kid’s media used to have to so much for attention to detail. you can tell the creators really enjoyed what they did and that they cared about children and giving them genuinely entertaining media to watch.
The slob was extremely scary and weird to me even when I was young, it feels like watching a guy go through a depressive episode in season one and a manic episode in later seasons. It’s like the host is just filming a mentally ill man and it’s very uncomfortable
I was never afraid of the slob (weird as there were puppets that still terrify me to this day). Though, it did scare me when the slob was in a bad mood and shouting at the camera to get out of his house. He was always so reserved and to see him loud/mean was pretty off-putting.
crashbox was my favorite show as a kid and my parents had this bit where they would claim that the revolting slob was my boyfriend. like pointing at the tv every time he was on and going "woah ur boyfriend is here!". i despised this.
Everyone talks about waking up in the middle of the night to the George Lopez jumpscare but nobody talks about waking up too early to Crashbox on the screen and not knowing what the heck is going on. It's real. It's terrifying. I think that's why this show felt so scary and liminal to me as a kid
If anyone cares, I'll give you guys the rest of the games. Think Tank was hosted by Capt'n Bob, a Jamaican stereotype who somehow got stuck in his fishtank and showed the viewer three objects that have one thing in common. Like camera, basketball player, and stars (all of them 'shoot'). His name is (most likely) a reference to Bob Marley. Sketch Pad was hosted by a hipster, well, sketch artist conveniently named Sketch. He would draw the viewer a story, but leave out one page, and have the viewer guess what page was missing and make the story make sense. Word Shake was hosted by an odd hybrid of French and Italian stereotypes (but apparently was canonically American-French in origin) who was known as Chef Pierre. He presents the viewer with two to four letter words, and mixed them together to create a new word (like Purr and Pull = Purple). Ten 2nds gives the viewers ten seconds each to solve four to five rebus puzzles (a puzzle consisting of an image doing a common phrase, such as a waterfall showing the word 'water' slowly descending down the screen). Riddle Snake consists of an unseen raj reading riddles from the titular Riddlesnake. The Riddlesnake charms a man who blows a kazoo to reveal the answer.
Iirc, Sketch and Capt'n Bob were both voiced by Greg Eagles (who was also the voice of Grim in "Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy", as well as the modern voice of Aku Aku in Crash Bandicoot).
I am so glad I'm not the only person who remembers Crashbox. When this and Happily Ever After: Fairytales for Every Child always a treat to watch on HBOs family programming.
The only thing I hate about the internet is the fact that I can’t find any Crashbox merch. At least I can watch this video & be happy that at least someone knows about this show.
I used to wake up every morning at 7am just to make sure I was able to catch crashbox from 10-11am this was my absolute favorite show and every time I talk about it, nobody knows what I’m talking about 😭😭😭
LITERALLY, I didn't watch most of the children's programming from the early 2000s, but the ONE show I did was crashbox and nobody ever has heard of it.
i was thinking the same thing. i didnt know dora was from an actual tv show, i thought they originated from the daily capper 😣 now i feel bad for assuming that..
I remember watching Crashbox on demand and on Max (when it was HBO Max). Definitely remember loving those valley girl Barbie twins and having a crush on the sketchpad character.
The Revolting Slob freaked my brother out, but surprisingly, it didn't freak me out. My favorite games were "Distraction News," "Sketch Pad," "Think Think Tank," and "Mug Shots." I'm grateful folks are remembering this show.
My little brother absolutely loved this show, especially the Revolting Slob! It helped him grow his vocabulary as he became more vocal, plus it was just hilarious! I loved Distraction News and Captain Bones! CrashBox deserves so much credit for the silly way it was able to educate kids!
I would have either been horrified or infatuated with this show as a kid 💀There’s something so nostalgic and whimsical about it in a grungy way, I definitely wouldn't have seen it as a kid bc I doubt it was aired in Australia but it still speaks to me :)
I was just thinking, I used to be unsettled by this kind of claymation/puppetry style but now that I’m older have a deep appreciation for them. I also love coraline and the fantastic Mr fox, theres something so lovely yet a bit uncanny about them ❤

It's such a fun show and genuinely helped me and my siblings bond! Captain Bones and I will always have beef and TRUST I was so scared of Revolting Slob! I think the concept of Eddie Bull absolutely terrified me too. Like, a guy getting eaten by enthusiastic animals who sing a freaky song?? That's SO SCARY! Looking back, I love it though! Love this video so much!
