    FYI: Our flag is not actually called "The Union Jack". It's called "The Union Flag". It was only ever called "The Union Jack" when it was put on a pole on a ship. "Jack" is the name of the pole.

      @@MrSearching4thetruth I have to agree, it is the Union flag but I also agree most land lubbers refer to it as the Union Jack. It is difficult to educate the ignorant when it's the majority view that is correct and not the facts. Also the internet fact is way behind the times. We have much higher available broadband speeds but most people do not wish to pay the premium for the additional bandwidth. This may also be the case in the States.

    I’ve been to America a few times I tell you the thing that I notice constantly and that’s the lack of geographical/international knowledge. Unless it’s an American topic most guys I’ve spoken to have no clue about world issues. Maybe that’s just me I dunno

      @@marcoroberts9462 yeh there’s definitely a bit of that but I think it’s deeper than that. Travel is a big thing in the UK and Europe (old colonial habits die hard) and I’m not so sure travel abroad is such a big thing in US. I remember reading some crazy stat once about the amount of Americans who own a passport. Was like 40%. I don’t know the UK percentage but I’d say it’s gotta be over 70%

      That's because most US workers get less than a week of paid vacation (and no guarantee that they will keep their job if they actually take it) here in the UK we get just under a month minimum and you can't be penalised for taking it

    I’m not sure this is a the best vid for U.K. v USA tbh... but liked the way you didn’t get rubbed up the wrong way or bristle at any of it... respect for that. A lot of Americans, AND Brits, not gonna lie, get offended by “who’s The Best” stats and discussions... I agree with you though, a few things on the list weren’t good examples, or even worth mentioning the rift was so small... but interesting none the less :) nice vid 👍😇 xxx

      This vid is alright but this was a poor video to react too & much better available. It is all that you said, plus very shy on facts & so lost me from the start with head of state cost. its all knowledge you can get in 2 mins on Google Yes £37 odd million on security gets taken from the UK tax money Pot, but the Queen also puts +£550m into that Pot voluntarily. so not including the £1.8billion the Royals earn for Britain each year in tourism etc. Uk taxpayers are still £500+ million better off & i dont no of another Ruler or head of state with the same credentials on their resume(c.v)

      @@chrissearle6176 The Crown Estate, as a body corporate, doesn't belong to the Queen as her private estate does. George III gave it up to relieve his debt and liabilities. The powers of ownership lie with the Crown Commissioners who are resposible to Parliament, not to the Queen. The Queen doesn't "voluntarily" give Crown Estate income to the state; just as I don't "voluntarily" pay income tax.
      It is daft to compare the Queen to the President, as their roles are radically different. The Queen's role is largely ceremonial; the President has paramount executive power over a nation with 5 times the population.

      If you can find 2 statistics or facts that dont contradict each other on this subject id like to hear.
      Im not talking about the crown estate. The crown estate earns uk a mind whopping £2billion a year & of that she gets £170m Grant which pays for the Royal state affairs like wages, functions, state visits & day to day upkeep of state owned property. Palace maintenance & refurbishments are paid by taxpayers directly as they own it.
      Her personal estate earns £736m a year, of which she gets £370m, that is taxed & for her personal
      The queen is a nett contributor & after looking further into it, she is 1 of 3 that can claim this. Others being principality of Monaco & the dude that owns Liechtenstein.
      Do you think the queen got issued with a bus pass? & does she send herself a card on her 100'th birthday? 😁

    One area we blow the US out of the water is with "Hollywood Villains". Where would the film industry be without British Villains? We're also pretty good at time travelling robots that struggle to negotiate stairs.

I know there’s many idiots in the U.K. yet America is stereotypically known for its idiots, sometimes i start to think the U.K. has more lol, it probably does. Most Americans aren’t idiots until it comes to politics...like denying climate change etc. But apart from that the majority of Americans are welcoming and kind people. Much more welcoming than any Brits to be honest

      I agree, one expects the average person to bristle with indignation in situations like this but he doesn't; he simply explains each of the points and comes across very well. I love how open minded he is. Not only that, these clips are educational too.

