that I’m in the process of healing.

I was introduced to the handsome and talented Darryl Stephens in 'Boy Culture'. Then I saw him in 'From Zero to I Love You' among other films, all of which are part of my prized DVD collection. Besides going to see LGBTQ+ movies, as well as any independent film, in the theatre or other platform, we need to support the community by purchasing and collecting such works of art.
Fantastic interview with the amazing and underrated actor Darryl Stephens. I'm so happy he sat down with you for this full interview. He's a genuine wonderful man, fingers crossed for the Noah's Arc reboot and more. damm this was such a great interview. as a Black woman i appreciated hearing confirmation that we're some of his biggest cheerleaders.
knowing us, i've come to assume//expect that to be the truth. nobody can hype you up + love you down like a Black woman.
AND i've also come to know that we are the main ones who uphold the BS of toxic masculinity when it comes to Black men - very strict expectations about what a BM "should" be. SMH
i'd say even moreso than cishet men b|c it starts w| Black mothers trying to protect their sons + continues w| cishet BW having very narrow, rigid expectations of their cishet BM partners.

I absolutely love Noah’s Arc.I watch it every chance I get over and over. I am a black heterosexual woman and I love what that show brought to viewers. It showed deep friendship, camaraderie, black love regardless of gender or sexual preference. Everyone played their part with excellence. I loved all the characters. Please please please I hope that whoever the powers are that be will allow all of you guys to come back and give us more of Noah’s Arc❤️

Being around straight black men is intimidating. I understand what Darryl is saying. You don’t want to make them uncomfortable but so many things can make them uncomfortable so, you start to feel uncomfortable. It’s because of the toxic masculinity that has plagued our community for generations.