I feel like its really odd how he didn't quit the job. Every single animal just wants to eat him whole, and they never even let him finish speaking. Maybe every single animal is just desperate to have him as a treat.
I really want to see if there is lost media/projects of Crashbox. More specifically, I wonder if someone that worked for the show kept the puppets and claymation figures that were used on the set. It would be amazing to see where they are now.
Crashbox will forever be my favorite learning show. I loved it when I was little and I loved it when I randomly rewatched it a few years ago. I'll never be able to hear the HBO intro without thinking about this show lol
I've always felt that a Jackbox-esque party game based on Crashbox would work so well ever since I found out about Jackbox and I know it would never happen but it feels so incredibly fun to just think of it
I’m sad you didn’t cover Captain Bob and his Sub and the stuff you found overstimulating was my favorite stuff maybe that’s my A.D.D. overriding my Autism but I loved this show it was my comfort show and I think it hit all the right spots for me as a kid growing up on it back in 99’ they replayed both seasons back to back every year so I always got to come back to it and enjoy it. A lot of the segments you said were easily forgotten were highlights for me as they covered so many diverse styles, aesthetics and character design choices. I loved how everything had a different speed to it from face paced to slow and steady. Easily the most goated educational art piece from my youth!
I AM SO HAPPY THAT YOU ARE DISCUSSING THIS!!! You are one of my top RUclipsrs and I grew up watching this show on like.. HBO Family along with A Little Curious!
I freaking LOVED crashbox as a kid. Even when I felt like I was outgrowing little kids shows, I always watched crashbox when I caught it on. I’d sort of forgotten, I can’t wait to show my kids now 😂
I was randomly looking at my recommended tab and almost had a heart attack once I saw the thumbnail! this show was my early childhood & I can’t ever forget about the Revolting Slob, lol.
This show made me extremely weird and different from the other kids but I’m kind of grateful it’s a very captivating show it doesn’t feel like you’re basic Backyardigans it’s not just educational but it’s a piece of wonder
i have memories of watching crashbox from HBO on demand from our cable hahaaha, used to binge it while drawing, revolting slob still one of my favorite bits to this day!
Crashbox was one of my FAVORITE shows as a kid, I feel like not a lot of people remember it now so this video is so exciting!! My Dad would always watch it with me on HBO on demand, I love that it was interesting enough to catch the attention of older audiences. I really don’t think anything will be able to encapsulate the same chaotic energy and art style of Crashbox
As a kid, my family would go visit my grandparents in the mountains for Christmas and the winter. This was the only "kids" channel that was available on their TV and I loved it so much. It felt like one weird fever dream
I used to watch this show at my grandma's house and I was obsessed with the maintenance robots and all the little animations with them, but always ran out of the room whenever the Revolting Slob segment played lol
So I knew this was a kids show but because of how weird and sometimes scary it was I always thought I would get in trouble for watching it. When someone else in my family would come into the living room while I was watching it I'd always change the channel quickly. No clue why I acted like that but that's my main memory of the show.
Would love to see her talk about a little curious. Loved that show and how the different segments would change art styles showing different things. Its a shame its rarely ever talked about or called creepy
I loved crashbox, eddy bull was my favorite segment too!! But I don’t think I realized it was supposed to be educational, I just watched it for entertainment lmao but the math ones had me stressed too
I was OBSESSED with this cursed logic puzzle show as a kid! However, my parents didn't have HBO, so the only way I could watch it was on the TVs at hotels on vacation. It aired at 10am, and hotel checkout was typically at 11, so in order to watch it, I purposefully delayed my family's hotel checkouts for literal YEARS. Never packed bags in advance, took purposefully long bathroom breaks, ate an absurdly large breakfast, etc., all so I could solve and memorize Crashbox puzzles. That show will forever be responsible for my love of logic puzzles and my hatred of packing for vacation. :p
The absolute fever dream you just unlocked for me is insane. I just remembered seeing this creepy slob guy that sat on this chair and it legitimately freaked me out as a kid, and I had no idea where it was from and it stayed in my memory. So I’m glad ya made this vid lol cause I may have never found out.
