    Wow this is gold just hearing Miranda's voice again brings back so many memories. I miss this station with a passion. Bay area radio is dead, KKSF, KISS FM all sold out to IHATERADIO. please never take this down.

      Me too. I'm so glad I was in the bay area during that time. I worked in the financial district (Kearny & Sutter) in SF. I had KKSF on for most of my workday in the office.

    I started my undergrad studies at Sonoma State University in September 1989 and there was KKSF to get me through. I was in a bad situation at home and the music on KKSF kept me sane. And happy. I just read up about the folks who made it happen on Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KOSF#HD_Broadcasting). Learned, among other things, the names of "the members of the group responsible for the development of the KKSF concept." And that they searched for "lesser-known imports and hard-to-find, out-of-print selections." I've been trying to re-create my own KKSF channel on Pandora but don't know the artists or the tracks I want aren't available.

    OMG KKSF!!! these letters will permanently be over my heart... I cast my mind back in the late 90s when I was living in the Bay Area. Sundays were special having brunch listening to this magical and wonderful station. Im from Mexico, and every time I go to SFO I have to walk the Golden Gate wearing my headphones and listening to this music that I fortunatelly recorded in some tapes..

    Does anyone remember the DJ who came on at around 10:00 p.m. during the 1985-87 era? I'd like to find a playlist from one of his shows. That guy was great!

    • @gwen1949
      @gwen1949 6 лет назад

      Pixeltrainer It was Steve Feinstein he was the music programmer he mixed a large amount of styles, Jazz Fusion, New Age, River Dance Music,
      like combining Irish music and West African together. He knew how to push music and gave the artist a chance to market their music.
      Where Clear Channel Radio didn’t want that to happen. I really condemned Clear channel for control all of the radio stations nationwide I mean the metropolitan stations.

    • @gwen1949

      But unfortunately Steve passed away I can’t remember which it was a believe with cancer

    I really liked KKSF, KFOG, ALICE and KOIT back in the late 90's early 2K's. The bay area radio selection has gone to CRAP! All i listen to is XM now! If I have to hear FM i listen to 98.1 the breeze.

    • @iamtimfoley
      @iamtimfoley 4 года назад +1

      Back in the mid to late 90's through about 2001, I would listen to the radio all day. SF radio was FULL of great stations. I would frequently listen to Alice @ 97.3, KOIT, Live 105, KKSF, KGO, KCBS etc etc allllllllllll dayyyyyy.

      @@iamtimfoleyAlice@97.3 is still around to this day.
      Alice@97.3: Yeah and I’m still fresh
      Live 105: Second I’m back dude. You can listen to Nickelback everyday now.
      KCBS: I still exist my guy!
      KFOG: I do sports now.
      KGO: Me too.
      KISQ: What’s wrong with me? I like the wind.

    I still have a bunch of tapes of Lights Out shows. Unfortunately, the reception in Hayward wasn't always the greatest. I wish I had cared more about the titles and artists back then because I never wrote any of them down. I have to rely on Shazam now to identify the songs I don't know but it's not always accurate. Btw, I found it curious that even though they played some new age music on Lights Out, they never used the words "new age", at least I never heard it.

    • @cynthiac.9368
      @cynthiac.9368 7 лет назад

      Nope, they never used those words on KKSF.
