Quick and straight to the point video :-) Much, much better without music. I find it annoying that when people use musicit comes on so loud and you have to keep hovering over the volume button, plus the music is normally stuff I can't stand anyway lol But, no music is the way for me. Cheers.
Great video and info. I’ve got an ‘04 Boxster S 6-speed manual, cobalt blue. Right now? It’s hard to beat a Boxster. Mine booked for 15k-20k, the guy was asking 15k, got him down to 13k. I simply love the car. Every time I drive it, puts a smile on my face. 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you Andrew! Yeh this 'Ocean blue' colour is one of those that looks kind of nothing-ish when it's dull but when properly restored it is so deep! The car is a great spec (good spot on the manual gearbox!). Its live on ebay right now so hopefully the owner has some luck finding the right person for the car! Cheers!
Thanks for posting this video as I have some cracked paint just inside the rear plate housing on my 986, and seeing you work on the exact same area has given me the confidence to do it myself. That and getting a quote of £500 to respray the bumper.
Thanks Robert, glad this helped! Strange that you have the same issue in the same location! Also, just for laughs...that repair probably cost me less than £1 worth of materials!
I was thinking quite a lot about my modern classic preferences... Wanted to say many cars (like any RS Costworths, etc.) that would be a good investment, but my final conclusion was to listen to my heart and say that what I feel: Audi RS4 B7 - the last V8 manual saloon RS4 is one of my all time favourites and hopefully I will be able to buy one in my life! 🤩
You have serious taste! I couldn't agree more that a late, manual RS4 is not only an awesome machine, but if kept well can surely only prove to be a decent investment!
Best modern classic to buy right now is the Porsche 997 Turbo Coupe. Insanely strong value and only going up, this is coming from someone with a 986 aswell ;)
Great video Johnny - as always! 🤩 I just felt that it was a bit too short for me - but I know and understand why shorter videos are going better... I also think it’s better without music - but I keep getting some people telling me that I should be using music and talk a lot, because my videos are extremely long and boring; despite of that I don’t want to use music all the time and my viewers prefer the videos without music. I think it totally depends on that who is watching - people who are just a bit interested want to watch short, entertaining, TV-show-like videos with music and lots of talking, and those people who are really into the content want to watch only the process without anything... I think the best way is to listen to our hearts and make content what is coming from our hearts. Follow your inner voice Johnny, make videos that are coming from your heart and your viewers will like it - doesn’t matter what you put out there! 🤩
Great video mate, I’ve seen this car on eBay for sale on my hunt for a Boxster. I thought it was strange the Boot release button wasn’t 986 maybe from a 997/987 possibly. Is this going back up for sale now you have sorted the bits? I really want the Lapis Blue and now you’ve taken all the fun out ownership for me by polishing it 😂😂 looks really good.
Hey, thanks for your comment! The current owner has this for sale on ebay right now! Sorry to take all the fun out of it, but seriously the 986 seems like a solid purchase if you're looking for a fast, reliable, useable modern classic 👍
Lovely vid. The lack of music was actually quite pleasant from my perspective. With regards to the car, I'm surprised you didn't condition the leather after cleaning it with an APC. Would that be something you'd do in the future?
Thank you! Yes good spot on the leather. In a perfect world a conditioner would have been a good way to finish, however as this was a weaker dilution of APC and the finish was just right I didn't include that step. Glad you enjoyed the video!
@@JohnnyGetsCash I also didn't congratulate you on the finish you got on the car, that was pretty crap of me! You did a good job 👍 I used to have a convertible and found that you could get a dye kit for the fabric, made the whole thing come up like new....I had no idea such a thing existed until I was looking at a waterproof treatment.
@@SuperchargedLlama Thank you very much! Yes, this hood would've benefited from a light re-dye and to be fair had I thought about it I would've recommended this to the owner (I was so focused on the clear coat repair and the paint correction that I must've had my blinkers on!). Overall I was very pleased with the outcome. I feel that it left looking like a younger car than it came in as!
Yes! That's a great shout! 1ST gen TT in 3.2 quattro flavour would be awesome (especially if you can find a manual example). Trouble is so many have been abused now and fallen behind on their service schedule. Thanks for the reply!
@@NordicAdvRider For sure! Any well kept mk1 would be a lovely thing to keep under wraps in the garage! You've got me wanting to get my hands on one now!
Modern classics? Mustangs and Camaros (both with v8’s), C5 Corvettes, Pontiac GTO, Mercedes SLK, BMW 5 series, VW GTI , Fiat 124 Spider Abarth, Not much into Jaguars or Asian cars. Prefer a manual trans, but if it’s got a v8? Just gotta know what you’re doing. So easy to smoke a clutch. I fell in love with Porsche back in 1985, while stationed there(US Army), my dream was was a 1985 Porsche 928 I, manual trans, dark maroon.
Great video mate 😁👍🏻, lotus charlton would be my choice of car aka the weapon of the 90s 😂 3.6 twin turbo 377bhp what’s not to love about the quickest family saloon 😂
Thanks Neil... Also YES ! I was at a car auction before lockdown and they had an original carlton on display that was due to go through their classics sale. Not sure if the sale ever happened due to lockdown though. But yes - what a machine, Excellent choice!
Wow I bet that went for a good price if sale went ahead . They are a beast of a car 176mph top speed for a saloon car was just nuts back in the day . I think the 0-60 was 5.1 secs . Now that would be a car to trade up too 😁👍🏻
@@JohnnyGetsCash pretty sporty look though.. I've considered it for my boxster s, it's cobalt blue with the med silver lettering. it definitely would POP... just a bit too showy for me. Plus it's a PORSCHE , doesn't need anymore than simply that. :)
Really nice job. I just did a 2000 996 Carrera over the weekend. I kept the music on for the power washing and the polishing only. Check it out if you like.
Hi Rob, costs-wise it all depends on what needs doing (if its just a clean up, or paint correction too, or even body repairs). Its always worth doing on a car like this though!
Hi Graeme, I'm based in the south west and do not generally offer this service on a mobile basis. Thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoyed the video 👍
These days I don't do too much sale prep for cars other than my own, however I'm always willing to consider it! You can contact me through my about page or alternatively through my Instagram account @johnny_gets_cash Cheers!
Good shout! I sold a beautiful E46 M3 a few years ago. I did really well on the price at the time and was chuffed, but that same car today would be worth almost double what i sold it for! If only we could keep them all!
@@JohnnyGetsCash i wish i kept myn but the show must go on as they say. Looking forward to your next video I do love them I did a few trading up episodes on my channel too and ended up with something nice 👍🏼
Nice work. Definitely prefer to watch videos like this without annoying music playing.
Glad you liked it!
No BGM is fine for me since you give us narration with good information to listen to
Thanks for this video from a Boxster owner. I prefer no music.

Adhesive lint roller on the top works great for getting the small stuff off the top.

That paint looks stunning after a bit of time to bring it back. Great colour, manual, right spec......i'd expect that sold well. Fine work sir.

Definitely WITHOUT music
I have a very similar car down to the colour. These are close to the bottom of their price. I paid £4500 for mine.
The only way Is up! Clean Boxster S' are getting harder and harder to find, great purchase!
I paid 2k for mine and another sold for 1500 a few weeks later

Excellent (again). Prefer some music.
When u talk put background music because voice over audio pops a bit
I’d say a E46 M3
