    Thank you for the video!
    What I've noticed, many youtubers focus on tequila, some focus on triple sec and almost no one talks about lime. Seriously, I feel like all this syrup/nectar ideas come from different limes available in their region. If you have decent limes, they are naturally sweet and you don't need all this sweeteners, but sometimes they are just not fully ripe and juice tastes like pure acid. Then you definitely need some added sugar for that classy Margarita taste. So yeah, taste your juice after squeezing that lime and you will be king of margaritas in every occasion. To add complexity: different triple secs have different sugar contents which is also affecting the taste.
    Cheers!

    The margarita is one of my favourite cocktails but I never order it at a bar. A trick I use is that I rim half the glass with salt. Then I can have a thick rim that I visually appealing but you don't get a mouth full of salt every time you take a sip.

    Even though it's simple, a well-made margarita is a thing of beauty. Just like a whiskey sour. And like a whiskey sour, you already like it. It's a real easy sipper. I've been adding a teaspoon of simple syrup to even it out, but I might try going without it.

    • @DistinguishedSpirits
      @DistinguishedSpirits  8 лет назад

      In terms of the sweetener, Jim Meehan suggests adding a 0.25 oz of agave nectar. I don't usually make it that way, but if it's too tart for your tastes, the agave nectar is a good way to go. Cheers!

      +Distinguished Spirits Last night I tried it with a teaspoon of agave nectar. It was excellent! It actually makes the tequila stand out more and keeps the lime juice from overpowering everything.

    • @DistinguishedSpirits
      @DistinguishedSpirits  8 лет назад

      Oh good. Yeah using Agave works a little better that Simple because it's more complimentary. It has that earthy, vegetal agave taste so it helps bring out some of those qualities in the tequila. Anyway, glad it turned out so well for you. Salud!

    Distinquised spirits, I make my magarita with lazuna 2 oz 100% agave, 1/2 oz gran manier, 1/2 oz agave syrup, 1 oz lime. It has a distinct salty flavor that I love without a rim. Do you think it's from the blanco tequila? I can't perceive it from the individual ingredients., thanks for the channel

    • @DistinguishedSpirits
      @DistinguishedSpirits  6 лет назад

      I'm not sure. It shouldn't be anything in that list. I haven't tried Lazuna, but it looks legit. I can't imagine it has salt built into it. Perhaps it's that you're using a Himalayan Salt Glass to serve it in? Haha.

      @@DistinguishedSpirits He is referring to Lunazul, which is a nice entry-level tequila for about $20 a 750. I can't vouch for their blanco, but their reposado is nice and smooth for the price range.

    • @DistinguishedSpirits

      It's wild, I tried a couple different Blancos recently and they had a saltiness to them. Perhaps that's why they pair so well with salt in cocktails. I'll have to read up on that phenomenon. It's not universal, but saltiness is definitely part of the flavor profile of some Blancos and it's unmistakeable when it's there.

    why did you strain lime juice if you are using double strain after shaking the whole thing anyway?

    • @DistinguishedSpirits
      @DistinguishedSpirits  7 лет назад +2

      One was for pulp and the other was for the ice chips. I like to strain citrus juices before bottling them so that they're good to go for whatever drink I want to make, like a Tiki drink or a Buck or something like that. In this case, I also strained it again after shaking so that the surface of the drink would be clean. Cheers!

    I'm very late to your channel and this video but just wanted to post a huge thank you for the great content, history, and recipes. As for this margarita, we made the version you presented and my goodness, what a delicious cocktail. It's the first margarita I have made without the addition of a sweetener (agave nectar, simple syrup, etc.) and I was initially skeptical, but the recipe you present is absolutely incredible, to my tastes at least. Surprisingly complex given the drink only has three ingredients... well four if you include the salted rim of the glass. Thanks again, you have added a house favorite to our cocktail roster at home.

      Anyone who watches a video, obviously wants to learn something, perhaps will be better spend less time on the introduction, who already everyone knows about the culture or where it comes from, and put all the ingredients that are going to use, and when you are mixing them give a bit more time so anyone can understand what you are mixing, as far as I know, usually it is tequila mixed with triple sec or Cointreau, it was not clear to me if you added a third liquor, and also you went to fast on when you mixed the lime juice with some other juice, don't you think it will be better to present all the ingredients, and mix them so people can understand better?

    • @DistinguishedSpirits
      @DistinguishedSpirits  7 лет назад +2

      The ingredients for the drink are laid out at 0:17. The recipe starts at 3:11. In between is some history and background on the drink.
      During the recipe, it shows all of the steps. Juicing the limes. Salting the rim. Chilling the glass. Measuring the Tequila, Cointreau (Triple Sec) and Lime Juice. Shaking it and straining it into the cocktail glass.
      All of that is in the video. Are you saying that the ingredients at the beginning and the recipe at the end went by too fast? Is that the problem?
      Also, if it's helpful, the printed recipe is listed in the Description for the video. Hopefully that helps. Let me know.

    • @anacletaa100
      @anacletaa100 7 лет назад

      Thank you for taking time to write me back. You have prepared a very nice video, but you are going to fast with the important parts of the main idea, like the lay out of the ingredients and when you are mixing them, in my opinion it should go slower those parts, the percentage of that part is too little comparing of the video.
      Again with all my respect of your knowledge, if you ever do another video, it would be more pleasurable to watch when you give more time the important parts, it is annoying to keep going back and repeat to see what you are doing.
