I just bought this for a month. Absolutely love it. Always love the tranx model. Had the 401, 301 and now 151. Fantastic reel. It cast so well , so easy to set up Will bring it for salt water light jigging soon
I had the pleasure of meeting you at the tackle shop last weekend when I brought a few reels in for repair. Thank you for taking the time to share some information with me. I have the TRANX 200 It’s a great reel. Keep the videos coming love the content.
That video would only be a few minutes long. I spray it with reel wash let is sit for a few minutes and then wash it off with a hose and then dry it with a clean rag.
I love Shimano reels! I still have an old Calcutta 200 and 1st gen Curado CU-200. I have yet to see a reel that is as smooth as my Calcutta, but I am pretty interested in giving this new reel a try! It looks interesting. Were you using braid or mono line? Did you have a chance to test it with both and did it behave differently with different types of line on it?
im looking into getting a tranx maybe. could you explain why theres only 3 bearings and why do some have 10 etc. does more bearings mean better smoother?!
Wish I had a good answer for that. I’ll ask some people I know that clean reels for a living and know much more than I do about that and get back to you.
Drag is smoother on the G and the G is made in Japan…other than that in my opinion you’re paying $80 more to say you have a Chronarch 🙃 … I own both of them
For lighter presentations I would try the Curado Mgl 150 it’s the fresh water version of the tranx 150 … just rinse and oil after every trip 🤷🏽♂️… if you’re wanting to try bfs then I would try the curado bfs reel but you would need a ultra light rod …bouyancy from old18 is what I use for bfs
You really care about drag numbers? I never lock down my drag when fishing unless I’m pulling out largies when punching or frogging, but never for saltwater fishing
@@TexasFishingForce that’s true I didn’t think of that cause I only fish for fun. Sometimes I like to use super light gear to fight them as long as possible lol

I wish they made a 501
Absolutely love mine just got it is my new fav

Any time! Thank you and it was great meeting you!
Saw you a few weeks back, trailering your boat down the 288 out of Freeport.
Awesome! Should’ve honked at me, I drive like an old man when I’m zoned out on fishing.
What do you think about posting your cleaning routine right after fishing with your shimano’s? Just getting a Curado DC it would be profitable.

The 150 is my inshore reel of choice. I don't think there is a better choice out there.
Very informative, thanks. How does it compare to the DC technology?
It doesn’t have the dc chip like the dc’s do so that technology isn’t there, but a great conventional reel.

Does it feel as solid and robust as the 300? Or is it more like the 200?
Thanks for the info Mike but I am not a big bait caster fan I use spinning. Reels
Great video!

Which one is the better reel, this one or the Chronarch G ?
I think the G is. Micro module gearing and jdm bearings and .2 oz lighter
Do you use backing on this reel or straight braid I’m using 20lbs braid
I use backing on all my reels. It definitely helps.
Very informative video!
Would u put up against the zillion or mentaniam
No, different game all together
How well will this reel cast lighter jigs, up to 1/4?
I use it often for light jig heads. Works very well.
Do you do reel repair?
I take mine to anglers Anonymous
How does the tranx 150 stack up against the chronarch G?
Drag is smoother on the G and the G is made in Japan…other than that in my opinion you’re paying $80 more to say you have a Chronarch 🙃 … I own both of them
@@Just__A__Machinist In your opinion does one have any advantage casting lighter presentations?

@@Just__A__Machinist I’m not looking to go bfs light, wanting to put together a dedicated casting setup for specs.
@@Just__A__Machinist Most likely will be using a light (4-10lb) rod for artificial’s up to 5/16 oz max

Yeah, on tournament day when I need to crank a 9lb+ redfish in, it’s nice to have.

@@TexasFishingForce Goby is simply too hard, and too manly, for the likes of us drag-adjusting beta anglers!! Why even try…
Hi the worm shaft for line guide is made of plastic? I saw it at the shop the wormshaft for tranx 150 is black colour.
Yes it’s plastic
How does it cast lures under half oz?
It works great, I threw 1/16 with no issues.
@@TexasFishingForce 1/16 th of an oz, come on now that's Exaggeration basically a crappie jig 😂😂
Make a DC model and I'll buy one :)
I wish! I’d buy one too!
I just returned a Curado 150 DC for a second 150 TranX. If you learn how to adjust a reel, the TranX will run circles around a dc reel.
