These shutters also have a lock … that when you put the shutters down you take the extra security off also locking the shutters… I know this because we owned a apartment in liz not far from this terrible crime … if the lock was on no one would have got in 🤷🏻‍♀️

Something that I only heard once at the time was the suggestion that Gerry had been flirtatious with a waitress in the Tapas bar & Kate had stormed off. I think it was possibly J. tanner who said that? If Kate had gone to the apartment to check or to calm down, she might be keen to re-join the group to see what was going on. If M woke up that could be very frustrating for Kate?

To have used the shutters to enter the room and take Madeleine, the kidnapper either had to know that the children were alone with no chance an adult would enter (and none of the 3 children would cry or scream) or they were incredibly lucky. Neither theory seems plausible.

The shutter theory is ridiculous. They weren't jemmied. And if you look at the photos, the bed is pushed right against the wall. You have to climb over the twins. Twice. Also the shutters are pretty closed, why would someone close them behind him? With the child in his arms.

    • @Trev-jz6yw
      @Trev-jz6yw 9 месяцев назад +13

I always wondered how they knew they were alone, and obviously they could of watched and seen the parents but whose to say they didn’t have a babysitter with them? Or that the doors were locked? And the noise or crying doesn’t matter, even if they did one could grab a child and be gone in 10 seconds regardless of hearing them! And even if the neighbors heard a cry or a yell that’s not abnormal for a toddler! To me the odds of them being kidnapped by a random stranger in the circumstances that happened are a lot slimmer than the parents being responsible for something! But the parents have witnesses they were with at dinner saying they checked on all of the children and they were still alive? So their friends are lying, helping to cover for the parents or someone actually did take her?

Their reaction seems totally off. so dismissive. Even if they'd left their children alone before This should be a wake-up call to them to not leave the children alone again. It would be clear that the system was not working. Also they obviously lied about half hour checks if Maddie cried for an hour and a quarter. I think the fact that she woke up led to Kate over sedating her the following night rather than give up their evening with friends. They were given a lie detector, but would only answer questions they themselves put in writing. Anything asked not on list their reply was no comment. Ow many criminals are there who supplied their own questions during a lie detector. They know what happened, they know where her body is. The night before according to the mother, the child woke up and got upset as there were no adults there. I reckon the next night the child was given a higher dose of sedation, ( they are both doctors), Maddie woke up, but was unsteady on her feet, she tripped banged her head, and died, ( hence reason sniffer dogs picked up Maddies blood); The reason the parents came up with child being taken, was if they made report of Maddies death, a post mortem would have been done, as it would be seen as unexpected death, drugs would of been found in toxicology tests . The parents would have been charged with man slaughter. As for her mother’s sentence in book that she wrote, mentioning Maddies perfect genitalia, what parent would put that in a book, about their daughter when she herself said Maddie was abducted. They are both weird, they showed no emotion about their child’s disappearance, crumbs I panic if I am out with my young grandchildren, and I cant see them, even when their mums are there.

I'm sure that a colour photograph of Maddie with Gerry by the pool was published. Maddie is smiling looking happy and it was very sunny Gerry was squinting in the photo. The weather forecast said it was sunny but only when the group first arrived then it changed and went grey and chilly. It's odd that if Maddie was still alive no pictures have been put to show she was after the poolside picture.
If as doctors they decided not to use the babysitting service then I would think that it's because they were dining later in the evening and the babies and Maddie would sleep if a little sedative was given Maddie apparently wasn't a good sleeper and sometimes woke up. I can understand the group deciding that this would give the adults some time to eat and drink in peace knowing the children were safely tucked up for the night.
I think that they either didn't check on the children at all and found Maddie already gone when they got to the apartment possibly because too much sedative was given or Maddie did wake up and was crying I read that crying had been heard by someone in another apartment and she climbed on to something or managed to open the patio door and fell .
It would make sense that if Maddie was gone the McCann's and the entire group would be terrified of the consequences especially knowing that restaurant staff must have known that they all left their children alone. It would leave no other option than to invent the abduction theory stick together with their stories and try to convince the world she was abducted. I do believe that they all know what really happened but made a pact between them to prevent their other children being taken away by the authorities under negligence.