Even as a 24 year old, seeing these clips fill me with SO much joy and nostalgia! Crashbox was truly one of a kind, and as an autistic kid who loved solving puzzles and flexing my smarts, I watched it all the time On Demand with my siblings!
You randomly showing up in my recommended helped me rediscover this small slice of my childhood I could barely remember enough to find; you don't know how much this means to me, thank you so very much.
4:08 had to pause right here because my little middle-aged Gen xer heart just got warmed from you mentioning Brain Games. I used to love the Brain Games segments on HBO when I was a kid! Haven't thought of them in years, literally a couple of decades to be honest.❤
When my mom got custody of my brother and I it was a major culture shift for us. We grew up with my grandma on food stamps and our 4 cousins watching whatever was on pbs. Moving in with our mom she had satellite tv and we got to watch everything we didn’t even know the channels went past 77. My step dad would watch movies at night on HBO and when we would turn on the tv in the afternoon after school it would still be on so we started watching Crashbox. My brother and I loved it, from the pirate guy, to the submarine that would sink into the drain, and the revolting slob which was our favorite because of the gross factor. The timed anxiety driven puzzles and quizzes actually helped both of us with school specifically the math segments. Good times.
Old lady millennial here, I used to love when we would get a free weekend of HBO on satellite when I was a kid because I LOVED Crashbox and Happily Ever After.
17:50 I do not blame you for thinking of Jackbox Games' Earwax in the Ear We Are segment of Crashbox. I mean both Jackbox Games as a whole and Crashbox sound similar, and have both very visually different game shows with incredibly unhinged hosts. It honestly would be impressive for someone who knew of either to NOT be reminded of the other.
This is my childhood, I recently ask my dad about a hbo show with claymation and he instantly knew what I was talking about. I LOVED this show I would sit and watch this for hours. But I rewatched it with my mom and we still love it. It gives this weird yet nostalgic feeling.
so cool to see a youtuber talk about crashbox, the only other person ive seen mention it is jerma which makes sense because he lives in the same void that crashbox does in my mind anyway it used to be an obscure childhood memory for me and then me and my sister binged it on streaming a few years ago. kind of surprised it hasn't gotten super popular by now on TikTok or smth since it reminds me so much of the vibe jack stauber has, things like that inspire me sm artistically i love it 2000's mixed media my beloved♥️✨
The distraction news reminds me of when I did academic UIL in school. One competition was called "Listening". There's no distractions, but you literally listen to a speaker do a 10-minute discussion and at the end you're quizzed on how much you remember of the details.
I watched 7 episodes after this video. After 7, my brain was like, "Bro, you're almost 25. Why are you even enjoying this? Your childhood didn't include this. Stop it, " lol. Great vid, though.
Loved this show was singing along to some of these games, watched it a lot as a kid when family was able to afford cable and HBO was a part of the package. None of my friends have seen this or "Happily ever after fairytale for every child", happy to see a light shines on this show.
lula your outfit and makeup really popped off for this episode, the hairstyle and colors and accessories too?? just YESS you look lovely, and i LOVE the star shaped septum ring
even though i was born in 2005 this was my childhood i thank crashbox for my quick thinking, my willingness to dig deeper through the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood, and my love for steampunk. My grandmother loved this show and i would get up every morning at 6am just to catch the one or two episodes that would air. Those are some of my favorite memories. (tldr im a nerd and i blame crashbox)
hi lulaloopsey! I am commenting to let you know that “sorry bout that!” has been my main vocal stim since I found your channel recently, and I love your intro! anyway ily and your content🫶🏻
I am so happy to see somebody cover this. This show was so much fun but also scared the everliving shit out of me. When I got older I became more and more into stop motion and claymation even though it gave me the heebie jeebies.
