Loved Alien! Film makers and writers should take notice. This is how you make a strong female character! The visuals are definitely amazing and the pace of the movie is great. You do get that claustrophobic feeling from watching the movie and the suspense is top notch! The Alien may not have that much screen time, but when it does appear, it makes sure it uses every bit of it to it's advantage. James Cameron's sequel was also exceptional!! Their bigger budget helped, no doubt. James made a comment that Alien crossed the line when it showed Sigourney Weaver's character Ripley in a skimpy underwear. He's entitled to his opinion, which I respect. I don't think it crossed the line at all. Sigourney herself said that after running around covered in sweat and urine, it would be natural for her to strip down. I always thought that this was the Ridley's way of giving the audience a false sense of relief. A sense that everything is okay and then, ..the Alien strikes!! If you listen to the commentary of Ridley and Sigourney, there was an idea of having Ripley totally naked, with the Alien watching her aroused. A kind of Beauty and the Beast scenario. Could you imagine if they did that? The kind of heat they would get for it today? I think Alien is fine and no scenes should be cut out. I mean, you could make a case that the Kate Winslet scene in Titanic is exploitive, her showing her breasts, or Jamie Lee Curtis's strip tease in True Lies can also be a case. I think people need to chill out and appreciate how great and iconic this movie is. And hey, if James opinion made him make Aliens a better movie, then more power to him. I think that's great. I'd love to see another Alien movie, but where would you go with it? Aliens vs Predator was good, I really enjoyed it. A vs P requiem was just too frustrating to watch. It was so dark you couldn't see anything!! You want to see what the Alien Predator hybrid looked like! I think Alien is a very underrated franchise and is not given the credit it deserves. Keep up the good work Liam! Your videos are awesome!!!
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos mate! I actually didn't know that there was an idea to do a beauty and the beast sort of thing but I'm glad that it didn't go down that road haha! I think that trope has been done to death in the past and it definitely wouldn't have worked as well or fit in with the rest of the film. Would probably have been way too cheesy too! In terms of the Alien franchise, isn't there a new movie already in the works? Maybe it's just a rumour that I heard!

I owe Alien a lot because my favourite video game franchise, Metroid was clearly influenced a lot by it, so I'm very grateful.
I've never really played any of the Metroid games besides the original on NES and the influence is clear to see!

Honestly can’t compare Alien and Aliens. Two fantastic films belonging to two totally different genres. The first will always nip it though
I'm going to give Aliens a rewatch sometime after Halloween, don't know if I'll bother with the rest of the films after that though
