I am a child of the 60s, a wonderful time to be a kid. You’d be roaming the neighborhood all day and parents never knew when you were, other than the tell-tale sign of everyone’s bike laying in someone yard. I had the Creepy Crawlers (still do and I play with it with my grandson) - yes you burned yourself a few times but it taught you a lesson. Matchbox cars, Hot Wheels, GI Joe, Jarts, the list goes on.

So true, except I had Barbie. I also had a Western Flyer bike that beat all the other kids with their banana seat bikes. Fave times? Playing outside after dark without a care in the world. Best decade to grow up in!

There were also so many sidewalk and street games; we had Punch Ball, Skelly (which was primarily played by boys as well as Stick Ball), Stoop ball, Hopscothch, Hide-n-Seek, Red light/Green light, Hit the Penny, Hoola Hoop contests, etc. There were games that only girls played such as Alphabet Chant where you went through the alphabet while bouncing a ball and each time you said a word with the letter of the alphabet you were up to you crossed you leg over the ball...the first girl to get through the entire alphabet without any mistakes won the game. There was a game called Russian Ten which was also played with a ball. Everyone's rubber ball of choice was a Spalding until the Pensy Pinky came along.

Born in 1950, this was the peak of my youth. The 60's were great and aweful at the same time. 1955 to 63 were the best of times, but it all changed in November of 63. We went from innocence to shock in every part of our culture. I bore witness to cruelty and the rise of discontent as war and the struggle for racial equality were pitted against national values. As kids, both black and white, we bonded stronger than ever through music. Ike & Tina, Aretha, Sam & Dave, Marvin, Isley Bro, Wilson Picket, Otis, Little Stevie, The Supremes were the salve that soothed our worried souls. Yes, we had our white brothers and sister entertainers, but they never excited us as much as the soul music. I am grateful that I got to see them all live at the Coconut Groves in Miami. In the early 70's we got on the Love Train and stayed until it ran off the tracks. I'll be 74 in February, I truly miss those days. I long for peace and brotherhood in an America that is falling apart. You are the heart and soul of that, Jamal. You remind me of those times. Bless you.

I'm 72, and must've grown up a few counties north of you. What you remembered about bonding through the music (and dances) was so true! I remember in the mid-1960's going with a friend to see James Brown live at the old West Palm Beach Civic Auditorium. He was such a great showman! The place was packed that night. I looked around, and I think my friend and I were the only two white girls in the place! But no matter, a good time was had by all, rocking and swaying to "Poppa's Got A Brand New Bag", lol! Wouldn't trade those memories (and many more) for anything! 😊

I turned 16 in 1960. I walked just over a half mile to a Catholic school in the 50’s, but the day after school let out for the summer, I was at my Grandparents’ farm. The best of both worlds. On Chicago’s Southside, I owned a BB gun at the age of 10, while Gramps gave me a single shot 22, a real gun, at the age of 9. I can remember when White Castle hamburger was $0.07 and a pack of cigarettes was $0.21. I was very fond of penny candy. In fact, you could buy 3 pieces of Michigan cherries, a small round red confection just a bit larger than a marble, for one penny. Being a few years older than most boomers, I smoked my first joint in ‘68 while my 10 years younger brother lit up in ‘67. Just to present contrast, as I watch your channel and comment on my IPad.

I was born in 1948 so this video flooded me with memories. As a teen my dad always walked on the side next to the road when walking down the street. He would also pull my chair out at supper. So I expected that from my young boyfriends and yes of course the young men had the same manners. Aw it was GREAT!

The freedom we had as kids growing up in the 60s was unimaginable. Summers we spent all day swimming at the YMCA, riding bikes, playing kickball, baseball, basketball, kick the can, exploring a nearby pasture on foot, bike, & horseback, playing in the creek. And there was a week of Vacation Bible School. A neighbor invited us & provided transportation there & back home. Your neighbors were trustworthy & looked out for us. And when it was scorching hot we chilled indoors & played Monopoly, or played records, or watched The Big Show & reruns of Gilligan's Island. After the sun went down we would resume our outdoor activities.
And I also remember how glorious the sun felt walking to school in the spring...we would beg to walk to school because we always had mom or a grandparent drive us, but we wanted to rejoice with Nature after the cold subsided. And speaking of cold, when it snowed we played out in that all day too! Sledding, building snowmen, snow forts, having snowball fights, making snow cream & we'd watch the weather at night praying school would be closed the next day!

