15 or more years ago there were air rifle pellets like this called red thunder, they were shown exploding and punching clean thru both sides of glass bottles.

Modify a hornet-type pellet by removing the tip, drill, and fill some space behind it, and then you would likely need to bond the tip back to the pellet. My theory is upon impact, the tip would be driven into the target. Edit: There's got to be some relationship to the mass/velocity differences of the two pellets. Additionally, maybe filling hybrid slugs with explody stuff in gel would be fun. Messy for the gel, but if they perform as expected....
Could it be that the speed from air rifles is too low and therefore the explosion, as it takes place at the front of the pellet, slows down the projectile?
I made some of these using a mexican hollowpoint pellet that has a sealed skirt with hollow pellet body and was able to fill them up with these stuff and was surprised that they made a thud sound on impact and a ball of white light about softball size.
Yeah it's called put petroleum jelly in the cup of the pellet and if you use a hollow points put a little on the hollow point you get 10 to speed and when they hit they go boom
Dieseling is a really good way of ruining your air rifle and putting pet jelly in the tip won't do anything. It's the compression tube that makes it diesel, impact won't.

That breech wont last long slamming it shut like that.. its made out of mild steel so close it gently or you will end up with the barrel wobbling all over the place after a while.
The exploding pellets are cool but so over priced for the amount you get and what they are. Add in the shipping and they are 1$+ per shot in .25 cal and you only get 44 pellets....Nice but that's gonna be a hard pass. The recipe is easy to make and add to your own H&N Crow Magnums in .22 and .25 caliber or a Daisy Hollow Point in .22 cal. The hollow point in both pellets are huge and allow for more mixture. Anarchy Cookbook has a great recipe for the paste for those like me that still believes shooting airguns should be cheap and not cost more per round than firearm ammo.

While it seems cool, i very, very strongly urge you not to shoot random exploding pellets you get sent. Many of these mixtures are very sensitive, such as the match head mixture, and could detonate just from lightly shaking around in your pocket. I see why its tempting to try DIY exploding pellets, but the danger level is likely higher than you think and could easily lead to a serious accident.
i got some of those egw exploding slugs for my AEA T9 .357 air pistol that puts out 100+fpe on its own , now will be really potent. smiles. only thing 30 slugs for $45 and shipping is another$10. i wonder if there is a threshhold where shipping is free?

California has gotten so completely Draconian with all of their regulations that you can’t even use lead split shot on fish lines anymore let alone ammunition. You can’t use 22LRs with lead in them or shotguns can only be used if you use non- lead shot. Power is useless if it’s not accurate,having blueprinted air guns to be match accurate and consistent i know not every barrel likes a certain slug/ pellet ,you can change the barrel mass to tune it to a particular pellet but I will not bore you with the math, if you can’t hit the bullseye at your hunting distances consitantly with the slug/ pellet your using then change it,I would test guns with multiple different pellets over a chronograph to find the most consistent powerful pellets then take them on a range and test for accuracy and choose the most accurate of the bunch it none came up to scratch I would then look at the state of tune and or barrel mass

I made exploding pellets years ago and just scrape off match heads water down to a paste and fill in hollow pointed pellets

fft-lbs/lb-ft is a measurment of torque not muzzle velocity, should be FPS(feet per second).
