On another note i wish the Yankees didnt DFA Michael Tonkin so quickly he was so valuable the first half of the season and was going through a tough stretch shouldve had a longer leash they couldve used him! Also..they need to use The Martian as their DH..his defense is a liability...and Stanton needs to sit. Verdugo has good stats in the playoffs.

I think Soto will go for the highest offer based on his responses to questions on and off all season. sseems like it's the payday that will count. I'm thinking mets or Dodgers will offer him more. Hal is too worried about Payroll which is kind of sad.. With the price of season tickets and just tickets in general and the amount of fans at every game, why not pay Soto and keep all the fans with him and udge being a huge draw.

I watched Stanton for years in miami playing the outfield, Soto is a great hitter but he gives me Stanton vibes playing out there, Stanton is 34 now and moves like a statue. Offer a contract he walks, he walks, he wants money over legacy. This team in 2025 is going to look completely different. Enjoy what we got now.

    • @jjaffbaseball15

A couple key differences between Soto and Stanton:
      1) Soto has a far more sustainable physical build than Stanton
      2) Stanton played on turf in Miami for the first several seasons of his career, which is rough on the knees and hips of position players
      3) Soto has a far more repeatable, consistent swing than Stanton, as well as elite plate discipline

I know no one wants to think like this but where do you think the Yankees pivot with their off-season spending if Juan Soto signs elsewhere? All of a sudden, you have all of this money that you were going to allocate to one guy and now have to/get to spend it elsewhere? The Yankee infield has a lot of questions for next season. The only guy I'm guessing we're 100% sure of is Jazz Chisholm and he could be at second or third base. Anthony Volpe will probably be there at short but he's been pinch hitting for in big spots lately--maybe the team is beginning to have some creeping doubts about his future. Alex Bergman of the Astros will be out there. I don't really think this is a possibility but Pete Alonso would be out there. Wouldn't that be something, if Juan Soto and Pete Alonso switched New York teams. Willy Adames is going to look to cash in on a huge year, somewhere. Could the Yankees sign him and put him at second base?

We let some guys go, buy Bergman and Goldschmidt. 350m, Soto will only be $10 million or so more because he’s already making 31m this year, along with our 6 Man pitching rotation should be fine for a two peat

Soto has one more test. Post season with NY. If he hits well and plays well then yes, he gets a blank check. If he hits 205 w few or no homers and they get knocked out early, there is no blank check. He maybe gets 500 or 550 for 12-15 years and if the Mets or someone else pays more, so be it. Go out and use that money to get two corner outfielders, a second baseman and a pitcher.

The Astros still currently have a losing record against teams above .500. Last I checked those playoff teams they will face are all above .500. They might seem like they’ve regrouped but in reality their division is an absolute dumpster fire and they’ve benefited greatly from facing three of the worst teams 13 times. They’re not what they once were that’s for sure. Not scared at all of that team.

Soto extension means lack of talent for the team. Cole. Judge. Stanton. Rodon. So much money tied into those guys that's still owed. Yankees will not be the biggest money offer. Keep Soto and run Ben Rice, and a few no-names, we could be looking at a repeat of 2023 if they do sign or don't. It's crazy how bad of a position they are in going into an off-season. Hal could make 7-8 billion, and go do something he actually has real interest in, rather than giving Cashman carte Blanche on the discount bin. I WANT the Yanks to get to another WS before I die. I would think, given the resources the Yanks have, and the fact that it’s been 15 F’n YEARS since, there would be more urgency, than just the usual pap, thrown out for the masses. Again, I love your show, but I guess I’m a realist, but I’m not a defeatist. Nothing would thrill my sports soul more than to see Judge lead/carry this team to a title or three, understand that. I don’t trust the organization, the way it’s being run, and the ones who are running it. Go Yanks……..

Hal Steinbrenner isn't a winner, and could care less about winning. If Soto signs elsewhere because that's what he wants, so be it. But, if he leaves, because the Yankees were outbid, Hal needs to do the right thing, and sell the Yankees.

I still think Soto is gonna walk. The Yankees aren't going to give a blank check, and $500m+ would be better spent on improving other positions

You could be right. But the issue I see is that the Yankees are day and night different from last year thanks to Soto. If they think they are going to get worse without him, they are keeping him.

I think the yanks will be competitive with the offer but I think he's gonna take the biggest bag. No loyalty for Soto he will go with the biggest offer and Mets will probably make him a captain or something

I don’t know where Soto will end up but the Yankees will make a competitive offer. If by blank check you mean something like $600 million, then sure, maybe they won’t go that far. But they wouldn’t have given up the package they did for him without the intention of trying to retain him and not put their best foot forward. They’ll definitely be in the mix.

the way the yankees handle their prospects it's no wonder that jasson is showing some apathy now.
they screwed him over all season and then only bring him up because of pressure from the fans and verdugo's horrible production.