    President and family have massive security. The one time when the Queens daughter, Princess Anne, was threatened with a gun; after the kidnapper had shot two people, simply refused to get out of her car and told him ‘not bloody likely’! He wasn’t to sure what to do after that!

    One of the most entertaining afternoons I ever enjoyed was spent explaining some of the joys of cricket to an American over a few beers... come the end of that days play he turned to me a asked "who won ?" ... the look on his face as I explained the game was a test match and had another 4 days to run and even then, it could end in a draw ... he downed his pint in one, got up and left without saying another word 🙂

    there ARE some things some countries do better than others,
    but lets be honest , if you ever believe you live in a perfect country ..... you need more education.
    there is greatness everywhere, but on the other side of that coin ...

    Something I’m proud of in the UK, is the fact that we don’t have a privatised healthcare, and that schools don’t double as shooting ranges.
    Btw I loved the video, I just didn’t think the video we reacted to was an inaccurate representation on their current differences, and you did point that out, would be interesting to know your opinion on those topics

      A lot of UK healthcare is privatised, we just don't pay for it (at the time)...I think privatisation is a good thing as long as it's still free at the point of use.

    As a Brit i learnt a lot in this vid! Officially though the national flag is called the Union Flag, it can only be a Union Jack when on a ship as jacks are specifically flown on naval vessels. One of those incorrect terms but which is in common use, everyone uses and everyone will know what is meant when using 'Union Jack'.

      That monster of a roundabout would still be preferable to a 4 way stop or a 2 way stop for a 4 lane road. I love when there is a roundabout because the flow of traffic is so much smoother even in heavier traffic.

    The point is simple. A constitutional monarchy takes prestige away from politicians. The British don’t ever have to be polite to, or about, politicians.

      We don't have to be polite about the Monarchy either although most people on balance are (although we certainly don't shy away from criticism of certain useless members of the Royal family)

    Have a look at the Ulster grand prix or the northwest 200 , they are both motorcycle road racing circuits in northern Ireland but unlike the isle of man TT they are actually battling eachother at 200+ mph

      Large scale wind generated electricity isn't cost effective both from a start-up and energy used compared to energy produced point of view. Nuclear power is a much better option and would provide more than enough electricity for centuries to come.

      @@alandillon968 Ireland WAS a member until it declared its self a republic. Under the terms of membership at the time they had to have the King as head of state so when they became a republic they had to leave. This has now changed so Ireland are free to rejoin if they wish. There is also nothing stopping the USA applying for membership

Irish politicians negotiated independence from the UK but the IRA and the Irish rejectec the agreement because as you say the King would still be head of state. They wanted total independence from the UK with no ties. They continued there fight and gained total independence from the UK and have never shown an interest in joining.

    And i really dont want to be picky but it annoyed me, when he was talking about the flag. Its a small thing but for some reason it annoys me...Its the Union Flag not the Union Jack.       @Din Djarin It's possible speeds by country have changed a lot since April/May 2020, especially with Covid and more people working from home/using the internet more due to not being able to go out so much. I know at least some ISP's have invested to have more capacity, because of the higher demand, wouldn't be surprised if they managed to get better speeds because of the amount they have to invest now either.

      I stumble across long forgotten productions every week, mainly on archive websites.
      I know more than the official *City of Film* team, who's job it is to know about productions who have filmed in the city (they constantly talk about the same productions again and again), and where exactly those locations are (as they usually just mention a few of the locations in each production).
      I've spent the last year slowly adding less well known *films, TV shows, TV episodes, shorts,* and *music videos* (which either filmed in Bradford or contain Bradfordians) to *IMDB* (along with updating country of origin, language, colour, genres, cast, crew, companies, plots, run times, posters, screenshots, keywords, locations, birth places, biographies etc) around 20 of which (mainly music shows, dance shows, and documentaries) I've added in the last 2 weeks, yet I've barely got started.
      There's still 1000's more I know about which have yet to be added to *IMDB.*

If there were some measurement that we knew was meaningful, then maybe there is a positive correlation between papers per capita and this other measurement? But papers per capita might not be an indication of scientific pursuit, but also of just how easy it is in a country to publish, or how expensive it is, or all sorts of cultural factors, or even if that country specialises in a peculiar scientific pursuit.