Buying a roll of caps (which were the ammo-like things you put in the cap guns) was fun even without loading it into a cap gun. You could just unroll it, then take a rock and hit one of the spots on the roll, and it would make a tiny explosion.

I was a teenager during the 60's and rules were followed and if not there were consequences. We did not want to lose our freedom to be with friends or go to movies or just hang out. It was more business oriented rather than today's generation that have put entertainment in the forefront. I do believe the 60's kids had it so much better.

I was born in the 60's and I love that time but if I had a choice of what era to be stuck in it would be the 1970's. I LOVE the 70's! I'm 60 years old and the changes are many and most not for the best. Our children today are out of control, self centered, they won't work, they don't listen and they show NO respect to anyone. I miss the music, disco, clothes and just the era in general. Thank you Jamel for doing this video. It was most enjoyable!

I'm 71 and grew up in West Palm Beach, FL. In the 60's my dad would let me take his shotgun and go dove or quail hunting by myself. I walked about half a mile from the house along the highway with the gun over my shoulder and nobody thought anything about it. Could you imagine what would happen today if someone saw something like that?

Born in 1958, I remember all of this. Walking to school with friends was so much fun! My favorite Swanson TV Dinner was the Fried Chicken meal. I watched Bonanza every Sunday night. Going to the drive-in movie theater with our parents felt like a special treat. I also played with Silly Putty. Now, there were some events going on at the time that weren't so pleasant, but I cherish the joyful ones. Good one, Jamel!

I'm 62 born in 1961 and I couldn't be more grateful for the wonderful, active, social childhood I had. A teen in the 70's was THE BEST! The 80's in my 20's all great... I guess everyone thinks their era was the best, but I wouldn't change a thing about being alive in the 60's and 70's.... and yes Jamal, DISCO SUCKS! LOL!!!! give me Hendrix, Zepplin, Bowie etc., all day long ... but we still went to the disco's for the social aspect, however the concerts back then were unreal!!!! five dollars and they'd play for 3 hours!!!!!!

I was born in 1960 so, I grew up with all this, it was a different world, much more friendly and nicer in many ways. Not everyone had a home telephone so, if you wanted to see a friend you'd have to walk to their house to see if they were in, if they weren't, you'd ask if their parents knew where they were, then you would walk there to find them, if you did you'd then play outside, there were very few overweight kids (or adults for that matter) then, there wasn't as many cars around either particularly during work hours. I'd live in the '70s for sure, the music was great, life wasn't too commercial yet and most people had good manners.

A friend and I were discussing the old Jell-O flavors the other day. They had at least 4 flavors that were marketed as Jell-O for Salads. They were Mixed Vegetable, Celery, Seasoned Tomato, and Italian Salad. My mom utilized them in several recipes that weren’t bad. I think they were phased out in the early 1970s, if I’m not mistaken.

I remember most of this stuff. I was a kid in the 60s and a teenager in the 70s. When I was nine I attended a school that was 15 miles from home, and would ride there on two commuter trains each way with my sister. Hard to imagine today.

I remember boys walking on the “outside “ next to the road, so if a car came up onto the sidewalk they would get it and the girl would be ok, so many sweet things boys did to make us feel better back then. And things we did to make them feel special, I miss those days, going on dates, real dates, not finding a place to have sex. I don’t know anyone who goes on dates anymore.

Sure you walked to school, but back then you knew everyone in your neighborhood. You knew and were welcomed in every house on your block, and on just about every block you knew a few of the families who lived there, people looked out for one another. Most houses had stay at home moms so you had surrogate moms on every block. These days people are lucky to know the next door neighbor.

There were Blue Star homes, too, when more mothers were at home. They were safe houses if a child was being followed, or needed help.
Mom was alarmed when my brother said he stopped at a blue star home on the way home.
He just needed to use the bathroom.

