The amount of people I've told that I make electronic music they always say so you DJ? NO.... 😂
You don't know what your missing..... Get some decks and have a play it's awesome
@@superlazy3355 I've done DJing years ago it was fun but I still prefer being behind the scenes and make some killers old school techno...
@@NathanChisholm041 fair play, keep up the hard work.... But you should definitely invest in some decks and get back to having fun!
the struggle is real
Just tell them you play the computer.
Dude I’ve never seen anyone program a 303 that fast. Awesome stuff
Fr
Yeah... I'm going to have to call a bit of bs on that.
Yeah I didn't notice him pick how many notes, or put in the slide or anything...
I have the 303 and while I like the way my yellow one looks I don’t use it much but there isn’t much to randomly programming it. Looks ✅ ok 👍🏽
That's because it's not a 303.
Tapping random notes in the td-3 and saying: i don't know what its gonna sound like." Is so relateable
Literally how DJ Pierre created acid house
@@robertlemiesz7143 Lol maybe you need to google Charanjit Singh
@@robertlemiesz7143reminds me of the time I ran in to an old friend at the bus stop-she had just returned from train hopping across the country. She invited me to drink at their place, and I crashed with some circuit-bending crust punk Devo groupie squeegee kids upstairs. By the time I emerged from a k-hole, my Kaos Pad had mated with their barely functioning circuit bent 808, though slightly annoyed, they were also impressed. This new genre was lost forever with one wrong twist of a knob & I made out with the bicurious wood-glued mohawk guy while his straight best friend roommate paced in and out of the room uncomfortably as if I was stealing his man. Apparently he was the only “questioning” party present. Never have I woken up so flea bitten.
i have no idea what is happening [almost] but i LOVE it 😂
It's just sampling sounds to play in a loop
I know exactly what is happening and I love it. Just plugging all of it in can take 30 minutes.
I was impressed at how nice that improved 303 pattern came out! 10/10
Because it's not, the 303 is a utter pain to programme.
That's exactly what making electronic music is for me! A few years ago, I hated electronic music, especially techno. All I heard was the thump thump of the kick drum and found it distracting and annoying. Then this one day came, I had headphones on and for some reason my phone played a song by Stephan Bodzin - Singularity in the middle of my playlist (I usually listen to boom bap HipHop- 90's Kid ;) ). And at that one note an electric shock went through me, I got goosebumps, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and my knees became weak. Actually it wasn't anything special. Actually just several sawtooth waves and the cutoff and modulation are cleverly used. And of course his trademark, the octave jump. Anyway, I was hooked from that moment on! I've been making music as a hobby for a long time, I'm also a technology enthusiast and of course I wanted to know how it works. Okay, so I need a synthesizer...what the hell is a synthesizer and what is a Sub37...Thank you google..a few minutes later I knew that I had to win the lottery to get one. Maybe you can build something like that yourself? And that's how I found Sam (Look mum no computer, is his name here on RUclips). A young, funky man who likes old things and especially synthesizers AND also builds them himself! And that's how it all started, my first oscillator got a peanut butter jar as a housing, my envelope generator got a plastic bucket that used to contain potato salad 😁 and so on... at some point I built a rack and made real panels out of aluminum. And that's how the love for these devices arose. At some point I found a few cheap models, e.g. the Volca series and of course some devices from Behringer - thanks Uli 😉. Why am I telling all this? I don't know, but it just had to come out. And so a hardcore hip hopper became a synth nerd. With that in mind, Happy Knobbing🤩
Hey it’s a great story and inspiring for someone like me who has always loved music and found electronic music intimidating
Your story is so incredibly relatable. I mean, I've always considered myself open to most music, but my main love was heavy, even extreme metal, but I let myself be peerpressured into rejecting many genres of music - especially electronic music - because of the misconception that it was 'just' thump thump with no real depth to it.
Couldn't be furher from the truth! Every genre has lazybones, so of course it happens with electronic artists just as it happens with extreme metal artists.
Thanks for the story, it made me reflect! :)
Such a nice story ❤
Sam Battle helped me go from 😡 to 😀 making music.
pretty nice DJ setup
And he's a good DJ.
The amount of times I've been considered a DJ while actually being a live sound engineer.
