"L'œuvre en scène" is a unique format that invites visitors to take the time to look at an antique, a painting, a drawing, an objet d'art or a sculpture from all angles.
For one hour, the work, installed on the auditorium stage, is analysed and deciphered live by a specialist.

This fabulous model in wood, mother-of-pearl and ivory, lined with fleurs-de-lis, has been added to the collections of the Louvre's newly-created Department of Byzantine and Oriental Christian Art. It simulates, in miniature, the experience of a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem: for whom exactly could this object, made in Palestine to be sent to Europe, have been intended? And precisely for what purpose?

Surpris dès le début par cette foison de fleurs de lys sur cet exemplaire de la collection du Louvres, et voyant la fin de la conférence arriver, je redoutais de n'en point avoir l'explication... Mais la période supposée d'exécution renvoyant au Grand Siècle, je me doutais que Louis XIV était de la partie... Merci de l'avoir confirmé. Joli suspense !
