Seriously, why aren't you using a steam boiler treatment in your boiler?

Really interesting! Thanks! I just bought a house with steam and am full-blown obsessed with it. Would love to see a video that just goes over your boiler setup; all the things you’ve added to it, why you’ve added them and what you’ve learned from them.

Interesting experiment. I think I should hunt down some 8-way. That said, have you considered doing the same test but using boiled water instead of just plain tap? That of course is what the boiler chest sees after a steaming.
Also, you might find it helpful to use litmus paper that’s targeted to the range of interest to better distinguish the colors.

Thank you! I have another container going with distilled condensate water and 8-way but I should make one with just plain distilled condensate to see how it compares with tap, you're right.

Most likely, the results would be similar, but curious what they would be using cast iron fittings that more closely resemble the boiler chest of the average residential steam boiler?

@ maybe I’ll run the test again with cast fittings, thanks!

Best way to keep old steam boilers alive is with an anode on the boiler, it just drains out as it dissolves, i used zinc rods for boats. 1991crown hartford loop.

      I don't disagree, but why wouldn't manufacturer's mention it?

why isn't brass pipe used for the near boiler piping?

@ probably due to expense and because steel and iron steam pipes and fittings last for decades anyway

@@donaldarcand6686 sounds good. Probably don’t even need that much. See if there’s a nice reduction in mud production