It's just sickening how little care they had for their own children. The report of the overhead neighbor who heard Madeline crying so long, and her mother's remark about Madeline's accusation of leaving her alone, makes both parents look like horrible parents IMO. I can't imagine one of my children waking up, and crying for over an hour, and their fear at being alone. I wonder if Madeline had trouble sleeping in a different place than she was used to? I am a retired police officer and i cannot understand why the mccanns are not in jail at the very least for culpable neglect of a child, i have watched with great interest the video footage of their interview, i have read of the lies they have put forward, `i cooperated fully with the police,` a lie they refused to answer questions, when the police started to suspect them they fled back to the uk, their behaviour throughout this sorry tragedy is bizarre and to date is certainly not the behaviour of any parent in these circumstances, they are lying and have been doing so since the beginning adapting their story to suit their narrative, putting forward red herrings to distract the police, one should also look closely at the way they have spent public donations, they have threatened anyone with legal action if they pointed the finger of suspicion at them, they have sued people. when it became political they became heroes and milked it for all that it was worth, the UK police invited them to speak at social events, politicians and two prime ministers offered their support, Uk police carried out their own enquiries which was a whitewash, normally the evidence of cadaver dogs is irrefutable and yet both seasoned and expert dogs were held as flawed, if this pair were not doctors they would both be in jail. I believe that maddie died in the flat some time before she was reported as missing and that they covered it up, I keep my fingers crossed and hope for maddies sake that someday the truth will out.

From behaviour and words expressed by the parents I consider the most likely scenario is accidental death but under circumstances that the parents may have some culpability either on the sleep drug or just leaving 3 small children unattended. Distracting everyone to an abduction scenario may be an overt attempt to garner sympathy for the parents. Even if Maddie had choked or slipped and banged her head there may be post mortem and toxicology which would incriminate, so for the sake of their other children and their careers they may have felt the need to remove her body. Without her body there will be no resolving this either way.

The mother being an Anesthesiologist, has always struck me,why Im not sure. But she quit being a Doctor in order to push the Children's funds...apparently being a fundraiser rather than a Doctor, produces more money? I'd assume you'd want to help children, not line pockets of those who run fancy chef laden dinners. Also, side note: Her depictions of her daughter's genitals in her book was the straw for me. While tearing that book and watching the flames, did nothing to assist me with my absence of empathy for those, who opted to drink with friends than tend to their children. Then uding their circumstances to spend time with super Villain Freud, as if being in the presence of a foul man who'd love to spend unsupervised time with their daughter, just makes me ill. Whether they did this or not, I can't assume, but their insistance to not take blame for leaving their children alone, shows to me either neglect or just stupidity. Either was the consequence for Madeline ended up the same. How people are so accommodating to this duo is obscene.

Yes I completely agree with You regarding the comments Kate made in Her telling book. Also the Freud connection, huge alarms there.
The fact Robert Murat changed story from alibi girlfriend to mummy who also reported a car seen by her on night of 3rd outside Apartment 5A… how was she with Robert all night then? He had phone conversations recorded where he mentioned not wanting to go down for something he didn’t do, but he’s involved because there’s discrepancies with his alibi, and the same recorded phone conversation he mentioned a contract….
Also is Gerry’s brother a van movie producer? Not sure if it’s true. But the political and media bias on this case is what disturbs me the most because it does indeed indicate that there’s more than just the coverup of a little girl disappearing.
Please reference the iridologists chart available online and compare Madeline’s eye and it’s right mark on her iris. The fact this area matches the pelvic and rectal is horrifying, if those GP statements from the Gaspers in Leicestershire are investigated and found to be verifiable ie, the holiday in Mallorca did occur then this is looking like a case of child abuse and neglect and perhaps wrongfully sedating children.
David Payne is creepy in his statement that the children looked angelic in white but didn’t remember Kate in towel yet he said he went in, Kate said he didn’t. What is this, some swinging doctors club? who invite other GPS along who are then exposed to the parents involved who mess with children? I don’t understand the arrangement of bathing the Gasper statement mentioned! WHO DOES THIS? Why would anyone allow this someone else bathing the children on holiday? Crazy to even consider it. Especially given overhearing said testimony! It’s not looking good at all, Freud, the Gasper statement, and the absolute disregard for any negligence or liability.
Kate, won’t answer over 45 police questions but nek minutes written a book. 🏆

