    Hey everyone! Thank you for your kind comments!!! Super busy this next couple of days and hanging out with the family, but I will be reading the comments and replying to them through the week. Thank you for the massive support from you all. I hope your weekend is an awesome one and I’ve got a video coming out Sunday morning explaining a project that Agate Dad and I are working on! Until then, stay safe and be the good people you are 😉👍

    I have a question for you on the velcro polishing pads you use in the video. Have you ever tried to use them on a rounded edge of a stone? I bought some after watching this and tried to put a better polish on one of my girlfriends labradorite palm stones. I see to have made the rounded edges worse? Not sure if I need to make an adjustment or if these pads are just meant to be used on flat surfaces. Thanks for any insight. Love your videos

    • @Rookie_Rockounding
      @Rookie_Rockounding  4 года назад +1

      Hey Casey, so definitely these are easier to use on flat surfaces but I have done a rounded one before. It just takes a lot more time because you have to really check that you’ve gotten all over the surface of the curve. It’s doable though. Just make sure before you head on to the next pad that you dry the stone really well, to see if you can see any scratches that are left over from the previous round. I normally rock the curve back and forth and then left and right. It takes a bit more time but so far it’s worked. I hope that helps mate.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!😁 I too find the "process" very peaceful, relaxing and cathartic.😎 Beyond getting to go and experience magnificent locations, we also have the random encounter with someone really nice to share this amazing hobby with! Hi, can you please share what are the instruments you use- for cutting and polishing and also the mask. I really want to start polishing as well. Thank you.

      Hey! Of course 😉 So I use a wet tile saw with a diamond blade to cut, and then I use a variable speed orbital sander/polisher. Kind of like a grinder. I think you can use a grinder actually. Then the pads I use are called diamond polishing pads. I’ll leave a link to a video that explains it a bit better. 😉👍

    Beeaauuttiiful! Now you know......... why I said..... I have never cut a ugly stone. 😉 they all have a beautiful side.
    Agate's can be opalized just like anything else, Jaspers,Carnilon, petrified wood, it all depends on the Celica that's in the stones.
    That's what I've been told anyway.
    They are so beautiful, great job!

    Just found your channel as I’ve been trying to learn more about rock hounding in my area. I found a ton of jasper and I haven’t known what to do with it! I absolutely love the way you cut these. The square shapes with rounded edges and the raw faces showing too. Love you channel! You may not know as much as your idols yet but you have an eye for making the most out of these beautiful gifts from the Earth

      Jojo Brew
      Hey jojo! Sorry late reply!!!
      I think you’re spot on. It’s made from the same stuff as mookaite, Radiolarite. It’s slightly a different shade but pretty much the same beautiful stone. 👌😉👍

  • @rensappeldoorn833
    @rensappeldoorn833 5 лет назад +2

    The stones you didn't know could be mookaite or maybe some kind of opal. Look verry nice.

    • @Rookie_Rockounding
      @Rookie_Rockounding  5 лет назад

      Rens appeldoorn
      Thank you rens, yeah I think (Rhondda and i think) that they’re radiolarite jasper. Which is what the mookaite in Western Australia is made from. And definitely looks like some opal in there but it just doesn’t scratch with chalcedony 🧐🧐🧐 so we don’t know.