Honestly, live electronic music is way more satisfying to hear than so called "Djs" nowadays.
If night clubs had real live performance like that with big screen to look at the action, I will definitely consider spend time in it.
Putting a post-it over the Behringer logo is so cool.
lol do we hate behringer now?
Why is it cool? Cool is embracing your limitations, also anyone who cares can tell it’s a behringer anyway, May / White / Corgan had sounds defined by inferior gear, they didn’t tape the logos
@@tanssi2145
Ever heard of sarcasm?
@@BroMordekai now? behringer has been hated for a long time now.
@@philosyche Really? Like what's so bad about it? Do they make objectively bad products that are a waste of money?
I have a few behringer things (mostly for guitar) , and never had a problem with them. They do what they are supposed to.
I am really out of the loop on this one. More than usual.
So please, feel free to clue me in xd
does the sequencer control the master clock? Or are all the pieces of hardware connected to a computer that controls the master clock? I have always wanted to have a set up similar to this but there are so many intricacies that I have a hard time finding specific information about.
Really cool though!!
Pretty Lights is the GOAT of live electronic music right now. Setting a new standard.
Honestly what he's doing and what this guy's doing are kind of apples and oranges
100%. I found the coolest person in the room right here 😎 lol
Haha! I have a pretty sizeable modular rig, and my colleagues ask me "How's your DJ thing going?"
You gotta just stop worrying about that same old question.
Yeah it's like if you know how to write a few lines of code, people will start asking if you could "fix" their computer. Most of those cases, the problem usually is between the monitor and the chair lol
@@proximityclockworkx1572 "the problem is usually between the monitor and the chair" is the hardest line i have ever heard
The more I learn about dawless machines the more I’m amazed, inspired, and confused. Truly inspiring every time
Haha. Awesome short.
On a serious note, common ppl generally don't understand the difference....so it's nice if they can understand a bit what is happening.
yeah it´s a shame cause anyone can dj but few people can pull a live like this on.
Thanks for sharing this with us :)
Came here to say the same 💚👾
This is how live Eurodance sounds like.
Theres a clear differnce between live electronic and being a dj.
One plays music, one is an expensive cupholder.
If the ''DJ'' uses controler, sure. I bet you cant mix more than 2 vinyls at the same time. ;)
Yeah I'm gonna need to hear the full version of this tune immediately!
Sweet tune🎼🎵🎶
I swear that first arpeggio was the first sweep of 40oz. I think I’m going insane
No no you’re right lol the quick little run at the very beginning?
@@lukecartwright535yup
I LOVE THIS WTF!!! 🔥🔥do you Have Any tips On the best synthesizers??
I have both daw and hardware. I learned on hardware and I just appreciate it more.
hey bro! can u make a post explain how its works? its a wonderfull set up 👏🏽👏🏽
Amazing set bro.
Why the hell the whole alphabet is on his keys ? 😂
Hardware > *
Because his gimmick is making cool techno melodies with the full alphabet.
He does this thing where he spells out words and shows what they sound like
Why limit yourself to 8 notes when you can play with 26?
I was wondering the same thing😂
Actually insane!!!
Yeah, I was running a very similar setup back in the 80s, with several drum machines, a Sequential Multitrak and a Ensoniq Mirage.
Sounds amazing ngl
Mmmmm. Yes. That was jammin. Thumbs up up from me.
Will the sound quality be inferior if you play the same thing on virtual synthesizers?
Dude this is so good
Very hard work😮
🤔. Dude. U be jammin! Nice.
Wonderful, soothing sounds! Really nice track, Ws!
you must have a different audio channel from me.
cool setup with a mix of analog and digital. I used to run reason with rebirth all hooked to usb controllers to do similar setups. Lotta fun :-) awesome stuff I hope you keep making music
I've seen Giuseppe Ottaviani play his electronic music live like that too - it's quite brilliant!
The OXI One, nice!
This is incredible content
Nice music!😊
Bro where is the keyboard from?
Nice Formfaktor❤....
Nice Sound btw😊
Needed more video like this for learning...
lovely I wish i had time for this in my life
do you have a full list of what you use in this vid? looks awesome
holy shit you programming in 303 sequences pn the fly? thats mad!