@melissafarrugia9531 Good lord. You have some Stellar points. The lack of supervision of the children not once but several instances, reeks of neglect or sickenly willfully done. The Swingers angle, I hadn't entertained, but I wouldn't put it passed anyone of them. I mean, who goes out of the country,in a resort that provides 24 hour childcare, and wealthy enough to afford it but refuse to do so,while indulging in wine and tapas? I live rurally, and when I'm watching the grandchildren, and they are napping,I take the monitor to walk to the end of my drive to get mail. How could they risk so much? If my General Practioner doesn't have the sense to observe their children, not sure I'd want them to inform me of my parenting skills. It seemed from day one, no one was looking and it was just immediate damage control. Maybe I'm daft, but I would have never left Portugal ever, until my child was found. I would of told Gerry,he could suck an egg I wouldn't have left that area until I was convinced they've done everything and I've exhausted my search. I'd be the crazy homeless lady outside the resort demanding my daughter back. They left and have the audacity to profit off this misery. Your comments are amazing thank you for giving me food for thought. Shame neither of Maddys parents indulged questions like yours or mine. I can comment from experience on a couple of things. I have opened/closed blinds which use a belt driven gear/sprocket system as well as electric motor driven ones. To open from the outside (as originally claimed) you'd need to leverage the blind up to get your fingers underneath. The shutters are usually made out of plastic (although you can get more expensive they can also be aluminium). That would need a knife probably. Once you could get (gloved) fingers underneath the base, you still have to be careful keeping your hands synchronised. the gap between the blind and the retaining strip of steel is small and if you pull one side too quickly the blind will jam against the retainer. Whilst this can be fixed, it can be something of a challenge to get the blind back into total alignment again. A thief would be practised at this (?) a child abuctor less so IMO. Of course, from the outside no one could be sure the window would be latched closed, which makes the mothers/Gerry assertion that the window was where the person broke in highly unlikely. I would suggest any potential burglar would check the patio doors first. I suspect even locked, it would be easier to gain entry there anyway. It seems that we can be sure the doors were left unlocked give gerry's initial statement. I do agree that if they had agreed to check on each others children as a group, they probably would have been left open. In any caae, it is just as likely they would check on their own kids.
When i was 5 or 6, my parents took my brother (who would have been 3) and I on holiday to Spain (roughly 1970). Although I dont remember, I know that we woke up during the evening and started to cry. I recall being told (family gathering tale) we opened the door into the hotel corridor. Either way hotel staff found/heard us and alerted my parents, who returned from the hotel restaurant. Although Maddy was nearly 4, I think its likely that if she woke up, should may well have tried to open the patio doors to find her parents, especially after crying for an hour or more on the night before her disappearance. If the patio doors were left unlocked it is possible that she could have got out. I'm not sure that her parents would have taken that risk, especially after she had been crying the night before (I assume they found her awake or at least out of bed the previous evening, when they returned from dinner sometime after 11 pm or made a long delayed visit to check on they kids).
If we hypothesis that Maddy was taken, then both entry and exist by the patio doors seems most likely. Maddy would also need to be knocked out (chloroform say) as part of the plan. I find it impossible top believe a stranger could carry her without her screaming otherwise. On that basis alone, it would have to be planned in advance. Assuming Maddy was drugged, then opening the blind, window and then existing without stepping on the bed and leaving any marks on the wall/window sill seems high;y unlikely to me., especially carrying a child. If you entered through the patio doors, you would certainly leave that way. Would you really take additional time/effort to open the window/shutters to climb through onto a car par in sight of potential witnesses from the building opposite (although as many were probably holiday flats, occupancy might be quite low in May). Whilst not impossible it's highly unlikely. I also find it unlikely the two younger children would have slept through that.
The only reason why the McCanns seem to have focussed on abduction at all appears to be their claim that the blinds were up and the window wide open at c 10 pm after Gerry's check at c 9.30 and Matt's at c 9 pm. I think with at least 10 mins since the auction, the room would also feel quite chilly on entry, which might have been noticed. I do wonder (as a man) whether either gerry or Matt checked in the room itself. I know I might do no more than open the patio door and listen/look from the doorway in those circumstances, especially given that (if I was Gerry/Matt) I wasn't concerned about leaving young children unattended in the first place.
To me the window seems like a quickly thought out cover story without much thought being given to what an actual abductor might do or think. Regardless of the sound (which I think wouldn't be particularly noticeable by a witness except in hindsight) there really ought to be some forensic evidence present.
The final thing is that in the real world there just aren't many abduction cases involving very young children being kidnapped for payment (or by pedophile directly) from Hotel resorts at night in Europe. Indeed can we identify any others at all in European holiday resorts ? I dont recall hearing or reading about any other such instance.

I spent months studying the case around 5 years ago. I still feel an accidental death followed by a panicked cover up that got out of hand is the most likely explanation. Of course pure speculation but a theory that she heard Gerry speaking outside and climbed on the sofa to try to see. A freak tragic fall onto the tiled floor then ensued. The group panicked on discovery and a story was concocted as they believed their lives and careers faced ruin. A bit like when you see the worst happening when telling the truth would be the best option but they maybe envisaged being charged with neglect or worse. Once you start down that path its almost impossible to turn back. Of course I may be completely wrong and it was a genuine abduction but from what I have see there is little evidence to date of this. All we have is a missing child and lots of clues.

the upstairs neighbor's account is quite interesting. She puts the crying episode as happening late on 1st May. Kate claims that Maddie asked her why she didn't respond to her crying on the morning of the 3rd of May. But it seems more likely that Maddie would have said that the morning of 2nd May, after her big crying jag the night before. Why would she say that 2 days later and not the very next morning?? Unless Maddie also had a big crying session the next night, but again, wouldn't the same neighbor have heard it??? This would give some support to the theory that Maddie was given something to sedate her, because after her big crying jag on 1st May, the parents might have wished to prevent a repeat performance the following night.

