Building drag cars is the number 1 thing I do in BeamNG but at this point it would probably be borderline impossible for me to do without mods😂I always use the wheels/tires and often a bunch of the other parts from Meo's Drag Pack as well as RK's Turbo Everything mod to get boost by gear. I also frequently use CJD parts like additional engine and transmission swaps. Props to you for getting all these cars that quick without any mods!
Thanks, I've made plenty use of the Turbo Everything and both MEO's mods as well and love them both too. With or without mods, I find its a fun challenge building the cars within certain restraints, like this series, full body, bumpers etc... Running without the mods in this sort of forces me to look at every detail a lot closer to find the last bits of performance when its not possible to just add more power or bump up the tire grip multiplier. Either way, it's a great fun, there's no wrong way to play this game 😁
@@shiftsandgiggles Nope. I had that config for probably at least a year. It’s a pretty damn good sleeper because most people don’t expect it to be that fast.
Very pleasant video. Felt a lot like watching a hobbyist with real cars discussing drag times at a real strip. I don't sub to new RUclipsrs often, but this video was just relaxing to watch. I think the choices of camera angles contribute heavily to the sense of realism.
I've found the 4 speed automatic drag transmission to the best choice for the cars that it's available for so far. I don't think I've really tried the 'standard' automatics in the cars that don't if there was a manual option.
@@shiftsandgigglesonly if the torque converter doesn't suck and it may be because i don't understand the difference between stall because they seem indifferent
@@collinkaufman2316 As far as the 'stock' converters go, you'll see most of the difference on the starting line on the transbrake. The low stall converters will keep the rpm from building as much. Which one I use depends on the car and what works with the particular tuneup. When it comes to the higher horsepower modded cars, an adjustable converter is where much of the performance adjustablity is using the torque multipliers.
you probobly already know this, but you can get the d-series to a 5 second mile with a rocket engine. which seems unrealistic, but there are drag semi trucks with jet engines, so it kinda works
I was aware of the Rocket Bus, haven't tried the D Series version yet. I've been lucky enough to see a a couple of the Jet Semi's IRL over the years, they're very cool. Apparently the trick to hitting speeds like they do is (besides the Jet engines) is shaving the DOT tires enough that the inertia doesn't rip them apart. The rockets are a different matter. @@shiftsandgiggles just a psa though, it’s mostly faster than the older sequential transmissions. New cars I’ve found are still faster. Still much faster than older cars though.
@@spoolysnail32 Thanks, I'll give that a go, I play on a wheel and pedals so using the clutch is easy enough when I need it. The sequential transmissions I'll just power shift, seems to work.
can you share the civetta scintilla config? I want to see how gar i can push it while keeping it at different varyiations of vanilla. Great video, Cheers!
Hi, thanks, I hope they're helpful. You can find the entire build and setup for the Scintilla in this video, ruclips.net/video/rRs74dZ1NVw/видео.html nothing's changed in the setup since then. I will be coming back to it soon. If I ever figure out a good way to post configs I'll consider that soon maybe as well.
Lol I would love to but a couple of the cars barely make it to the finish line before the engine is smoking as it is. I'm not sure the Moonhawk would survive a burnout and a run
hopefully soon we get to see the slower cars on the new list also the Moonhawk has an integrated front bumper fascia and a cover instead of the rear bumper (like the D-series you used) some factory configs use them so i think its legal
I plan to revisit all the cars one at a time with all the stuff I've learned over time so I will get some of the slower cars back out soon. I'm aware of the Moonhawk's fascia, since most of the other cars don't have that option, I elected to keep it with full bumpers. That's also why none of the cars are fitted with roll cages, since there isn't one for the chopped Burnside.
This is awesome! How much would a rollcage effect times? I assume at sub 8 seconds they would all need one IRL? Also; with the new Jato tailgate for the D Series how would a jet truck fair? Might be interesting
I would guess with the extra weight, the cage would cost about .10 - .15 or so off performance. IRL I think its anything 9.99 or quicker in the 1/4 that require them. I wasn't aware of the new DSeries tail gate option, I'll have to check that out. I did close out a couple older videos with a pass from the Rocket Bus, it run pretty comparable to a TF Dragster, mid 4's, way over 300 mph, 0 chance at stopping it lol ruclips.net/video/aGxps6j3zJY/видео.html
Those are all listed in a previous video here ruclips.net/video/rRs74dZ1NVw/видео.html. The next video I'm working on will feature an updated version and I'll release the config files from that for download if I figure it out.
Also what’s the deal with the bolide 15x10 rims on most drag cars, you can go for a much bigger setup or were you struggling either way doing uncontrolled wheelies?
I went with the lightest rims that worked with the least amount of tire I felt was needed. Any larger on most of the cars and they do wheelie too much. Some are on the brink of that as they are now still.
There is a series here on the channel that features modded versions of a lot of these cars. ruclips.net/video/F_JJqnTajvg/видео.html&pp=gAQBiAQB I'll be revisiting them again soon.
Short answer is I don't know. I assumed it was just a regular part, it seems to be in the inventory whether I have mods activated or not. Maybe its cab type specific or something.
Why didn't you use the DCT transmission in the sbr and the Scintilla? They can handle a lot of hp and with launch control you can have much better launches.
The Scintilla doesn't really need launch control on the prepped strip. Launch control essentially cuts power to maintain grip, even with dumping the clutch at full rpm, I had to fit smaller rear slicks to prevent it from doing giant wheelies so grip is not an issue. I am working through each of the cars doing some retuning though, so I will have a look at the other transmissions choices when I get back to the Scintilla.
You can find the setup for the Scintilla in the Fastest Drag Car European video from a few months back, I haven't changed anything with it yet since then.
I'm aware, it's heavier than the car I used for this so not as quick. I do have a new Piccolina video that I am working on, I will feature the stretch version in that.
When I'm able to figure out how to set something like that up, I will. In the meantime, each of the cars were featured in earlier video and I do show both the setups and the entire list of parts used in those.
@@MatthewHarmon-qt8sq it's simply called 'Torque curve' and to figure out the weight, 'weight distribution' you just gotta add the 4 corner weights to get a total.
Although the sunburst was the slowest, that thing sounded INSANE. The whine is definitely the loudest I've heard in BeamNG so far.
Yeah I like that car a lot.
I'd say that its transmission is a bit too short. Apps you could save at least half a second on shifts alone. Going up to fourth is more than enough
