I’ve viewed at least 500 videos from “knife craftsmen” on RUclips and am overly critical at times, but I must say; NO ONE, has made any better quality, beautiful and awesome set of knives as this young man. Simple tools, no full of themselves videographers, no verbose self gratification just think it, do it, show it and get on with it. Don’t want your head to swell but the best by far in my humble opinion, ever. Thank you son.
Yep, I have been making knives since about 1980, my favorites are folders, but this is a great great video, and a well made remarkable knife. Get an initial stamp or an engraver and SIGN your stuff, it is something to be proud of.
It's a nice knife for sure, and its refreshing to see more simplified tools, but saying NO ONE has made a better quality knife on youtube is insane. There are much more complex ways to heat treat O1, making a higher quality knife. There's plenty of people out there doing work leagues above this. Not trying to put this guy down, he is very skilled, but check out someone like Nick Wheeler or even Alec Steele if you want to see someone pushing the limits on quality.
I've probably watched a 100 hours of knife making videos, spent time tracking down a used grinder, a small belt sander, still looking for a drill press, hoping to make my first knife on the cheap. But I worry my sander isn't strong enough, and then I'm over thinking the jig to get the angle right, and then I see this. Amazing work, with the cheapest, oldest, and even rusty tools. And the end product is world class compared to the tools you had to work with. Reminds me of a true fisherman, doesn't need the $1,000 rig, it's the "know how" and wisdom applied to a small set up that catches the fish. I'm inspired to order my 1040 this week. Thank you, I needed this!
Nice twins dude. These two knives are some of the finest I have ever seen. Your work ethic is tremendous and your video is one of the best I have ever seen. Thank you.
I must admit. When I started watching your video, I was concerned it would be another "DIY make another inferior knife out of tin foil" kind of video. Ive been proven wrong. I'm impressed with the amount of precision and quality craftsmanship in your video. Much appreciated my friend. I truly enjoyed your video.
Congrats to you man. It looks like we started our channels at roughly the same time but you're over twice as large as mine. You have some great content and you deserve to be even larger. Keep it up.
Peter Adamson Knives thank you. I'm working on a couple of knives at the moment but my camera screwed up so I kind of had to hold off on making them until I buy a new one.
At 1st I thought this was going to be a really crap video, however how wrong can I be! You are a pleasure to watch so very skilled. It's so nice to see that with just basic tools something so beautiful and wonderful can be made. Love it thank you for posting.
Nicely done! You definitely have the knack. You have demonstrated that one doesn't have to have a lot of expensive tools to do this if you are willing to put in the time and effort.
Great video! Very noble attitude sharing your knowledge for free, taking your time to help others. Beautiful display of kindness. Thank you very much. May God bless you and your beloved ones.
Nah man, him making them the way he does with his simple set up of tooling is what makes his vids & knives so cool, 100% all hand made makes them so much better as well as his determination & skill level
This video got me into knifemaking, I copied the exact template but eventually never finished it completely. After making several other knives I finished this design recently. Suddenly I see this video again after almost 2 years, this video partly triggered this awesome hobby!
Thanks for sharing! Great work, wonderful knives! Just one remark: At the end, when you sharpen them at the leather belt. Turn them over the back of the knife, not the edge. It's just a little modification of your movement, but it's what you should do when using a leather belt. Thanks again!
@@sixteenstone007 ok. When you pull the knife over the leather you have to make a decision at the end of the movement: "how will I turn the knife?" Ond direction will keep the edge close to the leather, the other one the back of the knife. With the first one you will rounden the edge, as you unwillingly will increase the angle at the end of the movement. The other direction let's you easily avoid this. When barbers still had these razors, they did it over the back of the blade. And I just found a video where you can see it: ruclips.net/video/rgsEKpA4SUI/видео.html

What a beautiful set of knives, every part of the knife complements the other, truly a work of art, but the shape and size of the blade and handle look so functional. Thanks for sharing.
Boats'n Hoes Inc. I think it’s interesting that there is even a classification for hunting knives anymore. Basically whatever you use to gut your kill is a hunting knife lol
Very nice handles, blade shape, ergos, sh*t it's about perfect and with such basic tools. Very impressed. Love how the handles taper down so much at the front and the downward pointed blade.
Tony Dadon you don't need a video to share your experience with a novice or an expert. Using a belt sander with gloves can hurt you if you touch the rotating surface. That's helpful advice from people who have stopped a grinder with a hand accidentally. But i do hear what you are saying. Some can be a little much.
Great video Peter. I've made lots of videos of my machine shop tools so I know how much time you put into the editing. I learned a lot, will be putting it to use on my 1st knife soon. Thanks
He is using some hobbyist tools though... not only hobbyist tools but some ^^ I need a video called "Making a hunting knife using ONLY hobbyist tools" lol
The belt grinder is unrealistic to be expected from a hobbyist, but all the other stuff like the forge and the anglegrinder are pretty basic tools for knife making
@@justaamateur6533 you can use a belt sander, clamp it upside down to a flat surface, and use some #60 & #80 belts. It should be noted that he's also using annealed steel for this process.
Have you seen professional tools? A single knife belt grinder costs almost $2,000. A $100 combo bench grinder / belt sander is absolutely hobbyist. If you all think those are too high level to be for a hobby, you’re not a hobbyist. You’re a daydreamer. You probably spent more money on coffee or soda last month than that cheap ass bench grinder cost.
Cool video dude, you clearly had what kind of knife you wanted to make & went with it working with your simple set up of tools, awesome knife, congrats!
My jaw dropped as I watched you ACTUALLY use a hacksaw all the way through that steel 😂😂 this is really cool to see basic stuff being used to make these awesome knives

I agree. I think that the knife he made with the tools at his disposal was incredible, but still not the best thing I have ever seen.

You can always tell by the bare patches on someone's forearm that they have properly sharpened their knife.
I was just thinking that!! 😂
Thats why you test it on your leg ahaha
Or you can were thinking of shaving your arm then chicken out half way through
Screw forearms, I gotta legs like a lady cuz of that
