    Hello! I had a question of care on my Venus Flytrap. I hope this question doesn’t burden you in any way. My Venus Flytrap does this thing, where after having an insane growth spurt for about a month, it basically dies off and pauses growth as if it’s going dormant for about another month, but it’s not getting the cues for dormancy. Do you have any experience with this behavior?

    • @theflytrapfilms
      @theflytrapfilms  Month ago +49

      Flytraps do grow in flushes and depending on your climate this might be normal, i definitely notice it in colder climates. They also use the energy they gather after the growth spurt to develop flowers and roots etc. as long as it is getting the correct care it will be fine :)

    I suspect we have a long way to go with our understanding of insect intelligence. Especially when one considers that the majority of financial investments are allocated to their destruction. Still I congratulate you on this very interesting series of tests. In addition to a lack of funding there is also the reality that many of us seem to instinctively view them as repulsive. They are, after all, so incredibly different from ourselves that the notion of actually having much to learn from them seems far reaching. Yet perhaps that's our mistake, and their ability to work closely together with what almost appears to be a functioning collective consciousness certainly seems worth further study. Thanks. It was very educational.

    • @theflytrapfilms
      @theflytrapfilms  Month ago +1

      Most carnivorous plants will need alot of sunlight, direct unfiltered sunlight outside, so if you can get them that and rain / distilled / reverse osmosis water, then they should almost all be good and grow well and even recover. look at cape sundews, drosera capensis, they are cool and easy to grow