1960 here… we moved from Virginia to southern Arizona by the time I was seven or eight. We didn’t know any different when I came to doing chores. my oldest sister did the heavy duty stuff, middle sister, and myself clean the rest.
My parents had a crew three daughters before my little brother showed up. That house was never really dirty, except for maybe cleaning up wrapping paper from the Christmas piles we got.
We lived in a really large subdivision with a pool, so we joined the swim team. There was no mom or dad needs to pick you up. You either took the sidewalk or if it wasn’t a busy golf day run across the course fast as you could. Mom worked in a bank, and from what she taught me at 63 years old I can honestly say I have never bounced a check. Don’t spend what you don’t have!
High school years were either babysitting for money, or actually finding a job that paid more.
I’ll tell you what the one thing that my mom taught me was not too overspend. So basically what I was doing while babysitting was if I wanted to buy something save up for it but also at the same time take half the money I did make and put it in the bank

I was born in 1949 and growing up with my childhood in the’50’s and playing on an acre lot in the SFV in So Cal… in 61 we moved to the north west SFV. We had orange groves and undeveloped rolling hills to ride our bikes, later dirt motorcycles… it was the best.
I was warned not to even speak to any strangers, no matter what they said. And if someone offered you candy…. Run to a person of authority as fast as possible! Wonderful.
No backpacks until the 70’s and they were called book-bags, not backpacks

Hey Jamel. Happy New Year! I'm 73 now and I was born in 1950 so I remember all of the things on this video. My grandmother was born in 1896 and she taught us that when a man and woman were walking together, the man should always walk on the street side. She said this came from the days of the horse and carriage when you would sometimes get splashed with mud from the passing horse-driven vehicle. The man would take the brunt of the splash and protect the woman from harm. I'm sure this sounds old-fashioned and sexist now, but at the time this was considered correct. We walked to school and never had a problem with it. We had a small black and white TV and didn't mind. We would listen to AM music stations on our little table radio and suffer through all the commercials and DJ chatter without complaint. We were not allowed to answer the telephone during dinner because that was considered family time. No voice mail, no call waiting, no caller ID. we were told that if the call was important, they would call back. I enjoyed this video and your reaction. Keep up the great work. Peace.

And collecting pop bottles to get money for candy. Finding a nickel or dime was great but finding a quarter: woo hoo! I'm rich!

I'm a 60's kid. We never locked our doors when we went to bed or when we went out. I had many toys that would be shunned today for being dangerous but you learned how to work with them without ever getting hurt. I remember being 2 yrs old and walking over to a friends house that was a couple blocks away without adult supervision. You knew where you friends were all at by all the bikes laying out front of someone's house. I'm really not sure which era I would want to go back to permanently, the 60's or the 70's. The 60's were great for my preteen years and the 70's were great for my teen years...hard choice to make

@@gaildevaney6074 My mom usually made ham or beef flavors. They tasted great and as a kid I was always looking forward to see what new thing she would put in it. She made them with love and I’m sure you would agree anything made with love tastes great. I have fond memories of my mom’s meals. I don’t know how she did it with such little money, but I always enjoyed our family meals made with her love. I only had a little problem with the texture. One of my first memories was when we received a Christmas canned ham from our church and I ate some of it along with the jelly. It must have been bad, my mother usually cooked it first but I got to it first. I was sick for a long long time. So, to this day I have a hard time eating anything jellied sweet or savory. I find the texture to be a little gross. But her gelatin dinners always tasted great and made me feel loved.

I was born in 1960, and to address younger kids walking to school alone, first of all, adults would have never, ever, worn anything but hard shoes, like loafers, tie dress shoes or boots. Grown me typically wore button up shirts and dress pants, with many wearing a full suit and tie as normal everyday attire. We all had a very good sense of awareness and if an oddball creepy was within two blocks, we noticed. Now go through all of these nostalgia videos again and notice that there were rarely, if any, people with weight issues and every last one of us could scramble, run, jump, climb and and crawl over or under anything in a split second. Now the creepies blend right into the crowd because there's just no telling the good guys from the bad guys and, to compound the problem, the physical education programs in public school is just horrible and the garbage they serve the little guys for lunch should be illegal. There was also very little chance of being "bullied" because we all stood our ground and there was no honorable teacher that would punish two guys for slugging it out. They'd let you fight for a few minutes, break it up and, send you on your way, no detention, no turning it into a police issue, no councilors, no CPS or reprimand whatsoever. So, today? Its the politicians that have turned our children into defenseless prey by failing to instill physical discipline, keeping fit and eating healthy. Then there's the FDA, the biggest enemy of school children, that will allow anything you can imagine to be added to our food, as long as it saves or makes a buck. But I digress... in the 60's there's just no way a creepy was ever going to catch a kid. We were like cats and no grown ass man in hard shoes was going to have any chance. A grown man in sneakers? Everybody for miles would have noticed and run him out of the neighborhood.

