We are in Australia and have pipis which we call cockles, alot of water is used, though i will save it for the garden and grow the veggies to go with the dish. Thanks for the video
My cockles were closing well. But after I added salt and soaked them, I checked after 30 mins, they didn't close anymore. Did I do something wrong? Did they die after I cleaned them?
Hi Ely Suratin, thank you for sharing 😀 No, you did not do anything wrong. If the cockles were not closing, it means they have died. However, the cockles are not supposed to die after soaking in salt water for 30 minutes. It's possible that they were not very fresh and were dying already. It can happen sometimes as it's quite normal if the cockles are not very fresh. Hope it helps 😀
@bigred9428. Yes it was a lot, as cockles live in a total mud. That's why we have to wash and soak and wash until it's super clean before cooking. Otherwise it will have smell of med once cooked. Thank you for the comment 😀

Put washing machine
Hi Ram, oh dear, I hope not. Doing so could spoil the washing machine, or contaminate it with the mud from the cockles. Hope it helps 😀
@@HomeCookingwithSomjit noted. Thank you so much 😊
You're welcome 😀
Wow! So much dirt!

Water is precious. Avoid eating cockles.
Hi lwc1029, thank you for the comment 😀 Indeed, avoiding it is also an alternative if preferred 😀
No chance am doing all that I’d just put them in washing machine on a cold fast cycle
@user-gr5ek6fn9i. Hahaha. great tips. Thanks for sharing 😃😃
