Im a Liverpool fan but i dont hate leeds cause your biggest rival is our biggest rival and when you beat Man U i like it nearly as much as when we beat them
Worth mentioning that in the 70's many of the pitches were like muddy ploughed fields when wet and rock hard when frozen. Elland Road was one of the first grounds to get under soil heating so Leeds were able to play games when other teams matches were called off. One of the most famous games was the brutal 1970 cup final with Chelsea where there was 1 yellow card and no red cards. After a review in 1997, it surfaced that there should’ve been 6 red cards and 20 yellow cards at the very least. ruclips.net/video/v4zntE8oXR8/видео.html It was a very different time and every team had a 'hard man' Tommy Smith for Liverpool Ron 'Chopper' Harris for Chelsea etc. they could play but were intended to stop or 'reduce' skillful passers or very creative players. Also remember that there was only 2 not 3 points for a win at this time.
Thanks Rick, love this comment! Obviously I wasn't born back then so great to hear what it was really like! I'd totally forgotten about that 2 points for a win thing! And I did know about the Chelsea game but forgot to include it!
'Louder than the home fans'......if you want proof, then just watch the game on the 9th Dec. When Leeds will be away at Blackburn. Leeds sold their allocation of about 7,400 tickets in seconds 🙂 And I got two of them 😍
The problem with the Bournemouth match is that a local man lost his life that day. Bournemouth was and is, a town where people moved to in retirement, a somewhat sleepy place with no football history to speak of
Lived in bournemouth at that time and my girl friend worked at one of the only bars open on that evening .she realy liked the Leeds fans and said that they had been all very freindly . It was a bar with live music and always filled with scousers scots and paddies .It was always very raucus but good humered.
The only bar we could get in was run by scousers .The OB came in and accused Leeds fans of setting for to a bin that was on the other side of a massive wall in the beer garden out back Which we couldn't even see it The OB from London created most of theh trouble that weekend They started the riot outside the ground saying people were trying to get in with no tickets The ground wasn't even open at that time
PE School teachers taught you how to foul back in the day without referees seeing it, the odd nudge and dig were a part of the game 😮 Great stream Max, keep up the good work 👍🏻
I didn't know that Norman Hunter was literally one of the first practiced "dirty players" even back in the mid 60s with Jack Charlton. I just read about it tonight. Made me laugh though. Jack Charlton was apparently quite in on it as well! You rarely here that about Jack Charlton. Other Leeds players getting a mention were: Johnny Giles & Billy Bremner. But there were famed monsters from many clubs from that era. I've seen many players decked by blatant punches remain on the field without even a card. Horrific, cynical studs up lunges & it's just a talking to as the victim gets stretchered off. The sixties & seventies were certainly vicious! Not a doubt about it. Another world. The game's utterly changed today because it's simply not possible anymore. Today's "hard men" would tremble if they were somehow transported back in time! But it's also gone too far in the other direction with dirty players looking to get others sent off or carded for anything. The dramatics of today were not there back when. Diving for a penalty, getting an accidental hand in the face & dropping to the floor in agony, teaming up against the ref to get a player carded or sent off, etc. For me, that's as ugly as what used to be. It's ruining the game & it's in every match that involves VAR. Two sides of the same coin!
Been a Leeds supporter since the 60's and the "dirty Leeds" tag was invented by the press. Leeds were no dirtier than most teams but could mix it with the worst if they had to. Teams would turn up thinking they could bully us but Leeds would give it back then play them off the park. The press hated Revie for bringing a more European style of football to England but he was right when you look at football today. I think that, along with some very dodgy treatment by the FA and officials, is where the siege mentality comes from.
Your Trash talking Don revie created the dirty leeds team of the 70s I remember leeds players rolling around the pitch constantly until they got a player booked cloughie was right he told the leeds players to put their medals in the bin because the only reason they got them was by cheating.Well said Cloughie.❤

Leeds (a rugby city) broke all the rules in the 1960s by outplaying the traditional darlings of the media; and they did it in the most outlandish way possible: niggly fouls, time wasting, getting booked in rotation, but also with possession football the likes that had not been seen in England before. They were decades ahead of their time really: pre match gimmicks, sock tags, named tracksuits. Even their dossiers, diets and training were leagues ahead. And the authorities and press just didn't like it. Once this dominance decayed due to woeful decisions by the Leeds board over the 1970s, Leeds fans then had a massive vmchip on their shoulder. They didn't really appreciate the great team Revie created at the time, but craved it when it was gone. In my lifetime Leeds United 1968 to 75 and Liverpool 77 -84 were the best sides of the pre premier league era, even though Leeds never won the European Cup. Their problem was trying to take on three trophies every season with a meagre squad, and some baffling refereeing decisions which seemed (ironically some would say) to go against them. They may not be the most hated club these days, but the fact is that the side Revie created are still one of the most talked about half a century later.

2 years top flight football in 30?.. Maybe a good idea to do some research before commenting
Don't really give a toss tbh tjose who hate us aren't as well supported home or away and don't complain when we fill their away ends every week
Anyway I thought Millwall had that honour lol 😅😅😅😅