I’m so glad you’re covering crashbox!! Nobody else in my friend groups were hbo kids, so it’s super cool to see other ppl who remember it :). Love your vids
28:36 You just blew my mind… actually I’m still struggling to believe it because I can hear Verity’s voice in my head. It was very New Yorkah Meets Carmen Sandiego and I cannot picture that out of Billie’s mom, second, after your explanation of Paige and Sage, I’m starting to feel like this was just a Quantico for kids! 👀👀👀
39:41 The one I remember the most was when she was trying to hook him up on a date with someone. I think that one was the one that messed me up the most. Lol. Aww… I was hoping you’d do Riddlesnake. 🥹 Loved the animation, music, and the riddles as well. The ladies voice was also heavenly.
I'm so happy you talked about this show. I watched it religiously with my little brother for years. No one ever seems to know about it. So glad it's getting a moment here
Thank you for making this video! I've been searching for a video essay about crashbox for the longest time, I've oly ever found one other. Love your content
thank you for making this. One summer in like middle school we changed cable providers in my home and we got hbo and i remember watching this with my brothers every morning, such a highlight during dark times for us. One of the most unique shows. One character i always remember is captain bob and his funky song
LOVED Crashbox. It was such a trip but like in a good way. Jumpin' Johnny Jumble's Jingle is forever stuck in my head and will just pop up when I'm drawing a blank in the middle of a conversation.
I LOVED CRASHBOX GROWING UP. I love and still love weird and unique shows and movies so much and I still watch crashbox till this day! I wish kids shows was still like this❤
I remember my siblings and I would always try to guess which segment would be next during the fixing/reveal sections I'm so glad I'm not the only who was super uncomfortable during the Revolting Slob parts 😭 I remember gagging and wanting to leave during it
Haunted House Party, Radio Scramble , Dirty Pictures, Lens McCracken: Ace Photo Snoop, Captain Bob( voiced by Greg Eagles aka Grim from Billy and Mandy), Mugshots, Revolving Slob and finally Sketch Pad are my favorite segments from CrashBox.
Since we’re talking about hbo kids shows do yall remember A little curious, Happily Ever After: Fairy tales for every child, kindergarten, El perro & El gato, and Harold and the purple crayon😂😂. As a kid born in 2003 I used to watch these shows before school or before bed time lol.
THIS USED TO BE MY FAVORITE SHOW GROWING UP! I would watch it over and over and over and over! I still sometimes put it on the tv from the youtube playlist. I absolutely want to raise my future kids on this !
My older siblings were born in the nineties. When my siblings and I were born, we watched what they watched, as well as what my parents favored. Crashbox was one of them. My parents were born in the fine days of the early to late seventies. They watched eighties media (alien, strawberry shortcake, disney, etc.) So we got to watch Crashbox on HBO. My fave segment was Paige and Sage bcoz ofc
I loved this show! You said to make a comment discussion if you skipped a favorite. My three favorites were Think Tank, Riddlesnake, and Ten 2nds. USE YOUR EYES, USE YOUR BRAIN, BEFORE HIS CLUES GO DOWN THE DRAIN
Take you for this. I watched Crashbox so much years back and spent forever trying to remember the name of it. It definitely needs to be remember for all time.
I absolutely ADORED Crashbox when I was a child. It was so odd and charming. Going to family members houses who didn’t have the normal “kids channels” was so much less boring when it was on.
This was one of my favorite shows growing up, I’m glad you made this video because it brought into a wave of nostalgia and I’m definitely gonna binge watch Crashbox later lol
I absolutely loved this show when I was little I always tuned in to watch it with my grandma seeing people finally talk about crash box makes me so happy and mabye they will discuss other HBO shows like a little curious
Omg you honest have no idea how much this means to me. I knew I remembered this show very loosely and I truly didn’t know if I just dreamt this or if it was real. thank you for giving me a piece of my childhood memory back 😭🥺
Crashbox was one of my favorite shows growing up!! I was always obsessed with how eerie it all looked + it made me feel really clever for being able to deduce so many of the games answers. I love introducing my friends to it now (even though we’re all around 25-30) since the style is SO unique and the games are genuinely fun 💓
We will NEVER have another show like Crashbox. It's so incredibly unique
We might
Never say never 🤷🏻♂️

@@NewSonyWonderHappyMadisonFan Bluey is no longer a standard, it’s an exception. I think it’s great, but there’s not many others like it.

I was incredibly grossed out and akward everytime he appeared.
