Crimea has de-facto been Russia since 2014 and also was historically Russia. Wasn't ever considered part of Ukraine until Kruschev gave it to the Ukrainian SSR arbitrarily in what, at the time, was a fairly inconsequential change of the USSRs internal border arrangements. Before that it was part of the Russian FSR.
Better, in the interest of avoiding political bickering, to just go with de-facto borders and leave it out at this point.
@@GeneralGrievousCIS im not exactly qualified to speak about this topic, but i would personally say crimea was historically tatar, not russian, as it was under the rule of the russian empire for 134 years (171 if you consider it to be under russian rule until it was transferred to the ukrainian SSR, and 208 if you are going continuing til the end of the soviet union), yet under the rule of the tatar crimean khanate for 334 years. not to mention its rule under the golden horde. and if im remembering correctly, even the kievan rus at its height did not control the area known as crimea today. however im not here to argue, and like i said im not qualified to speak about this, so if i got something wrong, feel free to correct me cause its always good to learn.

@@ilovenotela I'm not aware or Kuban having ever legally been part of Ukraine... especially not in modern history. Ukraine's brief pre-Soviet Independence period (Treaty of Brest-Litovsk) as a German client state certainly did not include those regions (or Crimea, for that matter).
