The Astrobot story sounds like it’s from and repeated by the same PSVR haters there have always been. Most of Sony’s family oriented games released flat haven’t sold that well in retail (Ratchet, Knack 2, Medieval, Bugsnax etc.). It’s inconceivable to me that the only actual retail success Astrobot has had in its long history (back to PS3 Eye Toy) was on PSVR, but Sony would just ignore all of that and go the Knack route again by releasing Astrobot flat only. To me it’s either PSVR2 only or it’s a hybrid. Anything else doesn’t make business sense and the stories are just being put out to satisfy the bitter Vita owners and other PSVR haters while also getting a rise out of PSVR players.
You know I’m really disappointed that Sony hasn’t not kept its “hybrid” promise with the psvr 2. Many of us can agree that the re7 VR mode was the most immersive experience because although we didn’t have motion controllers, the aim mechanic didn’t interfere with immersion. More games need that. Really wanted next gen games to be hybrid like for example; Deathloop Ghost wire Tokyo Call of duty Battlefield Hell even gta 5. I’d really like to know why these can’t be done.
@@nyfinest487 Definitely want more RE7 like ports…it’s well past time to ease the transition for devs. Still I ultimately think Sony’s diversion to “All IN on GAAS” sucked the air out of so much of other new developments that it was hard to also force VR dev in there, but the majority of first party developments haven’t been revealed it would be nice if there’s been more VR in development all along than what we thought. We’ll have to see though.

The rumour was leaked by Wario64 who is known to be a solid source for information. Has he got everything right? nope but have a look at what he has and he's almost pretty much on the button that is why larger sites and creators are running with the story. He is not a PSVR2 hater as you suggest. And how do you know Astro Bot was a commercial success for Sony on PSVR1? It's a great game (one of my favourite games of all time) but i have never seen anything stating it sold very well and turned a profit from years of VR development by team Adobi.
At the very least, I want the new Astro Bot to be a hybrid where it works for flat screen AND for VR. I would prefer VR only (PS VR 2 seriously needs more exclusives and more high budget games in general since a very significant portion of the library are low budget games with graphics that don't take advantage of the hardware), but I can understand them wanting to get Astro the widest audience possible. With that said, it should be a hybrid title (I'll be playing it in VR only).
Think there is lots better games coming out other than astro bot to be honest, I’m not quite sure why people have to be so hung up on it. If it is flat it is still going to be good and psvr2 lives on for another day .

Instead relying on 3rd party, subpar games such as Stride Fates or whatever other Job Simulator like game is out there. Sony has the means and resources to release their own AAA games on PSVR2 to sell more headsets but they are not doing that. It seems that they hope that players rely on GT7 and Resident Evil 4 and 8 for the entire PSVR2 lifecycle.
You saying astrobot 2 not being in vr means sony is giving up on psvr2 is my exact thoughts. There would be no better game to be in vr. So far psvr2 is going in the direction of the vita
