I'm with you on that--a great line in a heartbreaking situation. (I think you mean Dominic was "rejected," not "ejected" unless he was in a jet plane.) He says that after fumbling between positive and negative, "yeah, no, yeah...." as the expectation that he was bound to be turned down.

Yes, the entire cast was amazing, and I know the oscars have little credibility of late, but if Barry Keoghan does not win the best supporting oscar tomorrow I will never watch the oscars again. In any case I am sure Barry will have a long, successful career with many nominations and awards in the future as he is a huge talent and so young, just 30. I also hope Martin McDonaugh wins best original screenplay. I read that the reason the lines, dialogue move so rhythmically and smoothly in the movie is that Martin is mostly a playwriter and a play director as well so he has a great sense of rhythm and timing with words. This is easily the best film of the past five years.

If you follow the dialogue you will see that this is a very deep study of the pain caused by a suddenl breakup in a relationship. There is a subtle metaphor in the Civil War on the mainland. McDonagh does thought-provoking dark, dark comedy, with a theater of the absurd quality. I know friends who’ve watched it 3-4 x trying to peel back layers, each time understanding more of McDonagh’s message. We’ve watched it 6 times since late October and still chew over what the last scene reveals about the men. There’s a reason all 4 actors are up for awards. The screenplay is too. Maybe you should watch it again.