How cheap or easy it is isn’t relevant, the numbers is trying to prove how easy it is so publish a paper, it’s a measure of the effect on the international scientific community a country as and the amount of approved academic papers is directly relevant to that.

    Oh dear, and we beat America in a few other areas, notably first powered flight was our side of the pond before the Wright brothers did their bit, Electric light bulb ? Yep we had a working one before Edison, Telephone ? well Bell was a brit even if he did his work your side of the water, Radio, us again. Jet propulsion ? we were first there too. Hell we even discovered America before Columbus but probably not before the Vikings had been there. It was said not so long ago that of all the inventions of the modern era, about half were from Brits and about half of those were from Scots.     Acutely the Royal family subsidies the UK government not the other way round as one of the previous Kings agreed for the profits from the crown estates to go to the UK exchequer in return for not paying tax and an allowance called the civil list. Also the UK and Scottish governments use buildings, artworks and many other thing that belong to the crown without cost.

    My old mate runs a very large wind farm down south.
    He was full of hot air back in the day when talking #### about bikes lol
    He knew everything about engines but I found him hitting the barrel with a lump hammer to get the piston in.
    He didn't know about ring location pins and put the piston rings over them.
    Wouldn't be so bad if he was humble and not a show off, but you can't teach someone who knows it all ;-)

      all this green energy in uk, we have shocking high prices for electric and gas, and 60% tax on fuel. we also have very high food prices, even with saying that 80 plus % of energy is from natural gas what was coal at one stage

    Another thing with the wind farms- we actually own 8 out of 10 of the biggest off shore wind farms in the world! That 1.75 terawatts was just 1 of those, if you combine it with the other 7 in the list, plus the other smaller farms, we actually produce a lot, lot more!

    I feel I need to clear something up. Although the Queen is technically the head of state l, she isn't really in charge like implied in the comparison video, we are still a democracy and have been for a long time.

    I live next to what was the worlds largest off shore wind farm in the Irish Sea near Walney Island Cumbria until a larger wind farm was produced around the Hornsea off shore wind farm off the East Coast of England. I believe Walney is now expanding further.

    Magic Roundabout was the one with the large roundabout with smaller roundabouts around it. It is in Swindon, Wiltshire, England look it up, its mad but once you understand how it works it's fine. There are people who are scared of it and avoid it.

    I have enjoyed binge watching all your videos. I love the understanding and respect you have for us and our British culture. Im from Northern England but was lucky enough to study in the US for a year while at Uni. I studied at LSU, Geaux Tigers!! Sorry Alabama :) . I loved my time in the States and it was an eye opener to see how different universities teach students....pop quizes were the bane of my life!! I was in the States in 08/09 and the friends i made became friends for life. Love to you and yours ;)

    WOW! I can see the London Array Wind Farm most days when I'm in town, but I never knew it was the world’s largest wind farm. I thought our Kentish Flats Wind Farm was big enough.

    As someone from the UK i find myself cringing a lot listening to this, we should not be comparing ourselves to each other like this it just puts us into a sense of complacency, we all have unique aspects of our countries that are special and also many aspects that need to be improved and the UK has a host of problems too, i imagine you could easily make a video with the opposite title also.

    Another thing that seems to be missing is banking services, as a UK current account holder i can use a secure app to send money over the internet to another account or scan a cheque for direct payment. I think they're still on cheques in the USA.

    I work for BP.
    BP has the highest number of charging points in the UK for electric motor vehicles. BP is taking a huge stand on environmental issues.
