I think the BK9 is the sweet spot for a hard use outdoor knife, the weight, balance, size, design and function really compliment each other. The BK9 is a must for me and a close second is the Esee Junglas. Thank you Ethan for a great knife with a soul, no telling how many folks put on an uncontrollable grin the first time they picked one up.

Star Gazer1212 Do you have proof of that? Like some kind of visual side by side comparison? I’m not trying to be a smart ass, just genuinely curious about ESEE knives since I don’t have any yet. Also to my knowledge, ESEE and KA-BAR both use 1095 carbon, but KA-BAR uses 1095CV (CRO-VAN)in their knives. Do you think that might be why ESEE has “better” edge retention/heat treatment? Maybe it’s a trade off to make the KA-BAR knives a little more stainless.

Star Gazer1212 I don’t doubt that they HT for toughness, but to be fair you can find broken ESEE knives on google images too(I just checked lol). Or probably any knife for that matter. I guess I’ll just have to buy an ESEE knife at some point and put it up against one of my Becker knives. None of mine have broke yet, but any knife can break when abused too much.

I would be interested to know why Becker likes to use the 1095 steel so much.

Ethan Becker bring back the BK5, 20, 29. Had these knives still be available, people wouldn't flock to other bowie knife knife makers.