I literally had nightmares about him eating Styrofoam shaped like cheetos and exploding. It still gives me a gross feeling thinking about it.

I remember waking up in a hotel room as a kid to this playing on the TV. It was one of those shows that I thought I dreamed.
I actually clicked on this video because of this. I woke up to it in my grandma's house
If anyone cares, I'll give you guys the rest of the games.

This show used to scare me when I was little and I usually change the channel or wait for a little curious.
I've been anticipating this video for so long!! I loved crashbox and I'm so happy to see someone posting and talking about it
Even as a 24 year old, seeing these clips fill me with SO much joy and nostalgia!
This show was so fun, I loved playing along with it
When my mom got custody of my brother and I it was a major culture shift for us.
Crashbox is one of those shows I know for a fact I watched as a kid, but I don't remember a single thing from it.
crashbox? immediate watch. i still watch this with my roommate’s kids every weekend lol~
I very rarely had HBO as a child but whenever I did I would seek out this show as much as I could. The eddie bull song still gets stuck in my head.
This is my childhood, I recently ask my dad about a hbo show with claymation and he instantly knew what I was talking about. I LOVED this show I would sit and watch this for hours. But I rewatched it with my mom and we still love it. It gives this weird yet nostalgic feeling.
so cool to see a youtuber talk about crashbox, the only other person ive seen mention it is jerma which makes sense because he lives in the same void that crashbox does in my mind
anyway it used to be an obscure childhood memory for me and then me and my sister binged it on streaming a few years ago. kind of surprised it hasn't gotten super popular by now on TikTok or smth since it reminds me so much of the vibe jack stauber has, things like that inspire me sm artistically i love it
2000's mixed media my beloved♥️✨
I was just talking about crashbox with my friend the other day, I lived that show as a kid and im glad to see people talking about it
hi lulaloopsey!
Yes! Yes! Yes! This is my day! I’ve been waiting for a nostalgia RUclipsr to cover my namesake forever!!
I’m so glad you’re covering crashbox!! Nobody else in my friend groups were hbo kids, so it’s super cool to see other ppl who remember it :). Love your vids
I’m so thankful for the person who uploaded all the Crashbox episodes on here
6:38 well thank you now for implanting THE INCEPTION THOUGHT OF “MUST FIND REMAINING 8!” 😩
I gotta find someone I like… and then take them hostage and make them rewatch these with me… you know, the only ENFP way. 😌
10:46 … I got pneumonia when they were starting multiplication tables and was out for weeks. Still don’t know’em. And look how great I turned out. 🥹
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO!!! Crashbox was everything to me growing up! true art!!!
thank you for making this.
I wish kids shows was still like this❤
I remember my siblings and I would always try to guess which segment would be next during the fixing/reveal sections
I'm so glad I'm not the only who was super uncomfortable during the Revolting Slob parts 😭
I remember gagging and wanting to leave during it
scoop or poop reminds me of the true or false parties on animal jam, i used to eat those up but id also get PISSED when i guessed wrong
I’ve been wanting to make a video on this, so excited to watch!!!!
As a 28 year old, I will always love watching Crashbox. It's so great!!
I love this show so much but there isn’t many videos or information on it. I’m so happy a RUclipsr i enjoy is covering thisssss
Take you for this. I watched Crashbox so much years back and spent forever trying to remember the name of it.
It definitely needs to be remember for all time.
Thank you so much for showing up in my feed, ive been looking for this show for so long
I absolutely ADORED Crashbox when I was a child.
I still think of this show everyday so I was so excited to see this video come up
Loved watching this before school in the mid 2000s. The reggae submarine game was my favorite
Man you really hitting into shows and channel blocks from my childhood. It’s always good to relive the old memories, thanks 🙏.
You’re a super duper pooper scooper for reminding me of this show
I absolutely loved this show when I was little I always tuned in to watch it with my grandma seeing people finally talk about crash box makes me so happy and mabye they will discuss other HBO shows like a little curious
GAHHHH TYSM
You shld do the HBU Jam shows as a whole or like childrens morning programming wld be cool! I'm so excited for this one!
I remember crashbox and i liked it as a kid
It's a wild show
Also the News caster character looks like the one from the infamous daily capper thing
