Monster Hunter is proof that for as much as humanity has civilized, sometimes the most invigorating thing is to return to our roots, make an oversized weapon, look at the biggest meanest animal in the distance, and decide that you want to turn it into a rug.

Monster Hunter for me was an amazing experience that i was glad to come across.
When I got my first nintendo switch and I still have it, I first played mh gu and i started to play playing greatsword for the first time, I did thought it was slow but the more I played with it it grew on me and I fell in love with the weapon and had a splendid amount of hours in that game especially when I got to fight my favorites like nargacuga, Zinogre, Lagiacrus, gore magala, even the flagship valstrax, and Glavenus and Brachydios. it was very satisfying to enjoy the series. After gu I went with mh world and Iceborne and even rise and sunbreak and I even started playing older games freedom unite, 3u and 4u, and portable 3rd. I've gotten a best friend of mine into the series funny enough and he's been enjoying the series and me and him are also looking forward to mh wilds when it releases on late February.
I've always enjoyed the series dearly since as a kid, I've always enjoyed dinosaurs and dragons in my childhood which that series brings me more of that childhood memories for me with all the different monster species and mechanics for these monsters of how they work and operate always fascinated me for the series

I know you said to take a weekend to sit down and play the games to finally get it, however, I finally understood what it meant to hunt during the beta of Wilds. Experiencing that game was truly bliss. Finally understood what it meant to be a Hunter after my 40 minute Rey Dao hunt that I carted twice on, came in unprepared, had a dual blades guy join for the last 5 minutes, and somehow won. At that moment, I was hooked. Can’t wait for Wilds

Nothing gets a monster hunter going than a good meal, getting a lot of preparation, gathering tracks a nice big old weapon to beat up monsters on, having a lot of walls that you can conquer, playing with friends, showing off how cool you are in the newest attire, and just being absolutely addicted to it.

I remember in my first successful hunt against Iceborne Fatalis, me and two randoms wouldn't get to safety from his fire cone and i accepted that this was a failed run
That was how i learned breaking both horns stops it being a one shot.

I think another really good thing about the series is how easy it is to get into. I’ve only played world so far, but I didn’t feel lost at all. What really helped with that was the community. Most were very welcoming and gave me a lot of good advice. Nobody acted elitist because they joined the series earlier, they just passed on their knowledge to help me.

Long time monster Hunter and souls player, charge blade user, favorite boss of all-time is Fatalis… Yeah this guy is a giga Chad

4:40 Regarding this point, the one game you (rightfully) called the black sheep of the souls series, Dark Souls 2, has a feature to mitigate that. You could burn a resource to fight a boss and all of the minions on the lead-up again.

Also, at 5:46 and on, what charge blade is that?

The replayability is soo freaking true even with the old entries. After all these years of playing MH games, i developed specific itch of playing which kind of entry i want to play, one day i would love to return to the game i started and i just booth up my old psp and play MHP3. Other day i want to swim around and slash sea monsters in MH3U and sometimes i just want to go to hell and fight plesioth or gypceros in Freedom unite or play with my friends in Iceborne. This franchise is soo perfect

3 things make MH the most addictive game ever for me:
    - The combat, it's "weapon class" system literally the top, Souls games feels so basic and simple on comparison.
Take an example of early Souls games vs early MH which share very similar slow pacing and wait-for-enemy combat - I recently played DS1 and couldn't finish it because of how boring the combat is, and the evil level design and small enemies are way harder than those clunky bosses. Attacks are simply heavy and light and 2 kicks, but you also can't even fight 2 skeletons at once with the tiny stamina bar (you literally out of breath after 2 swings), and can't even dodge because of the ledges or enemy block your way. They really improved it a lot with Ashes of War and magic systems in ER
    - Bosses, and ability to keep farming them, the design and thoughts put into every creature is so good, they are like prehistoric fantasy animals that living breathing and will run away when you endanger their lives, with strong and weakness you exploit, you feel more accomplishments the more you hunt and shorten the time you need to hunt them. Biggest take away from DS bosses is they're designed to be fought once then done, hitzones are the same or doesn't matter enough to aim for them, and the rewards more often shitty or you can't use at all - up to even Elden Ring.
Most importantly I love Dragons and there's no other game with good dragon fights like MonHun, that Fatalis MHW is literally the best Dragon fight in ANY GAME, EVER
    - Gear crafting and progression system - you need something, you work toward it, you can make full gear armors unlike those RPG only have the item in your inventory and zero visual for each of them, like recently I play FF16 and so disappointed only your equipped weapon is shown, for stats they're much less of a gain compare to other games but every small few percent improvement make you feel much better, and not just stats but those gears give small changes to combat that can completely change your approach in combat too, grind for better gear to fight stronger bosses and it create a perfect gameplay loop

Bro totally cover clones! I really enjoy God eater and Toukiden as well as wild hearts. I think wild hearts did awesome things with SHOWING and not TELLING the danger of monsters like how the village itself got attacked with consequences. Or neat ideas like that quest, Is it murder or was it a monster. Too bad Dauntless really fell off. Would have been nice to have a competitor.

    "There's no boring parts"
Egg runs are pretty damn boring lol
Btw i have yet to find a game that can replicate the joy i had on my first playthroughs of MH3U and MH4U, i legit had over 2k hours in 4U over the span of 1 summer vacation on my 3ds XL (which i took on a family camping trip)
Also if you wanna know how to play GU on pc (with functioning online) just hmu

for anyone not convinced of the absolutely ridiculous degree of replayability monster hunter games have, I fairly recently got true 100% on monster hunter rise after 2.5 THOUSAND hours, and still regularly feel the itch to boot it back up for a couple hunts every so often
