    That foot strap looks like a game changer. Definitely looks like it was designed by someone who actually wears foot trackers for more than 10 minutes at a time, and knows that a single strap around your foot is just horribly ineffective.

    Important if you're interested in the Tundra Trackers: They are more accurate than the competition with slow movements but they will absolutely lose tracking on quick movements unlike the vive trackers. So if you plan on using them as a tracking solution for BeatSaber, think again. They are also much easier to occlude because of their form factor so take that into account as well.

      Question. I do have full body tracking and sometimes had issues with my 2.0's. Do you think these would not be okay to replace the feet trackers I have? I dance about but I don't go as fast with my feet as with my hands.
      I currently use the trackers attached to fake crocs from Walmart via a screw. I'll use a proper waist strap soon to stop that wobble. Coming with the trackers that still haven't arrived. Do you think they're ok for feet trackers at least? I will either use my 2.0's from my feet on my chest or just keep them as spares if one dies as I already have 7. I am still waiting for mine. I was unfortunately unable to get 3 or I'd do feet and waist. I have long hair down to my bottom and I usually put the waist tracker behind me, so occasionally my hair comes loose and would have a possible occlusion issue... but I'm wondering if feet or doing waist and like 1 chest or something would be better... I just was having issues with the 2.0's before I moved. I haven't set it up yet as I'm traveling and have the whole system in my new house and am still looking for the camera/sensor for the vive wireless adapter as I can't go back to wired... but it also means I haven't tested it out in my new house to see if the issue was just related to that location or if it's the trackers. I was getting drift sometimes when getting too close to the walls. I was thinking either socket/outlet/electrical interference or occlusion.
      I have been trying to buy a 4th lighthouse for over a year...but valve's stock has been awful, so I couldnt test that theory. I've switched the feet with trackers that weren't drifting and had the same drifting with the feet as before...so not faulty trackers either.
      What are your thoughts on using it for feet tracking for if you dance about? I'm not the best dancer, but it's fun to dance about when making videos, but it sucks redoing the whole thing when you see your foot flying in the air or sticking out sideways while the rest of your body cooperates because of drift. Still waiting for mine to arrive so I just wanted your thoughts on the trackers since you have them. I got the 7 in 1 dongle so I don't use up as many USB slots. Yay!

    • @mrsearaphim4077
      @mrsearaphim4077 2 года назад +1

      @@AliciaBrownSugar At that point it's just trial and error. There are just too many variables into play to pinpoint exactly what's wrong. Could be any combination of different sub-optimal circumstances. I have 4 lighthouses/basestations and generally if I have tracking issues it has more to do with reflective surfaces so I make sure to take care of that first. Another thing that's caused me issues is poor Bluetooth signal/interference so I don't use 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi (which is on the same bandwidth) and make sure the Vive tracker receivers are well positioned (away from eachother, high enough, not behind objects, etc..). Then there's USB bandwidth. (that's a lot more complicated so I won't really go into that)
      I've received good feedback so far from dancers using the tundra trackers and when they work correctly (some people have big problems with them and there's almost no support from the company I heard), they work better than the vive trackers for dancing. I suspect the Super Dongle has a big role to play in that.

      Question, I have never actually have FBT except by using driver4vr and a kinect. My main question is about compatibility between the Oculus CV1 and the basestations. I know I had read somewhere that basestations could not see each other or something due to messing with tracking or something like that. Would the basestations somehow also affect how the CV1 trackers work, or would they not be affected at all. The CV1 uses constellation tracking although I am not sure if that is different than the laser tracking the basestations use.

    I have the 3.0's. That being said, I think that the reason that you should go with the Tundra is because you only need 1 single USB dangle, it's form factor on the waist feels better, and the battery is pretty much the same if not longer. • @AliciaBrownSugar

      I was a few hours too late for the early bird. So I'm still waiting for mine. As a current user, if you only had 2 of these, would you put them on your feet, or are the vive trackers better for that? I do have enough vive trackers for full body tracking and use them for that, but since this had the 7 in 1 dongles I decided to get it. I was unfortunately only able to get 2 because that was the max it would let me buy... (unless maybe I made a 2nd kickstarter account I guess...as they did have more... but I digress.) Would you say these are better foot trackers than the vive 2.0's? I didnt get the 3.0's. Right now I use the vive trackers attached to fake Walmart crocs via the screw so they stay in place. I haven't put it back together since my move, but before I moved, I was having interference possibly with the wall outlets. They'd start to drift randomly and only my feet when I got close to outlets. As I do dance when I do FBT, and my feet move a bit, I'm wondering if these would be ok for my feet or not. I was thinking of either using the extra 2.0's I'll have for chest or a backup for the knee or elbows or something, but seeing a comment about reliability has me wanting to make sure it is good.

