The locomotive uses either electric power supply (overhead in this case) or diesel power. Both NJT, LIRR and Metro North use these dual power locomotives in and out of NYC where electrification only exists on a portion of the line.
The ALP-45DP is a dual powered loco meaning that it can switch between electric and diesel. Just like here it switched to diesel after lowering the pantograph since the electrification ends after Dover. NJT does it for a lot of their routes
For the train itself it's definitely a New York Penn-Hackettstown via Morristown regarding the line west of Netcong it's the Lackawanna Old Road to Scranton,PA via Washington,NJ where the old Hampton Branch from High Bridge connects to it. Solution here is bring RVL line to Washington,NJ then Phillipsburg via the Hampton Branch
Why is the ALP-46 heading to the diesel territory 6:00
The tracks are electrified far enough west of dover to allow trains to lay up there instead of having to make the low speed move into the yard.
@@FanRailer but according to google earth there’s no yard for that area, the yard is the other direction of dovrr
You didn’t read my response correctly. I never said there was a yard west of dover.
Sorry, I sometimes have trouble reading
8:32 the worker gets scared by the horn on the lower right

Hello, I am making a ALP-45 n ALP-46 horn mod for TS. Is there any way I can use this audio for it, I can credit you.

6004 sounds pretty good :3
Just so you know I used to be NJT4120 I changed my name thats all. ;)
Cool lol. I figured you might have changed your name
Please could anyone explain me in plain english how a locomotive supposed to be electric powered could move itself with the pantograph lowered down?
The Alp-45dp is both diesel powered and electric powered. So it can switch power modes when needed
Ever heard of dual mode? That's the point of the changeover, it goes from Electric power to diesel power (and vice-versa)
Joao Goncalves it’s a dual mode locomotive, meaning it can run on electric or diesel
