      It was easy. They don't ask you anything. They just look at your passport.

    I was secretly hoping you'd get a peek of the business class seats because I will be flying Fiji Airways Business Class YVR-NAN later this year. I've seen some images that made Fiji Business Class look like Alaska First Class (aka no lie-flat) but as you were deboarding it looked like your flight had the pods and layflat seats.

      Their business class seats are lie flat.

      Fiji Airways A350 is serving YVR now, so business class will be very different from this A330.

    We're doing this exact same flight next week. Did you have a long layover in Fiji or did you stay there/was that your final destination?

    • @darrylwilsonjr
      @darrylwilsonjr  Год назад

      We stopped in Fiji for 5 days and continued onto Australia. Nadi Airport is not large. But there is a reasonable amount of shops and places to eat during a layover. If your layover is long, you could also pay for entry to the Fiji Airways lounge.

      @@darrylwilsonjr thank you for the tip! We have 15 hours in the area both ways and definitely want to set ourselves up in the lounge. Does the lounge have showers? And any recommendations for easy day activities that is do-able to do before getting back to the airport?
      Thank you for shooting this video! It eased some anxiety after a long time of not travelling internationally!

    • @darrylwilsonjr

      I don't know much about the lounge but just search for Tambua Club at Nadi Airport. 15 hours is a long layover and depending on the timing, you have quite a few options. I would suggest searching South Sea Cruising and doing either a full or half day excursion to South Sea Island. There are also lots of tour companies that will pick you up from the airport and take you for a tour of the city at your leisure. I recommend Epic Tours and Transfers. Alternatively, I have the name and number of a good taxi driver.

    Great trip report! We're flying YVR-NAN in October, but on their A350 (hoping for one of the two they're accepting this summer). My questions:
    - When you booked, did you get the advance seat selection? We're flying on their "lite" fare and didn't choose seats, but I expect they'll let us pick seats when we check in online before the flight.
    - How early before your flight did you check in? We're arriving from YYC on the same day and have a 10-hour layover in YVR. Hoping to pop out to eat some local grub before heading back.
    - Aside from the incredible view of the plane when you disembark, are there other places one can see the apron from the airport itself, either before or after security? We're staying just across the street from the airport for the first couple days, and I'd like to get in some planespotting while I'm jet lagged. :)
    Thanks!

    • @darrylwilsonjr
      @darrylwilsonjr  Год назад +2

      Yes, advance seat selection was included in our fare. However, it is my understanding this is no longer the case and you will need to wait until check in to avoid fees. We checked in 3 hours prior to the flight but YVR is not typically busy at that time and you could get away with less time. You definitely have time to go to the city and back. Plane spotting is limited after security. There aren't many windows with great views. I will be posting another video soon that shows inside the terminal. I'm not sure about plane spotting before security as I did not explore around the outside of the airport but I imagine you could find a good place.

      @@darrylwilsonjr Thanks for responding! I've been able to determine some good places for spotting around NAN from others who've been - they tend to be on the other side of the main runway. If I get out there I'll definitely be posting a video somewhere. :)
      We'll take our chances with seats when we get to online checkin, the advance seat fees are much steeper than in Canada (that's where they getcha, as they say). As for Vancouver, we'll definitely be heading into town then, I understand the sushi tends to be better the closer one gets to the ocean. Any local recommendations if you're into Japanese fare?
      Looking forward to your video of the NAN terminal! There are no good videos of the newer terminal online that I can find, so I'm sure yours will be hit!

    • @darrylwilsonjr
      @darrylwilsonjr  Год назад +2

      @impromark I am from Victoria and while I have been to Vancouver many times, I typically go for ramen over sushi. If you want to try ramen, my favourite is Marutama Ramen. But if you prefer sushi, I can ask a Japanese friend who definitely would know. I'll let you know when the Fiji Airport videos are online. I wish I knew there wasn't much online for the airport itself as I would have made greater effort to film it.

      @@darrylwilsonjr Noted! We're up for anything and my daughter loves ramen and udon especially, so Marutama looks a good recommendation. Thanks! Looking forward to your future videos.
      EDIT: Marutama apparently changed their name last fall, they're Maruhachi now. Still on the list!
