I'm with you on that--a great line in a heartbreaking situation. (I think you mean Dominic was "rejected," not "ejected" unless he was in a jet plane.) He says that after fumbling between positive and negative, "yeah, no, yeah...." as the expectation that he was bound to be turned down.
Yeah, that's an excellent one as well. But I thought he actually said "four fingers is the epitome...". Maybe I got that wrong, though the point he's making remains the same--cutting off fingers would be a sure sign of someone with mental pathologies.
Some many line left out, the barman quote....If I cut off a piece of meself for every stupid thing I heard in here, well ... I'd only have me head left ... great movie and the cast were top notch
Mrs. McCormick: "A death shall come to Inisherin before the month is out", Pádraic: "A death, huh?", "Maybe even two deaths", "Well, that would be sad", "We shall pray to the Lord just neither you nor poor Siobhan will be either of them", "Well is that a nice thing to be said!", "I wasn't trying to be nice. [wicked little smile] I was trying to be accurate"
That's a fairly common one, when you're having a barney, and someone else interjects will a hugely fuckedy going nowhere, the "What are you 12", is a nice one to use cause it shuts the silliness of the argument up straight away.
Yes, the entire cast was amazing, and I know the oscars have little credibility of late, but if Barry Keoghan does not win the best supporting oscar tomorrow I will never watch the oscars again. In any case I am sure Barry will have a long, successful career with many nominations and awards in the future as he is a huge talent and so young, just 30. I also hope Martin McDonaugh wins best original screenplay. I read that the reason the lines, dialogue move so rhythmically and smoothly in the movie is that Martin is mostly a playwriter and a play director as well so he has a great sense of rhythm and timing with words. This is easily the best film of the past five years.
@@BooksCinemaReflections Yes and thank you for this video. I made some comments above as well. That scene with Barry Keoghan made me weep. Hugely talented cast, writer and director.
We just got the paperback of the screenplay. McDonagh is sheer genius. And it’s very interesting to see which scenes he deleted. The one with Dominic and Paeder is a killer. We also appreciate why all four actors got best acting awards. They made magic with McDonagh’s words.
The pair are brilliant in the dark comedy In Bruges. Must see. Then another killer ensemble in Seven Psychopaths. Three Billboards in Ebbing etc is brilliant with a brilliant cast. Just wish we could have gotten some of his award-winning plays over here or on film. Happy viewing!@@BooksCinemaReflections
In spite of the reviews that said this was a comedy, I thought it was so sad. Padraic's hurt and confusion was just too much for me. I spent half the movie crying.
Colm: Have you been having indecent thoughts about men? Priest: (suddenly angry) No I have not been having indecent thoughts about men. And how dare you ask that to a man of the cloth. Colm: Well you brought it up.
I love the Oscar bait in the scene in the pub. Padraic’s whole drunken epiphany. I am Padraic (sorry can’t spell it) Sullivan and I am nice. And you know what you are? Not nice. And the rest of the scene with levity thrown in. YET, he says, as if he’s English. 😆

I don't mean to jump on a bandwagon here, CW -- but I waited on the edge of my seat as I watched the list go by, excited to see which of Dominic's fabulous lines would be included. Alas!! I have subscribed -- thank you for bringing this to us!
Heartbreaking movie 😢. I fear it was Colm who needed to leave the island for medical help. He was severely depressed & would have never cut his fingers off just because Padrick kept after him. He loved the violin. Poor Padrick - he was a simple man and a nice man. He loved his dog & donkey & even colm’s dog. Great acting but movie made no sense.
If you follow the dialogue you will see that this is a very deep study of the pain caused by a suddenl breakup in a relationship. There is a subtle metaphor in the Civil War on the mainland. McDonagh does thought-provoking dark, dark comedy, with a theater of the absurd quality. I know friends who’ve watched it 3-4 x trying to peel back layers, each time understanding more of McDonagh’s message. We’ve watched it 6 times since late October and still chew over what the last scene reveals about the men. There’s a reason all 4 actors are up for awards. The screenplay is too. Maybe you should watch it again.
Another Best line That we missed, its here:

This film, despite how much of a tearjerker it was, was a breath of fresh air, what with the stuff usually churned out and consumed. Fantastic movie!
Totally Agree..
Favorite line: “Don’t be puttin’ thoughts in me head that weren’t there the first feckin place ye feckin nut bag”.
Love this Line😘😘😘
Kinda shocked to see it not in here.

My favourite line is from Dominic after he'd been rejected by Siobahn.
"Well, there goes that dream."
Heartbreaking stuff.
Indeed it was..
They shared it on their Facebook page (Photo) . But it's not included in this video.
As soon as I heard that my heart was crushed. You just really get the impression off of that one like that so many dreams of Dominic have been broken

This little video highlights for me the quality of the sound recording in this film. I noticed it in the cinema. Every word was crystal clear.
The priest swearing from the confessional was great.
Oh..... He was😇
That was hilarious 😅

One of the movies I have seen in a while. It touches on so many human conditions and emotions

This whole movie pulled at my heartstrings. Thanks for pulling together some of the many great lines from it.
My pleasure.
Number 7 explains so much. Perhaps the most revealing and representative quote of the film about what’s really going on.
The entirety of the drunk monologue is price of admission.
This one gave me a chuckle
"I don't give a feck about Mozart, or Borvoven, or any of them funny name feckers! I'm Pádraic Súilleabháin. And I'm nice."

Oscar for Jenny please.
and poor sweet Dominic (Barry Keoghan as well)
The character Padraic truly cared for his animals to his credit. The dark comedy was good in the movie.