Almost 70 born in 54. My husband always walks between me and the street and still opens doors for me. He also always sits in a restaurant facing the door so he can see if anything is a cause of concern.
One of our neighborhood fathers worked at a zoo on weekends, another worked security at the Atlanta stadium as an off duty cop during baseball games. Another dad worked at an amusement park. We got to go to the baseball games, zoo and amusement park free and we all piled into the bed of a pickup truck to get there. We stayed outside until the street lights came on cause it was understood you went home when the street lights came on. We piled into cars and stuffed people into trunks of cars to go to the drive-in. Those were the days.
We walked to school and were never afraid. Most of the mothers were stay at home moms and all of them kept their eyes open watching all kids walking to and from school. Back then you knew your neighbors and the people along your route you were like a village watching out for each other. People that didn't even have kids watched out for all the kids.
We walked to the store everyday after school. We would collect soda bottles along the way to cash in for enough to get a candy bar and a coke.
I started babysitting when I was 13 for the kids in my sub-division. When we turned 16 we were expected to get a part time job after school and work the summer full time if possible. I had to pay for gas for my car, repairs and I had to save up to even buy my car which was old and used. I was also expected to buy clothes, purses, makeup etc for myself unless it was Christmas, beginning of a new school year or my birthday. Parents carried their kids to their jobs until they were able to purchase a car. Kids were not given things right and left. The kid either worked for something or they were gifted it on special occassions. I never got anything just because I wanted it.
Westerns were not just for boys. I lived for westerns. I loved John Wayne. I use to pray that someday I would find out that I was adopted and he was really my dad. My room was decorated with pictures of my boy crushes from Tiger Beat.

The Jello fad didn't use flavors of today it was just simply flavorless gelatin that suspended whatever was added to it. The drive-in was my favorite memory, we had a stationwagon and my parents would take a car load of neighbor kids and lawn chairs every weekend. I remember intermission, the screen would show the food available and that the movie would continue in x amount of minutes, simpler times for sure.

Born in 61. My family was relatively poor, but we kids didn't know it at the time. My brother had a Creepy Crawler set and, yes, we got burned, but it was great fun. Lived out on the boonies (still do) and wandered the woods, fields, and riverside all day, splashed in the streams, fished, picked berries and skated in their seasons. Swanson's TV dinners were a great treat, but my Aunt Jean's jello salad was not.
People hitch-hiked back then. I remember my mother would frequently pick up sailors hitch hiking from Rt. 95 to Quonset, the local Naval base, and drive them as far as we were going, to help them reach their goal.
Spankings were a thing- parents, teachers, even neighbors if they thought you were up to no good. Bare handed, a belt, an electrical cord, a ruler, and a cherry branch switch (my mum's favorite) were all employed against a bare bottom. Looking back, I can honestly say I wasn't a bad kid, and as I grew older I realized that a lot of folks have anger issues!
Aside from politics, right now is my favorite time to live- DDT is no longer in use, Narragansett Bay has been (mostly) cleaned up, the Cuyahoga river isn't on fire, and southern New England, where I am, now has breeding populations of bear, beaver, and coyotes.

You don't remember Silly Putty?? Bless your heart! The stuff was cheap, didn't make a mess, could be used over and over. You could stretch it and roll it into a ball or roll it like a snake or, whatever. And as I mentioned, no mess. You could get a whuppin' from getting Play Doe in the rug, but no such problem with Silly Putty. Using it to copy the comics (backwards) was one of the funnest things. Go buy you some and play with it. Most stores have it in the kid's toys, not matter how small the store.
Very interesting!!! I grew up in the 1960's, and Thank God I never had to deal with any Jello molds unless they were made with fruit. I could not deal with that nasty peas and carrots one. BTW, unflavored gelatin was available for whoever thought savory foods and vegetables were could in gelatin, or as they used to call it, aspic.

Born in 69. I recall some of these things in the mid to late 70s. Such as wind up watches. Walking to school by myself which lasted into the 80s. TV dinners, and black and white TVs without remote control. No such thing as cell phones. Only had one phone in the the house, and rarely able to use it for long talks with friends. It was a different time than it is today, for sure.
It felt great for me to grow up in that time period, and I would say that I am happy that I did. I really can't see myself growing up in the world today.

