The Little Giant shines big in this piece.
I’ve always loved his sound & style of play!!!!
Always a standout from a period of great Tenor Sax players!!!!

I'll bet the Budapest Jazz Orchestra enjoyed playing with the late great Johnny Griffin. Nice to have this preserved on video.

With just his intro, he had outplayed everything I've ever played in my life. I'll get there, though... Masterclass, here I come. Y'all never forget my words, and wish me luck on my way to the greats. Y'all be blessed, and see y'all again when I finally get there. Stay safe.

I adore the band's accompaniment -especially during Johnny's smooth and constructive improvisation.
While the Orchestra sings so mellifluously as does a Nightingale, Johnny exudes that big, round, traditionalist tenor saxophone sound-voice a la Ben Webster and a la Don Byas.

Warning: Do not read the comments of the know-it-alls before or while listening: it will spoil it all.

Seems like he was surprised by this modulation since he messed up the bridge , but he sounds damn good

Not terribly impressed by the band but is always good to hear great Griffin. He is clearly showing his Johnny Hodges- Ben Webster roots while always remaining Johnny Griffin.