Like daft punk, I always loved how they did their show in 97
Even a d.j. setup isn't that confusing 😂
Very nice setup, i try to learn how to make music with Software. I hope someday i achive a setup nearly as awesome as yours. You have a awesome way to teach, hope we can learn and see much more of it from you :).
Dude. I love this explanation video. Please keep sharing more. I want to learn how to do this.
Nice! And nice video.
Impressive!
yeah but can you do a whole hour plus set without any breaks and keep it interesting ?
Respect for all the DJs, but this shit is way cooler 😂
At least you have a "Set Up" My Dream💔
Nice dj setup
Pairing this up to a DJ set would be lit for good parties.
I have a question. Whats the difference between dj setup and live electronic music setup
THANK YOU! I appreciate you explaining that there is a profound difference between dj's and Musicians. Dj's suck!
Sounds awesome!!! What mixer do you use? I’d love to see a video where you explain your gear and how to make it bang! Thanks dude!!! Thanks for not being a DJ
As someone randomly selected by "The Great Algorithm" to watch this video, I must say that was a very educative, simple and no-nonsense introduction to this genre and your craft. Amazing!
303 programming was crazy
No one thought that was a dj setup
303 gimme some acid! XD
Definitely looks like a DJ set up to me. I'm just trying to figure out where you got the thumb drive plugged in
😂
Where does one learn all this?
Sounds hot :3
😂 I wasn't done listening to that
It’s a little bit like music!!😹
im saving this video so i can make groovy live loops like this
What step sequencer he use???
You’re a wizard! But to critique the actual song- it was like a pharmaceutical ad, but faster
Good👍👍😊
love it!
As soon as that beat started playing, I knew you knew what you were talking about
Do you prefer the eqs boosted like that?
idk whaty hes bangibng on about but i fw it
I have mad respect for this kind of stuff. Mad skill
???
@ it takes a lot of skill and perfect sense of timing to do live looping. I’m just saying I respect that skill a lot 👏🏼
@@stevenkralovec I disagree very strongly. Playing any instrument in time is about 100 times more difficult.
This guy puts almost zero effort into coming up with a tune. His goal seems to be to do it as quickly as possible. That's why his music sounds like some AI-created trash.
@ I can see where you’re coming from, but with other instruments you can make mistakes and get back on time, but with live looping if you make even a slight timing error at all, you’ve screwed up the whole thing, in my understanding. They’re both just different. That being said, I also still find it difficult to play instruments in time with a metronome haha, so I get you.
@@stevenkralovec I think you made my point. If you could play in time it would be easy to use a looper.
That's just one more reason why it's good to actually play your music. Keep practising and you'll get there.
Livest rulez💣🔊
Coooool😊
whole different tune with the low end back in the mixer boom boom boom boom
This is awesome
Bro that sounds so good but why did u take the low end out while recording?
De donde proviene el sonido del kick?
Niceee selection of boxes
HOW DID YOU GET VOCALS LIKE THAT :(((( IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND VOCAL SAMPLES SINCE FOREVER AND IDK WHERE TO FIND EM, there's none on Splice....
Sounds like when I play as a DJ.
Pro tip: Keep your damn space READY to record, always no matter what. I keep my rack mostly on when off time and everything warm so it's go time you can record and just bang out scratch tracks.
music shouldn't be this complex and you made it look easy 😭😭😭
Please show you connect it all to your pc
Going DAWless be recreating a DAW :D
Need this setup !! Can you name the gear in this vid?
roland JU-06a (synth)
roland tr-09 (drum machine)
roland sp-404 mkii (sampler)
behringer td-3 (bass synth)
oxi one (sequencer)
donner n-25 (midi keyboard)
pioneer djm-900nxs (mixer)
i'm not 100% on the mixer, but that's what it looks like.
you may want a more affordable mixer.
Whats the Name of the Loop Station and whats the price
When I think of EDM I think of Deadmau5 in how he has like 50 keyboards, a studio, his monster PC setup with Ableton, FL and Reaper on it
This is like acid Fred again
What hardware are you using?
Cool for showing this, cause a lot of people don't know the difference and they should be informed
yea the djm900 makes for a nice mixer with synths got one setup myself
Nice set up
Sounds sick 👌
But I am curious as to why the entire alphabet is on your keyboard 🤔