As a parent, I know I would be a emotional basket case everyday for the rest of my life worrying as to where they are and what happened or what is still happening to them. Her parents don't seem to show the same level of emotional affect that I believe parents normally show under these circumstances. Given both parents of the child were doctors, I don't think that it is too far fetched to believe the parents accidentally killed the child by giving her a tranquilizer to get her to sleep that somehow triggered a bad reaction. Very sad situation, but in this case, I really feel in my gut the parents were guilty of manslaughter.

I agree with you. Also, I know that I would not be able to profit of my daughter's disappearance. IT would be like blood money. If I felt I needed to tell my story, all the money would be donated to children's charities or given to help efforts to find her. From the initial TV appeal onwards, they were more concerned on how it impacted themselves than how it did for Madeleine and more on reputational damage limitation, something they have always seemed waaaay to concerned about. I would have not given a shit about what people said bout me - at least, af first - I would have just been begging for her safe return and appealing to all witnesses to come forward with anything. Kate even managed sarcasm in the initial interview, saying, "we must have hidden her well". At that stage, I don't think many people even thought that. My thought was, I would never leave my young children alone in an apartment even if it was 10 metres away. Madeleine was the eldest child, btw, at 5. Accidents happen and, as they are not able to help themselves at that age, you need to be there just in case. They say it was 50m away. 50m as the crow flies. 80m by foot and hidden by a hedge. If one of them fell, you would not hear them scream if you were not inside, let alone that far away. Their behaviour struck me as incredibly self-centred. When we went on holiday with friends, one of us parents would take turns in staying with our daughter while the other enjoyed a meal out. We never left her alone, ever, and neither would most parents. Almost everyone I know thinks that something is just "smells wrong" with their explanation - from outright murder (which I don't believe) to that they knew more than they are letting on. Even if it was abduction and they knew nothing about it, I don't know how they can live with themselves for leaving her (and the younger twins) alone for their self-gratification. But they actually profit of the whole tragedy.
I think they wanted to go out for a meal and they sedated her with more than calpol. Something went wrong and they knew that if an autopsy was carried out then that would be discovered. As a result, they would lose not only the remaining kids but almost certainly one or both their jobs, not to mention the nice lifestyle they enjoyed and they would be the most hated parents in Britain, so they lied. But given how selfish they already were that is not surprising.
What has always struck me as weird is why the British establishment got so involved and for so long.

Trying to use logic to rationalise a person whose coming to abduct a child enters effortlessly via a sliding door but exits with a child in its arms via a window that is shuttered and that places them in the main thoroughfare able to be seen by anyone. Makes zero sense - why would you arrive via a door but exit with your loot through a shuttered window? See - makes no sense.

Thanks again for exploring further the window abduction theory. Its very unlikely that if the shutters were down that someone would use that way to come in or out. For one thing they wouldnt know what they were going into as the layout of the room and if they came in by the door, why would they leave by the window? They theory that the Macanns thought they must have been watched during the holiday, would obviously mean they were seen leaving the apt and returning through the door to check on the children, giving a so called abductor, their easy access. If you were taking a child you'd want it quick and quiet with least disturbance as possible.

Yeah, previous night is certainly possible. Night of the crying heard, also night of the McC reported..we had a silly argument and Kate went back to the apartment early and slept in the kids room. Followed by the day of unusual levels of activity between the McCs and the Tapas 7 (an early group mtg by the pool I think?) and unusual levels of phone activity. It's a callous business when you think about practicalities of nearly 24 hours in that apartment. Having the doctors ability to separate oneself mentally from gross aspects of physicality would have been an asset.

It's not credible to me that a three year old would ask, "Where were you when I was crying last night?" The question would be "Where were you last night?" And such a child who had awoken feeling scared and vulnerable in a strange apartment with only her baby twins and cuddle cat for comfort is unlikely just to move on and let the matter drop. Again this sounds like a story to cover their backs after the neighbour heard evidence of her neglect and discomfort. They're trying to make out that she was fine and didn't mind, which is palpably untrue.

For the love of God, how?? what?? else would you expect a nearly 4 year old to say. How could she tell her mother, when the mother didn't want to know. That was a blatant lie. I'm not surprised. Everyone apart from the McCann group just believed it was a missing child (I would suspect the initial police officers and hotel staff would have dismissed the McCann idea as parental exaggeration) on the night. Even then, I dont think it's realistic to think that the Police would consider accidental death by parental neglect as plausible until after the initial forensic examination anyway. I quick examination showed there was no blood or body (although I very much doubt anyone would have checked a closed suitcase or bag at that point either).
