I really liked Asphalt 8 on the iPhone years ago, although I only played it for a little bit. I recently got Apple One (because of the Neil Young / Spotify thing) and tried this game on my iMac, and must say I've been having hours of fun with it so far! I tried Asphalt 9 too, thinking it might be even better, but that was a clusterf*** of gamification. I got literally dizzy with all the flashing and moving elements, and I didn't have time to ponder what something meant until something entirely different flashed before my eyes and presented yet another gamified element of the game. Points, rewards, trading cards, etc. etc. Quickly deleted, and back to 8+ for me.
Such a bummer that this version isn’t available as a standalone title. Asphalt always had this premium feeling for me, wouldn’t mind spending a couple bucks for a game that doesn’t require that much IAP spending for being enjoyable, just like they did with Modern Combat 5 on the Switch.
3:58 Good lord. I've been enjoying the arcade version so much that this screen sent a shudder down my spine. THIS IS AWFUL! :o Arcade is really showing it's colors. Been enjoying this game an absurd amount.
Yes I always thought Gameloft was a gambling and ad company first, game development company second, but Airborne plus changed my views, it's the best racing game on entire App Store. I hope CSR does something similar as they don't even let you play more than 2 races without forcing ads.
It’s good to know the current asphalt 8 prices were massively inflated and made unfair. Back then when it was around 2016-2018 when I played the game, prices were still relatively ok compared to the freemium updates
I’m so glad they did 8 instead of 9 if I’m honest 8 was a way better game back in the day compared to 9 now and the fact it’s a lot like how it was back then makes me happy
I'm more Adventure/RPG/Puzzle it seems but thanks for always being on top of this. I'm off to try Baldo and keep questing in Fantasian2. BTW @MrMacRight I'm having lost of stability issues with Fantasian2 on my MacMiniM1, are you having the same issues?
I've had that on my M1 Mac as well (esp. during combat). After a reboot, things have been better, but I still save whenever I can out of habit now. There are certain types of games that I just prefer to play on a computer; I wouldn't have the same experience with Fantasian on my phone.
I’ve hit a wall unfortunately. I can’t make enough cash to get better cars and can’t win new races. Can’t find a guide on how to earn lots of money. Thanks for the video. Best wishes.:)
Real racing is good, and close to real world racing. I like A8 better, which requires you to well control on the nitro, doing crazy stunts and multiplayer mode.
cool. hoping these guys make a proper burnout type racing game, no live service, just a flat our, amazing arcade racer that would make old era criterion cry in joy
I start to see the value of Apple Arcade now, bringing the old classic or popular games to Arcade and remove all monetization bring back the good old day where we pay the game and start grinding everything in the game without paying any in app purchases
I mean, I feel like the ‘+’ games are a fine inclusion as it’s cheap and easy for Apple to do and helps grow the library while also getting rid of the awful F2P mechanics of some of those games. But to me, if Arcade isn’t going to continue its early promise of releasing quality indie or AAA like titles to the library then it’s just a really bland service, imo. Especially since I own all of the premium + games they’ve brought. I mean, I like that gamers like yourselves find value in this and it owns up more diversity of games as well as grow the amount of subscribers; I just feel Apple should not turn its backs on the core group that signed up for Arcade in the beginning based on the promise I just talked about.
@Quang They promised to bring more AAA type(non freemium, more depth in story/gameplay) games to Arcade but not the big AAA console ones. Arcade launched in 2019 and it seems like Apple to keeping that promise firstly by having all they AA games non freemium

There have been absolutely brilliant indie games full of creativity and art that I find more enjoyment out of then consoles or pc over the past 6 years I’ve been an iOS premium gamer. Apple Arcade I was skeptical about at first, but I have to admit they help bring games to the service that probably never would have come otherwise (FANTASIAN, INmost, Atone, Jenny LeClue, Neo cab, mutazione, beyond a steel sky, earth night, sayonara wild hearts, the Pathless, the collage atlas, manifold garden, beyond blue, etc. to list some of my more favorite games on Arcade). And I do feel they’ve still brought some cool indie games like Populus run, Nuts and hitchhiker earlier I’m the year, I feel like Apple has gone back on their initial promise/business model to release creative indie games on the platform and are now focusing in more casual, quick play based games. And it’s getting kind of old lately, I want to see some more high quality adventure games. I feel like they’ve added so many games to the library to suit everyone’s genre preference. But I’m also happy to see great devs and publishers (like Annapurna) continue to bring AAA type games to iOS (Edith finch). Since AA launched on iOS I’ve literally found myself having more games to play than I can make time for, and that’s a good thing. Prior to that, it was basically wait every few mo this until that really great premium game dropped and that occupied your time for a bit. So all in all, AA has been a huge success for iOS premium gamers and the platform itself. I just hope they don’t forget their roots.
What’s that game called? Sci-fi space shooter game where your inside the spaceship and shooting recklessly? I watched that list of games on your channel but I can’t remember what it was?
They just released online play and it sucks they say you can use any car but the races are not set up to put you in a race with compatible cars when I started I was looking forward to using any car I got this game to race online but I was using the Developer sixteen prototype an S class car and I was racing against D class cars and as soon as I leveled up it’s hard to find races and I don’t want to have to use my fastest car every time I like cars in every class so the online play needs a lot of work again I don’t want to have to use my fastest S class car every time I was looking forward to online play and it has made me not want to play
Anyone know what the AppleMusic Integration does? I can't find anywhere in the menu after enabling it that allows me to play my own music. There are just two radio stations for EDM or Bass?
I hope with all my heart that this version is available on android, I prefer to pay for the game and not have all that micro transaction shit to play and get frustrated for seeing so many invasive micro transactions and ads on my face every second
6:31… I meant to say 20,000, not 20!
They just deleted 6 years of price update on game! back in 2016 prices were same compare to todays new game ! im dissapointed!
So glad that Gameloft finally made a non-pay2win version of this game. Keep these videos up!

Thank you for the very comprehensive video. I will definitely play Asphalt 8. Cheers mate.