We had seven kids in our family growing up on a farm and we walked one mile to our bus stop every day. Snow days were unheard of, and I was in three school bus accidents and one of them had a student fatality after our school bus was hit by a sliding out of control state snowplow truck.

Born in 61, cars didn't have seat belts and in the arms of the doors was ashtrays with little lids and gown ups could smoke anywhere, in the house, in the car, in the store, in the restaurants, in the doctors office, anywhere but church.
My mother use to make that vegetable jello thing, the first time I saw it I thought it was weird but kind of awesome - until I tried it - it wasn't jello it was gelatine, no sugary goodness, just pure evil and I refused to eat it anytime or anywhere I saw it, oddly it was popular.
From the what the hell were the thinking toy department was lawn darts and clackers
The lawn darts we tried to throw them as high in the air as we could get them, a lot of fun going up but not so much fun as a 1ft dart came back and you were the target, you learn to move fast.
The clackers were two glass balls at the opposite ends of a string, hold the sting in the middle and then try to smash them against each other, the faster the better - until you missed - my wrist use to go numb with the pain, they flew like a frisbee pretty good.
Not sure if I had a fun childhood or I'm just a survivor.

I loved growing up in the 60s and 70s. Best time to be a kid. I started working at 12, babysitting and also picking produce on a farm. You could do a paper route or bring a shovel or lawn mower around the neighbourhood and earn cash shoveling snow or mowing lawns. We had Kool Aid stands. We were little entrepreneurs. Collecting bottles from the ditches along the road and taking them back to get the deposit.
Kids now are depressed and on meds all the time. We don't teach them to go higher. we cater to them and let them stay unskilled and just shoved in a corner to play, but we had a balance of work and play. Our parents didn't coddle us to death. I'm all for hugs and love and being kind and generous and loving, but kids also need to learn how to function in society so they can live happy lives later, and these kids are being short-changed in that department. I'm sad to see it.

I was born in 1950 a wonderful time to grow up in.I remember playing with silly putty . I got my first Barbie doll for my 9th birthday . During the summer we would play outside with our friends till it was time to come in for dinner. Some days I would walk to the library so I could read books all day. I still love to read. My Mom loved music so if she was home we would dance and listen to the radio most of the day. Times were very different then we could go all around town exploring, the local walk in theatre cost .10 cents a lot of times I would go there with my older sister my Mom or Dad would drop us off and come back later to pick us up. It was a great time . Happy New Year’s everyone stay safe .

1968 I was six years old and had to walk almost a half a mile to school. all you needed to do was find a couple soda/pop bottles and you could get a lot of candy for a dime. I still remember my dad bought a dart board and he grabbed me and my brother and told us how dangerous they were and stuck the point in our palms as proof. we never touched the darts after that..
We use to camp a lot and I remember my parents watch the war on TV and my mom would start crying thinking we would grow up and go to war and not come home..
It was my father that told me I had to clean my plate before leaving the table. I would have to wait till he left and my mom would take the plate away..a dollar went a long way back then..
we had a dinner triangle my mom would use to call us in for supper..McDonalds was a big thing back then and only went once or twice a month.
passing time, marbles, building forts, riding bikes over ramps, climbing trees, playing army, or cowboys and indians, catching fire flies, flying kites..it's the 70s I would return to in a heartbeat..
Lets not forget duck and cover drills at school hiding under our desk against a nuke lol..
Times are different now and most of my family is gone..grandparents died in the 80s, my father in 2015 and my mother in 2022.

I grew in the 60's here in Canada and walked to school everyday from 6 years old onward. No matter what weather and it could go down to -40C in the winter. We would also walk on the tops of the piled up snow along the street . There were a lot less cars back then as well.
I do remember meeting a lot of draft dodgers during the Vietnam war. A lot of them ended up marrying Canadian girls and stayed in Canada.
    Drive-ins were great fun.

A lot of this stuff I grew up with, but in the 80s-90s. I walked to school, with a paper lunch bag. BMX, G.I. Joe, BB Guns, sister had a kids oven (forget what it was called) and various other "toys" you can burn yourself with. Merry-go-rounds, metal slides, playground spring riders, monkey bars, ect. All these could mess you up man. I also went to the Drive In often, or watched from a friends house on his roof. We could jack the audio signal but the cars there were loud as well. Yep, I had Silly Putty too, but we also had Green Slim and we watched You Can't Do That On Television. I also ate TV Dinners, cooked in the oven, that my working mom left for us. I also ate that jello, but grandma didn't go that crazy with it. Mostly just fruits and other sweet stuff inside. Collected the cans and bottles. Did the paper route as well.
Safe to say, some things stayed the same. At least for me and mine.
No draft for war though. Phew.

