I have Empire of Normality on my TBR! I'm looking forward to reading it! I did not keep track of how many books I bought in 2024 because it was a LOT! I'm working on a low spend year as well, so hopefully a lot less this year.
Oh yes! I'd love to hear what you think of Empire of Normality when/if you get to it! Ahah, I didn't use to track how many books I acquired either, but it's been a useful piece of info to look back on this year, and I'm looking forward to seeing the variation in my overall stats through the years :)
That is so true ^^ Although I've had experiences of purchasing a book, waiting too long to read it to the point I was not interested anymore and unhauling it unread, which is a bit sad. But I also really love the metaphor of the wine cellar my husband told me about - book lovers collect books the way wine lovers curate a wine cellar. Not necessarily to drink each bottle right away, but to curate a collection and have something for each occasion.
@ Of course, you can’t expect books to keep up with your fluctuating interests 😄 But there’s nothing to say you won’t circle back eventually! I like the wine analogy, that’s how I see it too! A collection with something for every occasion. 👌
oh no, I think I'd probably pass out looking at how many books I hauled in 2024 🤣😂 Hoping to join in for Neurovember this year since we won't be worrying about moving 😅
ahahah, for me, it was a bit painful, but enlightening ^^ Yesss, I'll be so curious to know which books you decide to pick for it! But it's still a while away, so I'll have to be patient XD
ahah, thanks. Yeah, 36 isn't bad at all, especially since it's about half of all the books I read in the year! But it's more the gap between than number and how many books I acquired which bothers me XD
Late comment because my January start has NOT been good aside from our buddy reads which I'm so grateful for 😅 You probably already know this but reading statistics are definitely my favorite kinds of videos 🥰 I love that you added the book accumulations because I didn't think of that. I might need to do that as well to really see where my spending is going to be. Including with the books that you've read, DNFd, and Unhauled. Thank you for putting together your top books -- I need to pick up the ones that you enjoyed, specifically Empire of Normality and Circe. 🩷 Hearing how happy you are about Neurovember makes me so excited for this year! 🤩 My favorite book for 2024 (finally decided) is The Dragon's Republic.
No worries! I'm also super behind on all the RUclips content of January because it's also been a truly terrible month. I'm trying to catch up slowly, but I think I'll need to let go to a degree ^^' Anyway, I'm also glad we still managed to do our buddy read! I still need to process my notes a bit better. Super curious to hear your thoughts about Empire of Normality and Circe if/when you get to them!
I seldom feel bad about buying books, probably because I convince myself that if I didn´t buy books I would probably spend my money on something that´s worse. Really want to read Knife and Circe. Read The Song of Achilles a few years ago and loved it!
Yeah, I don't want anyone to ever feel bad about buying books! I love to be able to support authors and bookstores. But it's also about being mindful for me, cause it's not sustainable to keep buying more books than I can read. And a bunch of other financial factors coming in at the moment too. I'm happy to live vicariously through other people's book buying for a bit XD Definitely recommend both Knife and Circe, and curious to hear your thoughts if you get to them!
@yes, my impression of people working at the libraries is great and I have a lot of faith in the libraries near where I live, I just have to go there 😅
Loved seeing your stats!!
Glad you enjoyed! Thx for watching ^^

The good thing is books don’t go bad! (Well some age better than others, but shelf life is usually pretty long!) So nothing wasted 😊

I feel like every year is the year of people saying “I bought too many books 😦”. I’m definitely in the same boat 😂
I liked seeing your reading stats ❤
I guess it's the "I should work out / eat better..." resolution of bookish people XD
Thank you for watching!

@@Curious-Cat totally understand! 🤣
lol I promise to let you know ASAP once we get to that time of the year
this is a lovely wrap up! what did you use to do your stats??
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it ^^ I have a spreadsheet where I track the books I read and own.
36 is pretty good in my eyes! I have the hardest time picking up books i buy in the year i get them 😅

@@Curious-Cat i applaud you anyway!! maybe this year will be better for both of us in this regard!

@ I agree, I buy mostly used otherwise I could not have bought all the books I own. I should really learn to use the library this year..
@@becomingabookwormI’ve recently discovered the amazingness of suggesting books for the library to purchase! 😊
