I'm partial to Gunsmoke's characters as written for radio, as opposed to the way they're portrayed by the TV show. The original Dillon is grouchy the way a guy might be after getting shot at too many times for too many years. Chester eats gargantuan amounts of food and also has a gambling addiction - and unlike his tv counterpart he doesn't have a bad leg. Kitty is as cynical, especially about men, as a woman in her line of work would naturally be. All in all they're a more interesting bunch in this first incarnation.

They produced a show a week for years pretty good dialog
I think Doc dropped Chester on his head when he was born.
Somebody probably did but I don't think it was Doc; Chester was born in Texas.