The only time I didn't walk to school was the 18 months we lived in an outer suburb of our new small WV town. Everyone rode the bus. The high school kids walked out to the end of our sub-division, but the elementary kids waited in the driveway of a particular house where we could get out of the rain in their carport. If we were running late, we could wait in our own driveway, but the bus driver would give you grief over it. I did get a ride to high school with my parents because they drove right past the school every morning & if I took the bus I would be waiting alone at the end of the neighborhood with no covered shelter. I did take the bus home daily.

We also had 50 cent pieces, half dollars as well as quarters. I remember Before there was a McDonalds. A&W baby burgers, Mama burgers and Papa Burgers. A mug of root beer in a chilled mug for a nickel and a large mug for a dime and the car hops brought it to your car with tray that hung from your car window. Cute girls were the car hops and they got the tips.

Just a bit of perspective as to the prices of things back then...my first job at a store in 1969 , paid a whopping $1.65 an hour. I ran across a paystub once and had to laugh. I remember gas being 28 cents a gallon, and I could fill up my Pinto (that was around 1971) for under $5. Cigarettes were 35 cents a pack then, too, and people went nuts when the price increased over time to close to 50 cents! lol
The 60s and 70s had the best mix of music from all genres on ALL the radio stations...we got pop, R&B, rock, soul, country. I think the only styles on their own stations might have been classical and jazz! FM took the whole thing to another level, with full cuts played from albums...loved that! ❤🎵🎶❤

I walked to school when I was 6 yrs old. I was always taught and scared to death in to not talking or going with strangers. A lot of us had to walk through an underpass under a highway. There was a square hole at the end it obviously had some big leaves in it, but at our ages we thought it was a “Green Hand”. It was so scary. We used to see it and screem and run. Yep, we were pretty independent. I usually walked with my little friend Michael. His young Father died of a heart attack and he didnt walk with me for a long time. My older brother was in the Vietnam War. We used to see people come to our classroom and talk to the teacher and a classmate would be taken out. It always scared me and probably all of us. We were just taught to be aware of our surroundings. I missed my brother and glad to say he made it! He lost his left eye, but he made it home!!! Different times. Fun times and very free times. I had wonderful parents.

Two young men from my town died in Vietnam. One was my sister's best friend in high school. I remember how she acted when the news hit,and felt really sorry for her.
My uncle's stepson went over, and, did come back, uninjured, but, that changes a person.
He won a Purple Heart, and, the paper had articles about some of the brave things he did.
He called my grandfather, and asked him to make some homemade ice cream, the frozen custard type.
      Grandad said, " I would, but I don't have a freezer,anymore."
He commented about that poor kid,in the jungle, thinking about Pappy's homemade ice cream.
Jim called back in a half an hour, and, said that he had two hand cranked freezers, that he'd borrowed from friends.
Grandad said, " Bring them over, and, I'll make you some ice cream."
We called my other aunt, and, she and my two cousins came over, and, I got my friend from a few houses down, and,we just made a party of it.

In rural America you rode a bus to school. Couldn't wait to get older so you could drive and that was high school and yes, they were hand-me-down cars. And we got our bank accounts in grade school for allowance and if in 4-H, you had to pay for expenses and things like that so you had to keep track of it all. Childhood playground equipment was pretty much an obstacle course. We had to see everything in person like movies, bands, concerts, etc. I got to see the first Star Wars movie at a drive-in, wonderful experience being outside watching an outer space movie. Play Doh and so many things that aren't out now, even pet rocks and Barbie dolls. We all at meals together as well and didn't have a TV dinner in rural America. Grew your own food so we grew our own gardens. Still have a 1950s Betty Crocker cookbook, and no we didn't do jello. Westerns, Star Trek, Jetsons and so many shows on TV. Also the neighbors got together for parties like pitch and picnics and things so had a good time with friends. Minimum wage was $2 something if that much so yeah, and you worked for that money. My favorite era was the 1970s, I think everyone loves their teen/20s years.