    Except majority of vr users dont use base stations (WMR, Rift S and Quest) And the price of said base stations is still the price of a quest 2 for the minimum required. So if you want tundras you need to add +$300 to the price tag. So while yes, technically the cheapest full body trackers, they are still very much in the unaffordable range.

      I think slime is just gonna make want "real" FBT...slimes trackers communicating over wifi and constantly needing to be reset when one gets off is not worth the 200$ savings. Buy 2x 1.0 base stations on eBay for 200$ and get vive or Tundra... Way better experience. Speaking of Quest, I'm really disapponted that Facebook has done nothing after their demonstration of full body tracking more than 2 years ago. Also Slime is good for budget full body tracking. I think the slimevr will be the winner for quality and price, its 165 dollars for FIVE trackers (lower body) , it tracks itself so it potentially could work with quest games ( the trackers work on the quest standalone there is a video) but it would be up to the devs to add it

    • @ThyNervo
      @ThyNervo 2 года назад +3

      Its does not work on quest standalone, you still need a pc to send the signal from tracker>pc>application>quest, but maybe in the future they will make it tracker>quest>application, where you can use it via quest only

    • @Benadryl_Overdoser
      @Benadryl_Overdoser 2 года назад

      the tracking quality is not that good on slimevr. while vive trackers update at 120hz and the tracking only wiggles around 1mm while in range of the basestations and has low latency. slimes have a 1-10cm wiggle, update at 90hz and have more latency due to the fact that it connects through wifi. so if you have a slow internet connection or your far from your router, tracking is gonna be terrible.

    You should really look into updating the code on your VR platform so that the eyes track the camera. Your eyes look out in the distance behind the camera, as they do not converge at all or follow the camera at any point. This breaks the immersion of you actually being the avatar, and instead starts to feel more like a puppet. Just a little suggestion. Nice video review tho

    • @uhhhhokey2144
      @uhhhhokey2144 2 года назад +2

      wouldnt really be code, but more like going into unity and telling the eyes to look at other people/things. which lots do! people think i have eye tracking due to some of my avatars “maintaining” eye contact when i look in their direction!

  • @maxplosion1
    @maxplosion1 2 года назад +3

    Just wanted to say, I really love your content but there are a few things that I find a bit shady in this video.
    Firstly you round the price of vive trackers and straps to $450 from $440 making it seem higher, but I can forgive you for that because it's relatively small and accounts for shipping/regional price changes. Second, you don't account for the base stations or even mention if they're necessary, which would up the price for a BEGINNER to an unreasonable amount. Lastly, I don't know whether it's tone-deafness or privilege that makes you believe that this would be good for people just getting into FBT. You are actively praising the $300 price tag while neglecting to mention the added price of the base stations, especially saying that (as previously mentioned ) beginners would not have already, like yourself. I find it extremely irresponsible to recommend this to beginners advertising realistically half the actual price (with the base stations bringing it up to $600 if buying legit) when things like Xbox Kinect($40) and slime VR($303-$313) exist. While the tracking on the previous examples might be admittedly poor, they are much more reasonable to someone with 0 experience with FBT and might not even like it.
    If you actually read this I thank you for your time and want to clarify that my first statement IS true, I've been a fan for quite some time and I just wanted to share why I was frustrated with the claims you made. I'm not trying to say that Tundra trackers are bad, or that they're not worth the money, I'm just saying that it rubs me the wrong way to try to tell your audience that they NEED to make a $600 investment at the get-go if they want to experience FBT. Thank you for reading and I'll stop wasting your time now.

    My issue won't be trackers but the light house (base station) technology.
    They are expensive because they need to process complex math before sending the data via wires to your PC.
    What might be interesting is if we could use relay devices with a single base station to reflect signals off of another device to get the blind spots... Like a satellite dish on the wall on the opposite side..

    • @martinvr1394
      @martinvr1394 2 года назад

      This is not how lighthouses work. Lighthouses are not connected to the PC using any cable, it's the trackers that communicate to the PC wirelessly after doing computations internally.

    I know I'm late to this, its a good full body kit, but doesn't save that much money. Sure, if you just buy the kit, it will be anywhere from 300-400$, I think it's 350$ right now. But they don't come with any way to attach the sensors. Seeing as this was my first full body kit, I needed straps. Sure, I could have done a DIY system, but I bought their straps. If they sold everything including straps as a bundle for 350$, it would be a good deal. But if you buy their straps you are looking at another 100-150$. I think I spent around 450$ for everything, and when compared to other full body trackers, it isn't that much cheaper. It does work well though, ill give it that. It just isn't thag cheap imo.
