    Excellent video, thanks! I was able to replace the assembly on my 2013 ST without removing any parts of the dash, airbag, etc. It was a tight fit, but it eventually worked out!

    Great video, however, other than disconnecting the airbag You don't have to remove it. Mind you with a 3-in ratchet and extension, You can get the 13s off that go into the firewall to secure the clutch pedal assembly. But I think maybe the book asks to take the air bag out. So you have a clear shot at the 7:00 nut. But it's not necessary. It's actually a waste of time.

    Very helpful video. Be careful of the connector going into the airbag, I broke it when the airbag came out.

    Man, this was excellent! Great to see up in and behind stuff with your camera angles and lighting.
    I, too, sheared off my coolant overflow line....Those damn things are so delicate and the plastic is so brittle after 10 years of hot engine bay aging....

    I guess the 2018 Focus ST is different. I just had to replace my clutch master and I was able to get the pedal out without removing any parts of the dash, or the steering shaft. It was not fun lol, but I was able to do it.

    If y'all have a 2013 Focus, there will be a very small elongated "o-ring" at the end of the steel line. You will need to pull it our of your old clutch pedal assembly. If you do not you'll end up with brake fluid in your engine bay, ask me how I know.

    not sure if you're still around to see this but... how did you get to the airbag bolt to the right. The left one was fairly straightforward albeit a pain in the ass, but there seems to be a piece of metal directly in the way of the blind one. Any advice?

      Remove the brake switch and push the clutch pedal in after its drained. You have to look up through a small slit and you can see the nut. I used swivel sockets and an electric ratchet. You also have to crawl into the foot well and put your head about where the clutch pedal is at. Going back in you use some paper towel to hold the but in the socket. Spin on a few threads with the extension then use the electric ratchet. I hope that helps.

      @@cappuccino27 You need to check the clutch switches or the pressure sensor on the master. The pressure sensor didn't come out until 2016 I believe.

    Is the part number for the updated one with the metal plunger a different part number than the oem one with a plastic one? I’m trying to find one for my 17 ST, but I’ve seen both variations from different sellers and they share the same part number

    Sooooo great video, up until the pedal removal. Not sure how you managed it, but you CANNOT turn the master cylinder towards the brake pedal. And trying to reinstall, that switch pops off every. Single. God. Damn. Time. The entire disassembly took less time than I've spent trying to reinstall the pedal

  • @MuLTixsHo7

    My focus has a very hard pedal and it feels like the clutch comes out very slowly, could that be the cause?

    • @fixins9868
      @fixins9868  2 года назад

      Without feeling it with my own foot it would be hard to diag. But Its unlikely the master cylinder. You probable have a collapsed/stuck clutch delay valve. The CDV lives in the clutch fluid line and its job is to slow down the engagement of the clutch pressure plate after you release the clutch. Other possibilities are the slave cylinder binding. Also, check to make sure the bleeder valve for the clutch line isn't leaking. That bleeder is plastic and sealed by o rings which can rip and they won't leak just sitting there, but they will when you press the clutch which then causes the pedal to not come all the way up. Unless you have been bleeding the clutch, start with your clutch fluid line.

    so my pedal has been sticking to the floor and then slowly releasing, air is getting in the lines it also slightly effects my brake pedal. i bled the clutch and it fixed it temporarily but I definitely have a leak. I’m assuming this is the slave cylinder but is that the proper diagnosis/assumption? also it’s a 2015 focus titanium 5 speed but similar build

    • @fixins9868
      @fixins9868  2 года назад +1

      The clutch pedal should not affect your brake pedal in any way. The worst a leaking clutch would do to your brake system is warn you of low brake fluid, but that would only be a serious problem if you ignore it. If your clutch is leaking externally then there should be brake fluid somewhere, either on the floor inside your car, or coming from the bellhousing. If the master is leaking internally the only way to test that is to deadhead it and see if it hold pressure.
